Default Yay! 10-Boxing Good for Something Again in 3.3

Back when WotLK launched about a year ago, it was great to have a couple of teams of 10 to solo farm Naxx10 for what was almost the best gear in the game (ilvl 200.... ohhh, ahhh).

Since then, Ulduar struck with that unskippable pain in the butt vehicle-based initial boss (Flame Leviathan), then a bunch of encounters that demand movement that seem to be un-soloable.

Then ToC came out and added a bunch more encounters that require movement and coordination making them un-soloable.

But now in patch 3.3 there are at least a couple of good reasons to 10-box:
    • There are 12 Weekly Raid Quests "bla-bla Must Die!". 50% of these are soloable: Anub'Rekhan, Instructor Razuvious, Noth the Plaguebringer, Patchwerk, Sartharion, and Flame Leviathan. (I just did Instructor Raz on my two 10-man teams this week - 15 mins work for 50 Emblems of Frost and 50 Emblems of Triumph isn't bad!)
    • The ICC 10-man trash can be farmed for rep rings and perhaps even a lucky epic drop or two (ilvl 264 I believe)
(To be fair, some of the above is doable by 5-man teams, but you get double the benefit with much less risk and time invested doing them as a 10-boxer.)

This is in addition to the "normal" benefits of 10-boxing:
    • Getting multiple shots at doing daily heroics (one team gets a crap random heroic dungeon or gets the "Additional Instances Can't be Lauched" error and doesn't want to fly, see if you have more luck on the other team)
    • Doing dailies on one team while another toon or two are solo- or dual-raiding in PuGs and are waiting for a raid to fill or for a raid to find another member, etc.
    • Running through a heroic on one team while having an AH toon parked at the AH ready to load more items for sale if they are purchased (I've found this helps quite a bit when selling epic gems)
    • Running two daily teams at once (this actually speeds things up quite a bit - killing/looting/etc while the other team travels/spams one key to use harpoons/does something else that requires almost no attention)
    • Not so much a 10-boxing specific thing as much as having lots of 80s, but using my 17 master transmute cooldowns every day makes it hard to justify doing dailies for gold anymore
Anyway, it isn't awe-inspiring, but at least patch 3.3 has thrown us 10-boxers a bone.

Anyone have any other methods of maximizing the investment of having more than 5 accounts?

I canceled 5 of my 10 accounts. I was spending maybe 2 hours a week playing 10 at once and the rest I was just playing 1-5. It just didn't seem worth it to me. Being able to do alot of the weekly quests by myself would have been nice but it'll just take a little longer now.

I tried running 2 heroic groups at once but after I got past the blue gear stage I never needed to drink so there was no downtime. I'm sure if you had the skill you could do 2 groups at once but I don't. I get tunnel vision and can't fucus on healing both teams at once or healing one team while moving the other.

I still think the best benefit of 10 boxing is for pvp. But still AV was the only place you could really be useful with 10 guys at the same place.

I may keep a 6th account for the AH and watching for raids but I'm not sure yet.

Interesting.... I never thought about running two heroics at once. Actually, since my guys outgear the non-ToC, non-icecrown heroics by so much, I could probably spam follow and attack macros for trash on two teams at once. Guess for at least some bosses I'd have to focus on one team, but so much of the time is spent just running or spamming damage buttons.... I'll have to give that a try.

It takes ~30 hours to go from nothing to exhaled with the new faction farming trash. Buddy's guild did it over the past week.

The procs on the rings are seriously retardedly OP imo.

Not when you consider the debuff you get in ICC.

I consolidated my 10 accounts to 5 for the same reason. It takes tons of preparation to 10 box and I didn't find it worth it to 10 box Naxx when I could get better gear from ToC and Emblems of Triumph. It was quite fun, but got to be too much hassle.

And it lookslike you only have to get to revered for those procs. And to get them on ten of your toons at once, done on your own schedule? Hmm....

BTW, week 2 raid target was Anub. Took all of ten minutes for another 50 emblems of Frost and Triumph.

I just let my second 5 run out, too. I put a lot of work into my two teams, but raiding a 10 man by myself is not at as rewarding as I thought. I'd rather focus on one group and just do raids with the tank or healer when I get a chance.

Yeah, 10-boxing at this point doesn't feel really worth the trouble. I guess I can farm ring rep, but that's about it. I miss the tank-and-spanks of old.

Merc it looks like its time to let 5 of your accounts expire until the expansion. After the gear surpassed naxx there isn't a lot to do with 10 man. I would save the money. Maybe in the expansion 10man will be good again. Have you tried Onyxia 10man? Let me know how hard those new 5 mans are. I am thinking about coming back just to run them.
