I recently rolled on Mag to play with one of my co-workers. I probably won't be joining the zerg, as he has a guild and all, but I look forward to seeing some of you in game. :) The server is definitely more MB aware- I've only been reported once so far (and that was for paying for 5 accounts 0.o)

Drop one of your alts in the zerg. That way you can have twice the chat love. We're pretty quiet most of the time in the zerg anyway. No nuck chorris threads or any of that garbage. :P

i have a 70 and a 56 hunter on dreanor but will soon roll toons on mag just for the perpose of interacting w/ other boxer's i know you would prefer 5 but if i roll 2 toons is that acceptable ? and what classes would be most benificial to the /g ? and any final decision on the /g name ?

Zin doesn't play anymore really...he's a bum. Guild has no "needs", it's mostly just a community of boxers nothing more, and yeah, the "The Zerg" name isn't changing anytime soon :p And naw they don't care how many you roll that's up to you

Decided to roll 3 mages on Magtheridon and would love to join the guild.

I played around with a 5 box setup back in January and got them to level 20 in a few days (trial account limit). 5's a bit much for me to setup right now, so I'm just going to do 3 box team. All Blood elves, Gezibel, Jesibell, Jesibel.

Yeah, once it passes the cap, even if you don't show the offline guys, it just won't show any new folks in the pane. Like the above poster said, though, /who zerg does show everyone. :P Which is why I usually add people's mains to my friends list.

XhorThere's always room in the zerg, though you may not show up in the guild list due to a bug where more than 500 characters causes the list to not display 501 or higher. :P

You should be able to 5 box very smoothly with your setup. Your Vid card, Nvidia 8800 is very simular to the 9800, in fact i think they are basically the 'same' card with a few tweaks in the 9800... according to Tom's Hardware. I however run all 5 of my toons using 1 monitor (4 toons on the left 1/4 of the screen and my main toon taking up the other 3/4 of the screen, that way, I can monitor ALL of my guys. I believe making your vid card use 2 different monitors is taxing on your card. I also am running the 5 toons from their own WoW directory all in the same HD. WoW1, WoW2, WoW3, WoW4 and WoW5. The software that I use is KEYCLONE and its a GODSEND. The money for it is well worth it.

What is the population on Mag? I did a search on http://www.warcraftrealms.com/realmstats.php and it shows a low population. The server list pop at just under 8,000, LOL in fact is shows the Horde at 640 or something... that has to be all "Zerg"! with the other 7,000 or so Alliance.

If those numbers are true, it must be fun Pvp with all the Alliance everywhere. :thumbup:

Horde generally outnumber alliance on Mag and the population usually sits in the top of the "High" range (we had queues here up until a couple months ago). It's an active and lively server, though.

It's one of the more competitive Battglegroups in the US, so Allies are not too bad in the ruin Bgroup... but hey... pugs are pugs. Horde usually win 80%-90% of the matches I am in. Queues are instant 24/7. I only 2 box, so I may have better odds in the smaller bg's, i dunno. It's worth a shot.

I rolled 5 Shamans on Mag yesterday. I probably should have done this earlier but am happy to be there now. I was invited to <The Zerg> and was warmly welcomed with hellos and offered some coinage and 16 slot bags! Thanks Stealthy! That sure will make the early levels a LOT easier! I have a feeling I found home. I will likely not be playing my toons on Archimonde much. Anyways, I certainly look forward to all the fun here!

That's 9pm-1am my time. Usually there have been 7-12 people on until around 10-11ish, then it drops down to 5-8 of us or thereabouts. Lots more on weekends. My minifriends UI actually developed a scrollbar I didn't know it had last Sunday. :P

only read up until page 9 or so don't start flaming right away.
But there where some comments on running a team with all different characters.

I 'd think it would be perfectly doable.

You take the two healers and bind your keys so that those two chars cast heals / dot or damage at the same time (choose spells wisely)
You do the same for the dps classes and you play the tank as your main.
That way you'll be able to spread the healers, dpsers and run around with the tank as much as you like.

for my setup I 'd put the G keys for the healers, the numpad keys for the dpsers

It is really cool being on a server that has so many boxers. I run into boxers from the zerg all the time. Now if I can just find one class to focus leveling on maybe I can go have some real fun with the rest of the zerg members.

