Magtheridon - US - The Multiboxer Server

If you are thinking of rolling a new set of 2 or more characters, consider joining us on Magtheridon, US. No queues for Horde, a stable, full server - and a more tolerant/informed Horde side. PvP server, but leveling is easy with little interruptions if you do instances, and much of the server is 80 so spawns are rarely contested until then. If things really get hairy, help is just a call away.

*Note - we run two guilds becuase the guild roster in WoW stops displaying toons after the 500th.

We have Vent, a guild bank, our private forums, over 500 toons across the two guilds and of course this site. We have multiple groups from dk's and pallies to mages to shammys and even druids. All clasess / combinations are welcome - the only condition being that you box at least 2 toons. ;) We generally will also provide some starter bags or coin to get you started if you need.

We currently raid on a casual basis, although will be probably be moving to a more regular schedule next patch.

You can PM Stealthy / Oathbreaker / Blast3r / Mercurio for invites, or pst any of the guild officers ingame.

After spending so much time lurking and reading threads here, I was going to ask if there's a server where alot of multi boxers play. I'm only a 2 boxer atm since I can't afford to pay for another wow accnt atm (though I've got the hardware to start up a 4 box minus the specialized keybd and kvms). Mind a 2 boxer comming over? :)

Lovely.. Recruiting more horde multiboxers to Mag.. I have been on Mag since 2 weeks after release (alliance):) and the zins have owned my face many many times. I remember way back in the day when the zins were leveling seeing 5 characters running through Stonetalon Mountains.and running like hell to get away.

Eventually the alliance will have no chance at all if all of you go horde on Mag.

He is right though. Instant queues on horde side. The world pvp is a bit dull but I am sure you guys can spice it up. I might as well get my Halaa stuff done now becuase once you all get to 70 Alliance will never have halaa again.

Anyhow it is a good place becuase like Xzin said almost everyone on the server is familiar with the multiboxing so you will get little grief except maybe a few alliance crying in the forums from time to time, but they get flamed fast :)

I think the guest passes are pre-BC only. So no Draenei or Blood Elves which means no alliance shaman or horde paladin.

10 day free trial if you have no previous account is pre-TBC or if you had an account but not an expansion enabled one you can get a 10 day trial that would be expansion enabled.

If I didn't already my huntards past 25 I would have rolled there on Friday :(

You don't have to wait the full 10 days to upgrade a trial account to a full account, and from there add a TBC key to it.
At least it'd be extremely stupid to make it so you did, and Blizzard aren't THAT stupid..

Been actually considering doing a restart 3box style (considering 4, but my current setup isn't optimal for any more then 3). I've always been horde, but thinking about trying alliance out.

Anyone know of a server that decent for alliance that has other multiboxers on it? PVP server, preferred west coast, but I'm pretty indifferent.

Ive been playing wow since about 2 months after it released. I so want to 5 box and roll on Mag with you all. Your 10box sounds dope, and the read on the 5 box was a blast. BTW, go with <These ARE My Alts> for the guild name, at least something that is representative of multi boxers.

BTW, for your 10 box, did you level two groups of 5 independently? As in two parties of 5 vs a raid?

My locks just dinged 20. Goose is 21 or so and Brad will be starting this week. So if you start now, you will not be far behind at all.

I am leveling my locks to 60 then going to try raid XP in UBRS or ZG 10 boxing. If not, I will just take them to outlands and level them together but just alternate.

You should join us - a lot of us have warlock groups, so summoning us all together at once will be quite simple :)

Bah! I am on an EU server and my guild which I wont leave is there. While it would be cool to play together and to play horde for a change, I wont buy five more wow accounts and pay for ten accounts. :D

Damm, perfect time to start. I honestly wont have the time until late August. However, Im going to look at hardware in the meantime. I would love to go the dual core route, but you so strongly advise 1box per account...is there anyone in your guild that runs very well with more than 1 account per box? Do they PVP or PVE?

Has anyone thought about 4 Hunters and a Druid (all Tauren)? Imagine the 4x Aimed Shot with 4 pets........dope!

That 's fine - we have some people level 70 right now and some are rolling in a week or two. So, if you want to join us - we will be here :)

You can get level 70 in around 10 - 12 days /played..... and many of us are using Johana's guide - just slightly tweaked for boxers - so the leveling is actually pretty quick.

Nobody is doing 4 hunters and a druid, although I could see 5 druids or 4 hunters and a druid being viable. Right now, people are mostly 1 priest 4 locks or 5 shamans or 4 mages 1 priest as quite a few of us PvP or wish to.

You *can* run 2 WoWs on a single box but it is less flexible and may or may not work as well as you want. 1 WoW per box with the current state of hardware is my personal preference but you CAN 5 box WoW pretty darn well with only 3 computers. Just be careful about making sure the graphics cards are up to snuff and you don't try to run 2 WoWs on a dual headed card - either get 2 cards or run them both on a single screen, that really helps maximize the fps.

