Multicasting Keyboard and Mouse between 2 PC's?

What is the best way with the least amount of lag if any to use my keyboard and mouse on my laptop and my desktop at the same exact time. I don't want to switch between the two.

That's exactly what I need to do but I am looking for something less expensive.

I used input director and it was laggy a bit. The mouse was perfect but the keyboard would not react on both computers at the same time. The client sometimes did not input all keystrokes.

This is not for an MMO, it is for a rhythm game. And if it works well, I will use this same concept in other games and even in multiplayer FPS's

I asked this on tom's hardware's forum and someone recommended using a switch but I don't want to switch back and forth between 2 PC's. I want to use the keyboard on both simultaneously.