And sure enough, 9pm PST there were 40 logged, probably about 7 real people, and, 2 new 5 man hunter groups both in the Zerg right in front of me. :) I will be joining this realm for sure, transfer my 70 over with his 1500g :)

Just think of all the fun you will miss out on being Alliance on 'THE" multiboxing server who is Horde. Maybe you should think of rolling Ally on another one and come play with us smelly Hordes on this server. Just a thought! Anyways, have fun whatever you do.

The RAF thing really helps a ton, but starting over on a new server is rough. Over 6K gold sitting in the bank on my alliance server, but here - no bags, not enough money to train - ugh.

Was alliance on an RP w/ my Bro - but he's off to Iraq and God I missed world PvP. his thing was getting tired of getting griefed - which I understood - but rolling a 5 box - bring the grief on. Besides, looking forward to getting camped and asking for help and seeing 5 x shaman, 5 x mage, and 5 x other come rolling over. Rolling with a mix set-up of:

Thing is, with the RAF thing going, it seems a waste to loot the mobs you are fighting b/c if you wait an hour or two you could be looting mobs 5 levels higher!

Welcome! And you will have no problem getting camped. Seems that was my main status for a lot of the day. The Dons came and helped me get to arathi yesterday after this druid pummled me for an hour. They don't have time to do it every time you get camped so don't expect it but it is nice when they have time to help. When I get mine to 70 I'll be helping counter-camp a lot. I have some revenge building up in me and will make a day of releasing it back on the evil allies. hehe

I'm a new member here - not new to the concept of boxing (I used to two and three box in EQ) but gave it up about two months after WoW was released after rerolling to join some friends on Magtheridon...

... Alliance side.

I've just started getting back into boxing, having discovered all this nifty stuff (I used to box the old fashioned way, Alt - Tab and / or multiple computers - never even thought about key broadcasters and such). I would be tempted to roll a Horde team on Mag but that would be difficult with three accounts already full of Alliance characters. That and I'm also partial to my Mage, who has way too many exclusives that I'll never be able to get again (and other things that would be difficult to accomplish, like a full set of T2 - not useful but fun to play around with for nostalgic purposes).

I knew about a few - like Xzin - but I had no idea there were so many boxers on Mag. Mad props to you guys for setting it up the way you have.

Thanks, I started my team up and went with hunters and got to lvl 15 before I had to stop for the weekend. I will hit you up for the invite whenever I get back on. I play most week nights after I get off work at 10pm EST and on Sat, Sun, and Monday days. And thanks for the offer of bags and startup cash. Hey guys, I finally started multi-boxing 2 days ago :) I've dual boxed (shammy/warrior) before using alt+tab and 2 keyboards (was interesting) but now am rolling 4x ele shammies. If I get my account back that got hacked I will bring in my 70 prot pally to the team for instances/kara. Atm I'm lvl 24.

Oh yea, I live mainly on Frostmourne and I'm good friends with Tasty who finally convinced me to multi-box. I own a shitload of aaccounts and love all my alts. I have technically downed Illidan (all progression up to and 88% into him, but was replaced last night by a higher ranked guildie who hadn't shown up for the last 3 nights of attempts on him so I was a little annoyed and went back to my alts...in case you are wondering, I have an impeccable attendance record for my time in that guild...8 weeks or so) but am an altoholic at heart.

I just spent time on wowcensus.com and discovered that Proudmore (the crazily crowded pve server I'm currently levelling up on) has 12k allies same as Mag has 12k horde (this compares to Mannoroth, where I levelled my Pvp solo toons in relative peace and quiet-except for the fact that I was trying to instance level through SM at the same time as the headless horseman activities last fall, which has 9k allies).

I would like to level some horde mages though, and the idea of an existing multi-boxer community that would loan me some starting gold is enticing (not that whoring ourselves out to people making bank guilds isn't an exciting way for every multiboxer to start on a new server)

Hmm.. Well that sounds just about like my luck. Changing to horde isn't really an option for me, I currently have 5 alliance toons that are just for endgame PvE and most the members from those two guilds plan to restart on Mag once WotLK hits. So I was planning to stay with my old guild for PvE and look to join a second guild with my multibox toons.

I'm kind of hoping it won't turn into to much of a problem. I just plan on doing the daily quests and trying my luck with the 5mans. Maybe working into some BGs and Arenas later. I normally don't get camped to much, but when it does happen I normally just log on another toon and play it for a few hours or go get a drink and chat on vent.