Dope! I think I will run 3 boxes, 2 being dual core dual vid cards and 1 being the same but just one vid card. All of which have their own monitor.

Im even considering a 5 box dual core, dual monitor setup. Even with the multiple client per box it sounds like you need 3rd party software to direct the input to the right wow client. :(

Reading some more posts on your plan to 10 man PVE I'm seeing it might be important to have melee in the mix. However, you always see those posts of "wow, 40 man shadow priest down boss xyz", so anything is possible. I would love 4 hunters and 4 pets, too cool.

I also use Johana's horde guide, good stuff!

I guess I really need to plan out what it is I want to do, I would love to PVE as I have over 50days played on all my toons combined thats mostly been PVP and leveling. Even in your guild 5 5boxers is a 25main raid, now thats money!

I want to do it right thats for sure....everything from hardware to the class selection, plenty of planning to do....Anyway, enough of my steam of consciousness...

Not all of us have that play time but we tend to play later - at least on Mag.

Like I said, Ill be joining late August. Ill transfer my main from Gurubashi who has 2k gold. I cant stand starting a new toon without 4 16 slot bags, and having to to do 5 toons with no starting funds would be maddness.

BTW, do you level your toons up to lvl 10 before grouping them? Seems reasonable since it only takes about 2hrs to get to lvl 10. Probably more like lvl 12 then hit the xRoads as a group.

WOW didn't expect that. But, I guess its probably easier to do that early on so you get comfortable with the keybindings and build the keybindings as you go instead of later on.

The first few levels are slower because you are setting stuff up, but you one shot everything anyway, plus there is a small group exp bonus, and you start doing quests right away anyway.

Inspired by a whisper from an annoyed random, I tried for <Sofa King Reported> but that is apparently a reserved name. I guess they're onto the whole Sofa King thing ;)

You'd get them back to their corpse the same way you move them around when they aren't dead....stick up and run.

Yes, you can run 5 accounts on 2 machines (if the machines are beefy enough and you turn down the settings...lots of posts here about that). Gotta use Keyclone or AHK to control them though.

But.....if I were you, I would get on homeschooling (or a type of homeschooling from school) if you are really interested, so you can get a part-time job and start making some money. That's what I did when I was in highschool....it was great starting to make money early in life :)

Also, if you have a pretty good box, you may be able to 2 or 3 box with it if you spend some cash on the extra accounts ;)

I started with 5 priests thinking holy nova was going to be the ubar. Got to around level 30 when it became clear that only one priest was needed so I picked up 4 mages.

Its not a pvp server so no transfer for me. The priest group was on a pvp server and I got hastled a lot by people I killed. Even had a few conversations with GM's. But in the end they were like "rock on"

I currently have a 3 box setup with plans to go to 5 in the near future and have created my 2 locks and a priest on Magtheridon over the weekend. They're only up to level 8 but that's only because I started from scratch and am working the macros and bindings as I go. It's been a blast thus far and would love to know if I could join <The Zerg>. Are there any specific requirements or anything? Or do I just send a tell to someone when in game?

Also, just wanted to say thanks to all the "veteran" multiboxers that have contributed sooo much to this site. It really has made my time much more enjoyable. I appreciate you guys taking the time to pave the way.

There are two issues with EU players playing on US servers and vice versa. The first, and easiest to solve, is connecting to the right realms.

The second is the fact that the servers know nothing about players from other regions. They do not have a shared user database (and nor would I expect them to, given the business model Blizzard have adopted).

So although the quick hack to connect to the US servers will work insofaras we (EU players) will indeed be able to establish a connection to the servers, the only way to actually PLAY there is to buy a whole load of US versions of the game.

Which is a shame really.

When I first started boxing, I felt the need to go it alone. I was concerned that the presence of many multiboxers on a single realm would draw attention to us, and perhaps force Blizzard to look more closely at their "spirit of the game" clause.

That remains a concern, but now I've been at it for a while, I feel the need for the support system I so sorely miss from my solo characters, and if I were playing US servers I would indeed now be re-rolling on Mag, despite the time zone difference.

Who knows? Maybe some time we'll get enough EU players on a single realm to support each other over here too. We seem to have too diverse a range of tastes for that at the moment though (I'm enjoying my Horde characters on a PvP server, for example, which is a 180 degree turn from my "home" server!).

Don't need a macro for that. Bind a key on all 4 alts to a different movement direction. Something like:

Bind key "N" to:
Firstbear = moveleft
Secondbear = moveright
Thirdbear = moveforward
Coldporridge = movebackward

Then just hit that key and instant spread.

Spreading out might be bad for your aoe damage if you have mobs on different characters. Still useful for avoiding enemy aoe though, which is about the only thing I see it being useful for, outside of aesthetics.

