Finally got my main team (pally tank, destro lock, 3x ele shaman) setup and did a daily H (CoT:strath).

First thing I noticed, boy the pally tank is really squish now, used to run this (and most other H) with very little healing needed. My tank actually died on the 2nd wave of trash, his hp dropped to 20ish% before I knew what's happening, luckily shamans was able to recover it. Since then I start to pay closer attention to tank's hp, started using Divine Protection regularly and pop WoG b4 pulling if possible, but he still needed 1-2 heals per trash wave.

Warlock's new shard system is kinda annoying, has to stand still alot to use Soul Harvest, maybe just haven't got the hang of it yet.

Didn't notice much dps increase for both lock and shaman, probably need to play around with macros a bit more.

Each H boss gives 16 Justice Points, daily Heroic dungeon reward 23 JP. For some reason I had always assumed it would be 2x23, lol. But no, each boss used to drop 1x badge of triumph now gives 16JP, but daily Heroic used to give 2x badge of frost now only gives 23JP, what a jib!

some oddities I noticed.

4 of my clients have b and shift-b reversed for bags. (i.e. all bags open with using b). I looked thru options but couldn't find anything.

4 of my clients (not the same 4) don't show the quest objectives for tracked quests. Someone else in the zone was saying he was having a similar issue except his quest objectives were being placed in the middle of his screen.

There's a 2 second pause every time I loot something, anything. This might be altaholic not sure.

The Shadow Vault flight path is not accessible from any other flight path. If you go there you can fly anywhere else, just it's not an option when you are at another FP.

Edit: Well for the bags thing, for some reason each of the 4 clients acting that way had their key bindings reversed. It wasn't like this before the patch. So strange!

Edit 2: the 2-second lag when looting creatures etc was due to altaholic.

It's weird...

Finally got all set back up again and did some testing. My pally can't hold aggro for crap now with the damage my druids pull. I'm constantly spamming hand and even then it's rough. Worse than vanilla. I don't mind reasonable threat- if DPS go balls out they should get threat. But normal spells not even using CD's are pulling mobs like mad on my DPS.

The lack of defense I get thrown by enemies that normally I'd resist.

Turn your back to a mob and they'll beat your ass into the ground. Not letting crap get behind you seems even more important than ever now.

Going to be a long learning curve to unlearn then relearn how to play.

Yup, I noticed my pal tank aggro is shit compared to my measly 2200 dps rets, and my ret pally takes enormous damage!

A few thing I noticed...

My resolution got changed
All my macros got taken off my bars
The spell queuing system is hell annoying and makes it harder to react to procs
The blizzard raid frames is hell annoying and I can't seem to get rid of that tab on the left hand side
There is no icon for the social (friends, who, raid, chat) window on the bottom toolbar
Haven't mentioned it before but... forcing people to cookie cutter spec... gg blizz!

This is just from starting up the game

The official patch notes from Blizzard's site (http://www.wow-europe.com/en/patchnotes/) are quite "light" taken into account what changed.
But that isn't my point, more of things I found out that surprised me and I'll explain you why. I'll add up more as I find them as yesterday I mostly had the boring experience of creating all glyphs for all my lvl 80 toons I want to level in Cataclysm. I'm halfway but it's something over 5k Inks ^^.

1 - Mining and Herbalism are giving XP. I knew it was coming for Cata but was really surprised to see it now! Awesome;

2 - Transmutes still have CD. It's nice, prices will still be high :). Not sure about procs though and if it's still worth speccing my 9 alchemists to transmute since I believe it'll go away in Cata - thought it'd be gone this patch. What do you think?;

3 - I've noticed on the spell book you can buy azeroth fly (not fly for sure, of course). Someone did it?

4 - You can track both minerals and herbs at the same time (maybe even more stuff afaik). I was doing that in beta but I thought it was just to easen up testing! Is it a bug? I just love it on my Paladin dual gatherer :).

5 - I feel the process of logout and exit game to be of a really improved performance. Am I dreaming?

6 - My latency was halved (and it was patch day). I was at 33 instead of the usual 70-75.

7 - Everything seems so much more "fluid" in terms of visuals and input reaction. I was tired and bored, that might be it :).

8 - My inscribed had already learn everything from glyph books but just to try it out I did it again yesterday and there was a new glyph to be learned (after learning all others from trainer).

More will surely come of course and I hope to get feedback from you.
Cheers and a good day to all,
A.

They removed cooldowns on professions {cloth, gems} with previous expansions. I expect there will be new cooldowns in Cata.

This is a bug. Azeroth flying is supposed to come out with Cata. I know some people have been able to buy it and use flying mounts in certain areas {some can fly, some can only use certain flying mounts as ground mounts} but there's been blues on it.

http://blue.mmo-champion.com/t/27189095342/flying-in-silvermoon-city-4-0-1-already/

310% Flying is available, though, which I was under the impression was not out until 4.0.3. It's 5k at the trainer in Dalaran, no discounts, however, Warsong/Valiance offer it at a discount.