Napoleonhill was my first char, this Screenshot is in the day I hitted 70 and I saw those guys with the same name in this AV, I was like "What kind of bug is that, the chars are repeating themselves", then I took a SS. I had no idea what it was.

I'm assuming based on the recent replies that recruiting is an on-going thing? I've been thinking about rolling on a PVP server (given that PVP is my thang, or at least I like to think it is) and this seems like the place to do it. Once I get my mains (classic style, five shamans) to 70 - they're sitting at 67.5 right now, I get at least a level a day since I have little else to do, what with the disability and all - I've been pondering a magex3/lockx2 combo. It'd be nice not being the only multiboxer on the server for once, heh.

If the vent info is still good, and nobody minds, I'd hop on any time and chill for a bit, meet some folks. Not one to invite myself without permission, though. :P

Back when Burning Crusade was new, several servers were locked.
This meant you were unable to create new characters at peak times, or transfer characters there at all.

If you create the toons during non-peak hours, you're fine to create them on any server even one that is locked.
At least that was how it was during the Christmas season which Burning Crusade came out in.

1 nice one is all you need, though some use more

How hard is it to multi-box sucessfully?
There is a bit of a leaerning curve, but that's part of the fun. First 8 hours will be spent messing with setup, macros, addons, etc and not much fun. Next week is pretty good as you learn. Next 3 years are a blast.

Quite a bit, personally. As a guild we are still getting started. Have done VoA a couple of times, OS once, and attempted Naxx very early on when none of us knew the fights nor were geared. We plan to do it much more now that we truly are ready.

I have only one point of comparison. Compared to Stormreaver Alliance they are slightly higher. High pop, so anything you could want is always avail on the AH.

Save yourself some frustration and roll 1 tank + 4 shaman if you really want shaman. If you do 5 shaman you wont be able to do anything once they hit 80 unless you run them solo. If you do a tank with the shaman you can do all the heroics and gear them all out.

this however isnt my primary focus. My focus is on zerging lasering down peeps in Bg's and world pvp with a dabble in arena to get min games in.

if i got so serious about pve, well HELL ill roll a rofl Dk tank:) and save alot of lvling or ill just have to make a tank friend.

We've done OS and VoA. We've also made a couple of small attempts at Naxx, but they were just thrown together quickly for an hour or two.

Actually, The Zerg HAS downed a couple of Naxx bosses I guess, but only one member of The Zerg was doing it (I 10-box).

For a while we've had only me and one other solo(ish) player to play tanks and healers - all the other teams were pure DPS. Tanking and healing are the difficult parts for MBoxers, so this has been a big problem.

But now that Pinot is interested in checking Naxx out and War, Sham, and Oath have tanks getting geared enough for Naxx, we'll be doing Naxx as a real guild soon enough I think.

<<<<Oh, and BTW current Zerglings, I reactivated my Vent server, so if Kaegro actually gets a real headset we'll be good to go. One other note - I'm in Calif all week with no WoW access, but will be back Sat, April 4th>>>

To be honest I don't see how you can stand being on a PVE server. Personally, I feel you lose a lot of the 'wow expeirence' on a carebear..i mean PVE server. :) What is it you don't like about PVP servers?

I was just kidding around with you. I played on PVE for a while and then went PVP. I found the challenges to be a huge difference with PVP. That still doesn't answer the question of what it was you didn't like about PVP.

Hey Railz,

Frankly, I'm kinda with you. I don't take much joy in killing alliance even though with 4 teams of 5 level 80 toons I can steamroll them any time I want. So if you take out the "fun" of randomly ganking alliance, you are left with the inconvenience of alliance screwing with you. This really wasn't bad with RAF on Mag - I rerolled Mag in September and had nothing but level 1s. I leveled my first team normally (questing in different zones all the way to 80), but my other teams I leveled exclusively in the Ghostlands, SM, and Stratholme (where no allies can mess with ya) with a level 80 boosting them. Didn't have much of a problem with allies when leveling my teams past the RAF levels (60-80) either. Sure, occasionally you'll find an Asshat who wants to camp you, but with as many teams as I was leveling if that happened I'd just log off my current team and hop on another one.