I am new to 5 boxing and this initial setup is just for experimentation purposes. Thanks for the insight as always, Xzin.

When I first began I knew I would have to have at least 4 spell damage and 1 healer, but I would have to script all of the macro. I do that on a daily basis at work, so for now I just need some relaxing game time before I go hardcore. :)

In order to play on US servers from EU, all you have to do is go into your wow folder, there is a file called "realmlist", open it up and change the "eu" to "us" and then save the file.

I did have some problems with some of the EU game clients becuase of a language pack.

This definately works with UK version of wow because i use it in the oposite way to access EU accounts from the US and i know guys that do the opposite.

So it might be easier for you to install a UK version or install the UK english pak that is compatable with the US client.

I just started Dual-boxing over the weekend. Took all weekend to get keyclone and macros set up. Figure I will stick with dual-boxing for awhile until i get the hang of it.

I am new to this server and to the Horde. Rolled Alliance at release, I have since gotten tired of Alliance whinners and the immature atmosphere and always wished I would have rolled Horde from the beginning. Now I have a reason to start over :lol: .

Has anybody noticed that mag is now a "locked" server.

To be honest, I have no idea what that really means, but when I rerolled here a few weeks ago it was still at medium population. I may have caught it at an odd time, or... the zerg wound up bringing a ton of people here though the constant attention we multiboxers are getting.

anyone think we should all server transfer to a low pop realm and just take over?

The high-pop is because a bunch of tards transferred over a couple weeks ago. It sucks at times having to sit in a queue, though the longest I've had to wait in queue was about 8 minutes (enough time to fix a TV dinner).

As for transferring to a new server, it sounds fun but who would you fight? We'd gank the crap out of most people there.

yea as said before, some idiots transfered here, supposidly a bunch of BT raiders etc, not that we need them

Alright after trying tri-boxing on my alliance raiding main realm Stormrage and then getting used to it on horde side I have started a tri-shaman crew on this server.

I'll get in contact with peeps from the guild when I can. Haven't played horde in over a year but started out on PVP servers back in the day. Still have fond memories of having my 30+ priest get ganked by 4 alliance chumps. Its pay back time.

There isn't one as far as I know, I'm the only one on alliance I know of beyond Unk/Fancyz it seems and most of his real multiboxers're on another server lol; quite a few interested but none have started yet

Is it worth it to get onto Mag now? Is the queue long?

I have some Horde chars I wouldn't mind transferring over (incl. a 60 priest). But, if I'm going to have to wait in line, I probably won't transfer :(

I do not support any more non-Alliance Transfers ;p The lines aren't too long(10min wait at worst?) and usually just at night, or weekends

personally, i dont think mag is a server worth xfering to in the 1st place (im alrdy on it sorta) but it can be over populated by idiots (alli side) and its known for having lots of "Hardware" issues but it could just be blizz tryn to save a couple $

as for horde, im not sure its been a while since i had my 60 lock (pre-bc) and my multiple other little alts

^^^^ What he said. I can't tell any difference between here and Turalyon (Medium pop PVE server) in terms of lag, stability, etc. Only thing different is there is more horde in Org. /shrug

yea not lately, mainly because enough people kept breathing down blizzs neck about all the BS problems - ill refer to back when we were 1 on the servers that they lost all our characters (happened more then once but im being nice) aswell as were usually 1 of the main server to get alot of issues

I have never heard about Bliz "losing" any characters - let alone any on Mag..... if you mean logging on to a blank character select screen - I can assure you that has happened on pretty much EVERY server and is not a symptom of "losing" characters but rather one of the character/login/game servers being temporarily down.

Unless you can substantiate your claims, I kindly ask that you stop spreading FUD about Mag. It is the same as any other server out there in terms of hardware stability.

I logged in about 7pm or so and there was no queue... so that doesn't seem bad?

The worst problem I've seen/heard of with Mag is the queues, and those appear to be a very recent development. Mostly thanks to a few BT raiding guilds

I've never had a problem logging into Mag, both in peak and off peak times. I originally played on Blackrock where queues we a way of life. Trust me when I say Mag is a great server to roll on. :)

Yeah, I had a 5 minute queue one time, but, that's it so far.

The boys are rollin' and I'm guilded to The Zerg... woo hoo! :)

are you guys still offering to take new people? I didnt read all 16 pages, but I am thinking about rolling some new 4 warlocks, mainly for twink PvP for the moment, i JUST finished rolling my 4 shamans (alliance, or Id xfer lol)

I plan to get them to 39 or so, and then twink a bit until i feel like doing the3 week monumental 70 grind again lol.

I'm so glad I didn't roll on Magtheridon.. i wanted draenei for the easy starting zone + hooves of awesome but running into hordes of horde multiboxers... not fun.

That is, unless someone else started it. Like stupid 70 locks in greens that think they're superman in Marshal's Refuge. Felhunter + death coil = LOL!
