Back when WotLK launched about a year ago, it was great to have a couple of teams of 10 to solo farm Naxx10 for what was almost the best gear in the game (ilvl 200.... ohhh, ahhh).
Since then, Ulduar struck with that unskippable pain in the butt vehicle-based initial boss (Flame Leviathan), then a bunch of encounters that demand movement that seem to be un-soloable.
Then ToC came out and added a bunch more encounters that require movement and coordination making them un-soloable.
But now in patch 3.3 there are at least a couple of good reasons to 10-box:
There are 12 Weekly Raid Quests "bla-bla Must Die!". 50% of these are soloable: Anub'Rekhan, Instructor Razuvious, Noth the Plaguebringer, Patchwerk, Sartharion, and Flame Leviathan. (I just did Instructor Raz on my two 10-man teams this week - 15 mins work for 50 Emblems of Frost and 50 Emblems of Triumph isn't bad!)
The ICC 10-man trash can be farmed for rep rings and perhaps even a lucky epic drop or two (ilvl 264 I believe)
(To be fair, some of the above is doable by 5-man teams, but you get double the benefit with much less risk and time invested doing them as a 10-boxer.)
This is in addition to the "normal" benefits of 10-boxing:
Getting multiple shots at doing daily heroics (one team gets a crap random heroic dungeon or gets the "Additional Instances Can't be Lauched" error and doesn't want to fly, see if you have more luck on the other team)
Doing dailies on one team while another toon or two are solo- or dual-raiding in PuGs and are waiting for a raid to fill or for a raid to find another member, etc.
Running through a heroic on one team while having an AH toon parked at the AH ready to load more items for sale if they are purchased (I've found this helps quite a bit when selling epic gems)
Running two daily teams at once (this actually speeds things up quite a bit - killing/looting/etc while the other team travels/spams one key to use harpoons/does something else that requires almost no attention)
Not so much a 10-boxing specific thing as much as having lots of 80s, but using my 17 master transmute cooldowns every day makes it hard to justify doing dailies for gold anymore
Anyway, it isn't awe-inspiring, but at least patch 3.3 has thrown us 10-boxers a bone.
Anyone have any other methods of maximizing the investment of having more than 5 accounts?