I have a ton of 70s on an alliance PvP server (Stormreaver) from server open 3+ years ago and I remember ganking was MUCH worse then. For some reason on Mag it hasn't bothered me much - a combination of a shift in attitude (getting on a new team early and treating it as a minor inconvenience if it happens), leveling largely in instances, and what I perceive is less ganking in general than on Stormreaver.

And I guess it does add a bit of extra flavor when you meet a number of allies that kind of face off in front of you and you don't know if they are going to /dance and /wave or start attacking. Knowing if they are jerks I can quickly run back and wipe them with five toons makes me feel a lot better about things. One morning it was especially satisfying. I actually 10-box now and have found I can cut daily running time if I run 2 teams roughly in parrallel. One asshat attacked and killed one of my teams while they were on the harpoon shooting quest (in which you are largely defenseless). He wiped that team and was doing /sit on me repeatedly when I flew up 10 seconds later with another team of 5 and 2-shotted him. Though I get no pleasure whatsoever from ganking indiscriminantly, I *do* get some pleasure from killing asshats. And with two teams on at once I can do a very nice job of camping :)

I love you so much. In a strictly platonic way of course. I do t he same thing quite often. Hide four outside of a town then throw a dagger and /beckon the horde to me :P I wanted to try using five of the focusing gems as well but they break stealth, still fun though. The most recent thing I've started playing with is distract. Three times this has happened in the middle of a town. You cast distract and the hordie (or alliance) will try to move so you cast it four more times. Sometimes they get so scared they AoE and then the guards kill them :(

Great job last night, guys! That was a lot of fun.

After our attempt a few weeks ago on Anub and getting repeatedly wiped, I wasn't too confident, but getting four new bosses down together was great.

It would be nice to set up a weekly raid time and see what more we could do. Maybe early Saturday morning server time? Starting at like 7:30 AM or so and going until Stealthy drops from exhaustion? IMHO we should continue pushing 10-man naxx for a few weeks, then maybe try the 25-man version.

Anyway, congrats on a job well done!

Sounds like a plan. Though now that I have two 10-man teams that are actually capable of doing Naxx, it would be a real shame to "waste" both of your toons on just one team when you could be involved in both. :P

A couple of other notes: a) my second set of 10 should have WG trinkets by then, so loss of DPS from low hit should be a thing of the past, b) I spent about three hours redesigning all my healing macros the other night - now switching macros around for the different bosses and different tanks should take less than 30 seconds rather than 2-5 minutes.

Have never played on a PVP server before so will most likely struggle at first and haveing some guildies to whine to might help ;-P. Yeah lol 80 pallys are great for boosting. I was boosting specced prot with all my holy gear on LOL. I just spent about 6k gold buying every BOE epic tank piece i could get lol. Defense cap is a pain to reach! With like 80% epics and the rest blue tanker pieces, everything enchanted, im still only sitting at 529 defense! lol

I'd forgotten how to do it and wasn't set up correctly, but still one-pulled it without a problem. About a level per pull on all four toons is pretty sweet.

All in all, about 3.5 hours to invite new accounts, get them set up on worldofwarcraft.com, create new toons, configure all the add-ons, and level from 1-23. Not bad.

I'm still working on my non-RAF dual-box team of prot pally + holy priest (current:39), but I have an 80 epicced hunter on the realm, dual-spec SV & MM (MM has non-interruptable high-dmg volley).

I could obviously blaze through 1-20 with my hunter leading the two lowbies just like you, but I'm wondering how fast/easy an 80 hunter could clear SM:Cath. Wouldn't be able to one-pull it, they'd probably overwhelm me in dmg, but in several pulls I could probably manage, just by aggroing 3-4 packs onto me then volley'ing on top of myself. Might even be able to handle pulling whole inner cath at once by attacking mograine then volley'ing on top of myself. My volley does 1400/tick (2.8K crits) so one volley channel should take out all non-boss mobs in the AOE.

Whaddya think? Think I should activate my RAF now and boost lowbies with the hunter, or wait til the paladin is 80? I've already done a dry-run through UD Strat and can do a baron run in ~30 mins on the hunter, that's from zone-in to being back at the entrance and zoning out ready for a reset, looting only the bosses on the way back out (all other corpses have despawned and looting them on the way wastes time)

I’ve been on the forums here many times and always found it very helpful. I started multiboxing a while ago when BC came out and a rl friend of mine decided to power-level a paladin. Since then, I’ve slowly 3-boxed mages to lvl70 and recently started a fourth account. Today, I come here for a slightly different kind of help. My raiding guild broke up (again) and I’m considering a xfer. I’m looking here hoping that my fellow multiboxers may be recruiting. I currently play an orc rogue.