These are the things that I experienced which I did not expect.

1. I was not expecting another 1.9 gig of download after the gigantic patch I had to download previously, and let alone the 40min patching time. caught me by surprise there...

2. When launching my 5 characters with ISboxer, all 5 wow opens up fine. But when I enter the user name and pass + auth code it freezes a moment between connecting and authenticate for about 10sec or so then it goes normal and enters the character selection.

3. As someone mentioned many of the hotkeys were missing on the hotbar. Specially macros (no not the spell cast sequence one, things like group invite were not there)

4. Cooldowns on Professions that were suppose to be removed has now got a random cooldown. I experienced both on alchemy transmuting and inscription research. Gave me 3hours 5min the first time, then it gave me 16 hour cooldown.

probably will be more but yesterday I could just about pull out configuring my first group's macros and castsequences.

/agree, I will miss the theory crafting for talents... for most toons the option are obvious now

I went through 2hrs of set up for all toons yesterday, all works fine now - I am surprised how smooth this was.

A.

There are a bunch of glyphs that you can only learn from doing research. The books and trainers only teach you about 3/4 of the glyphs. I remember having to do research of another month and a half or so to get them all.

I was disappointed about the 310% mounts being gone as drops. I don't recall them saying it would happen with this patch. I only needed the halloween event to get my "What a long strange trip its been" mount /cry

Things I expected but that did not happen:

- I would be completely overwhelmed trying to figure out the new mechanics. It turns out the new systems are easier (at least for me) to understand since they tend to be more consistent/make more sense.

- That my team would be less effective. Exactly the opposite - my DPS went up almost double, and my tank is pretty damn durable! I wound up so excited by this that I blogged it even. Yes, I know, no life.

- That the new talents would take longer to figure out. Not so much, it turns out they're pretty straight forward and make a lot of sense, more than the previous mess.

Things I did not expect but that did happen:

- That I would actually *like* the shorter talent trees with fewer points. Yes, people are forced into cookie cutter specs (well, with a few points that can vary, for flavor) but for me I just do what I do and if other people do the same thing, they do the same thing. I suspect that the way I've specced out my characters isn't the "standard" that will be promulgated throughout the community, but it works for me so yay.

- Macros changed to make boxing *easier*. With my paladin I have a lovely macro that handles an "optimal" rotation of Crusader's Strike, Shield of the Righteous and Hammer of Righteousness to maximize the effect of Holy Power. It also throws in Consecration whenever it's ready, Avenger's Shield whenever it's ready, and Holy Wrath whenever its ready. With my shaman DPSers, I can fire off elemental mastery whenever it's up and also spew Lava Bursts whenever it cools down or Lava Surge procs, AND I can take advantage of Fulmination. No need to manage procs or pay much attention - just spam my DPS key until I need to replace it.

- Things to be as smooth for me as they have been, both from a gameplay standpoint and a server stability/game not crashing standpoint. From a gameplay perspective, I think because I wasn't very well geared, the changes to the mechanics of gear actually helped me a LOT: my avoidance is about the same since most pieces I had didn't have any bonus armor (which got nerfed hard), and my parry & dodge were higher after the patch than before. Assuming that the no-crit of Righteous Fury works, I am now a more potent tank than I was before. Yay!

- The changes to graphics are AWESOME! I have my main window running at Ultra settings, and water looks really nice. Shadows look really nice. Everything looks really nice, and my framerates are also really nice even in places like Dalaran during prime time. Woot! I kinda thought the changes would be lame or that they would cripple my performance if I used them.

- That I would like this patch. I really was kind of nervous/dreading it because things before were working pretty well. So far, I'm quite happy.

That was one thing I forgot to mention. I was totally expecting a big performance hit- then another one when Cat launches. My computer is probably right on the line for 5 boxing.

The pleasant surprise was my performance has improved dramatically for the better.

I did notice performance inrease as well. I noticed less lag and for some reason the UI seemed more responsive. That was a nice bonus.

The conversion was 1 badge (Frost/Triumph) = 11.58 JP. So two badges of Frost = 2 * 11.58 = 23.16. So you're getting the same amount for the daily, and actually getting a bit more for each boss.

My team dinged 80 not too long ago, in quest blues and crafted epics. I expect to have full T10 under this new system in 15 days.

I havn't played much but it seems that things are more fluid and ThunderBuff looks a lot better, not sure why. I dont like the new very simplistic talent trees but oh well.

Most all addons seem shot, probably be a few days to a week before I can really play.

Was very happy with fire mage until they plan to nerf ....

I hope the change in macros is not an error if they keep it Ill be way way more powerful.

Dont know about pally tank yet but holding agro in this game was complete joke compared to EQ, if its a lot harder then its just what I been doing for 6 years ....
