After 7 months, my power supply died. At first it smelt like someone was BBQing rubber outside, but after 5 minutes my machine shut off & wouldn't start up. Submitted a ticket via OCZ's website, but I'm curious how long the average process takes to replace a unit? I read the reviews on newegg which doesn't give me much hope. My boxing team is offline until the powersupply is up.

On the bright side, I had cancelled my accounts during the Real ID/Real Name incident and haven't reactived them yet (playing off remaining account time still). So if it takes too long, at least I'm not losing money to Blizz.

BBQ rubber smell from a power supply means you blew up one of your oil-filled capacitors, I'm pretty sure. If you could find the same capacitor at Radio Shack, you could fix it for dirt cheap. :p

On a related note, the only power supply I've had die on me in 10 years has been an OCZ. WTF.

I've had pretty good luck with OCZ's rma department. they've got a pretty quick turn around time, and if you call them and explain to them it's your only box, they may cross ship for you.

Not gonna risk opening the box and voiding the warrenty :( Will just sit and wait for a response; I hate phones but if they don't send an email response then I may have to call em up. In the mean time, will just see how addicated to WoW I am - and how long I can hold out before getting tremors.

Power Supply died - Sunday PM, 7/18
RMA ticket submitted - Monday AM, 7/19
Response to ticket w/OCZ RMA shipping address - Wednesday AM, 7/21
Shipped FedEx (3 business days) - Wednesday PM, 7/21
Arrived at OCZ - Monday PM, 7/26
New or Referb'd replacement shipped from OCZ via UPS ground - Wednesday PM, 7/28
ETA from UPS - Tuesday, 8/3
Total replacement time: 15 days +/- 1 day

This info is for anyone else who needs to return a power supply. The crappy part was me paying FedEx for a 3-day shipment (business days) :( . $25 to ship & the original cost of power supply was $80. Package arrived at the LA (Cali) FedEx hub Friday PM, but had to sit around until Monday to be delivered.

Advice: If your power supply dies, order a new one. Then ship the dead one back via lowest ground rate. You'll have the RMA replacement in a couple weeks as a backup (or for another PC). For shipping reference, the power supply weighed just under 6lbs when packaged with FedEx.