Mercuro does a little bit on various days of the week(he's on vacation now though), and a few of us join in, usually on saturday, for the bosses he has trouble with soloing. I'm working on getting a full 10-box setup right now, but that will be a while until I get them to 80.

Any ranged group with a healer would be good. A couple of our strats are bad on melee but for most bosses they would be fine. I don't think we have a shadow priest group at 80, but don't make that unless you want to. Some good aoe would probably help too.

One of our most active members just quit, combined with another on vacation is probably why you have a hard time seeing people on. Also I'm not always on a character in the guild these days due to playing my other char that's in a raiding guild or just leveling other characters.

But I've got a couple groups at 80 that are clearing most of Naxx with help from a few guildies and doing VoA as well. With a few more I'm sure we could start in on Ulduar. I'm pretty active, though work and vacation will keep me in and out the next 3 weeks or so. I'm actually hoping a few more of our guildies will hit 80 during my semi-vacation so we can do more raiding. So if anyone is considering starting up or transferring over it would be great. Toons that can spec to heal are probably most needed, though anything will do.

i can vouch for The Zerg on this server, they are the most helpful guys i've ever seen. I've not been boxing long, im a 3 boxer btw, im the jst's, have jstasham, jstadruid, jstanthrhntr, jstamage, jstalock there are three of each set, atm shams are 64 druids are 60 and working on getting the rest up to 60 to start having fun in the real world, lolZ. haven't got all my guys moved to the guild yet, but i will soon, keep up the good work guys!! and thanks again.

I am extremely new to multiboxing (just started a dual-box team of 1 druid + 1 shaman) on Alliance on Destromath.
I have played WoW for the past three years, although I have never gotten a horde character past level 17.
Would it be valuable if I came over to your server and started up a dual-box pair? If so, what character classes?
Keep in mind that I am still very new to multiboxing, and am having trouble with melee across two toons O.o

Row199, we're always looking for more. If you come over to Mag, Id suggest two classes that can do DPS for leveling but can be converted over to healing classes for raids. Healers are hardest to manage for mulitboxers so are perfect for those doing only one or two toons. I'd suggest two of these three: priest, druid, shaman.

I even purchased dual specs on them! My second spec is a Killing Spree/AR FoK spam build ;)

I live in Aus so the time difference is huge. It just means I'll likely only see boxers on the weekend but thats okay. The only reason I had to resort to ganking people dueling outside Org was I couldnt find horde anywhere else at that time of day :P

edit: + Its hilarious watching paladins cons nonstop for fear of getting ganked. I like to see if I can kill people in the middle of a large group then get away like a ninja.

I may indeed startup some toons over there. I've been working on my current 3s project, but it's taking a lot longer than I expected. I should have a good bit of time to finish them off this weekend, or at least get them to 50 or so.

Once I can roll a Death Knight on my 3rd account, I'll definitely roll over there.

Sorry to double post, but figured I'd note who I am on the server, since I got a ginvite the other day.

The two characters I have over there currently are Nekrodamus and Nekrofucius. Once I get my 3 group to 55 and can create a DK on the third account, I'll be playing over there. I doubt I'm going to level DKs, but I wanted to have them for the sake of running myself through instances and stuff if needed. Plus, it's easy to get them to 60 and have 3 free levels to grant down lol.

If not, let me know.In game, I'm almost always Nekro-something. So, Nekro generally works. For screen names, I always use chaosultimamage or some variant. It's never taken, so it's just a matter of whim. I'd actually gotten used to being called CUM on a forum that I frequent lol.

Also, I'm not worried about the gold, really. I think Hammertime was gonna send me some, but I'll be on and off on mag for at least a few more days.

Just before the shutdown Monday night, I rolled 3 druid cows. DBcooper,DBcopper and DBchopper. Hoping someone is on regularly on the late night/early morning shift. I get home about 1AM PST and try to play 3 hours a night. Will \who the zerg but feel free to PST
