View Full Version : [ISBoxer] One issue, one question

I just have to say that I'm the proud owner of 4 Keyclone licenses and that if I would reccomend a software for someone to start with it's be KC.
But I also have to say that IS is by far the most complete and awesome solution. It has really changed my boxing. FTL Wizard, instant PiP, repeater regions just to name three are today for me a must in my boxing activity and IS has that and much more.

I had never posted my humble thanks to both authors so I took the chance to do it :).

Now, to the issue:

I guess it can be quite simple but have been hassling me and even "killing" me in arena. I think it all started after I setup the repeater regions. Sometimes when I change active toon it just activates mouse broadcasting (everywhere, not just repeater regions oc). If I don't notice it right away, well, it's game over since camera turning will create havoc amidst my team :p

Hope someone can help.

Thank you

Is it the mouse broadcasting or the follow the leader? I have seen where I switch toons and they try to follow each other. Also are you using the default key(s) for key maps and broadcasting? Puzzling.

True, it happens too. But not that often to the point of really bothering me. Not exactly like you describe, but more, the active toon (I have IS FTL) tries to follow another one and I'm not able to break follow so I have to play with follow strobe toggle. It's annoying but as I said rarer.
And I confirm it's the mouse that broadcasts to all clients.

When mouse broadcasting is on, everything repeats. To move with keys, the mouse broadcasting must be off. I know someone can figure things out. I might not be following the whole of what you are saying. Hmm How Rare ;)

Maybe I didn't explain myself correctly :):

I have bindings to both key broadcast and mouse broadcast toggle;
I always play with key broadcast on and mouse broadcast off;
I toggle mouse on for things like turn ins get quests, etc...

What happens is:
Sometimes just the fact of changing main by clicking on window or using hotkey activates mouse broadcast which is an unwanted effect.

Have you checked thay you don't have both the repeater profile and a repeater keymap activated at once?

I could imagine it might causs some trouble if you bind a key to toggle keyboard and mouse on two places.

Just a suggestion.

I think the answer to this may lie with how you are turning on mouse and keyboard broadcasting.

Are you using the "Toggle" feature of IS or do you have it setup with an action to turn them on and a seperate action to turn them off?

I ran into what you are describing when I was using the toggle, I would toggle to all, but if for some reason one of them got out of sync, turning broadcast on and off would keep that one out of sync. By changing my keymap action to step 1 turning it on (all clients) and step 2 turning it off (all clients) I could easily manage this.

The only complaint I have about that now is that the steps don't stay synced between IS clients, so if I turn Mouse Broadcasting on in Client 5, switch to Client 1, mouse broadcasting is ON but I have to hit the mouse broadcast key twice to turn it off (it became second nature very quickly.)

Using binds in ISBoxer:

One mouse button for mouse toggle
PAUSE for kb toggle

Without seeing your config it's hard to say why this might happen. (Right click "ISBoxer" at the top, select Copy to Clipboard, then it can be pasted on pastebin.com for example and linked back here)

The only thing that happens as a direct result of switching is what is configured per Slot in your Character Set, "when I switch to this character...". If it's set up to do a Mapped Key, and that Mapped Key enables Repeater, it'll enable Repeater. Otherwise pretty much impossible.

Should have done that, true, sorry. Here it is:

Are you hitting Shift+Alt+R at any point?

Part of your configuration might be confusing you. Shift+Alt+R is going to toggle both Key and Mouse repeat from the current window (not applying this change to All Windows). Then your Repeater profile has Key Repeat on by default, and toggles for Key Repeat and Mouse Repeat on All Windows. So if you start out by hitting Shift+Alt+R you're disabling Key Repeat and enabling Mouse Repeat on your current window, then hitting Mouse4 will toggle Mouse Repeat on all windows, making it off from your current window but on from other windows. So switching windows could give the appearance of "hey it magically turned Repeater on, wtf!"

Beyond that, no way is it toggling Repeat when you switch windows. Hope this helps you track down how you're getting it confused either way ;)

I was afraid it was going to be hard :p that's why I hesitated asking ^^.
I don't see where this binding is...

Upper Window:
Repeater Profiles - Default

Bottom window:
Hotkeys:
Current window - All blank

All windows - All are blank except Toggle keyboard repeating - PAUSE and Toggle Mouse repeating - Mouse 4

What I want to achieve is:
It ALWAYS broadcasts keys except if I press PAUSE and so it only works on Main
It NEVER broadcasts mouse except if I press Mouse4 and in that case it broadcasts to all windows

Should I change something?
Where is that SH-ALT-R? I think it's better to deactivate it since I always have issues with keys not at the same place like the qwerty (using azerty

Thank you

I have a suggestion for you.

I had a similar issue to you, when I switched windows either via keyboard or mouse the key repeat turned on (but not mouse).

I redid the layout wizard and noticed Lax doesn't have the wizard set to use a key to switch windows.

So I set my slots to not have a key to switch, fired it back up and lo and behold when I switch windows (just by mouse), no repeat.

For kicks I then took it all down, loaded up a default config from the wizard, added a key invocation to the windows, and switching does NOT enable repeat, so there was some interaction in my setup.

And then I loaded back my own config, added back in the switch keys, and now it doesn't repeat. So, I don't know what the issue was, I can't reproduce it, but try unsetting and reseting your window switch keys, or if all else fails - try exactly what I did above (about clearing and making a new default config, loading it into innerspace, then switching back to yours and adding the window select keys).

If someone wants to review my profile here you go.

Thank you reglar :)
I really want an assessment from Lax on what am I doing wrong and how to fix it. I need to understand it ^^

But if really desperate, I'll do what you suggest.

This is so annoying and keeps me from doing main rotation in arena...

Only problem i have is in pvp. When one toon dies and i switch to him its like he wants to continue following the dead toon. So i have to switch screens a cpl times to clear it. If i am in battle then i just stay in one spot and try and kill things.

Bah, my problem came back, even with the removal of window binds to switch. I'm just going to start fresh, with the wizard, and see how that goes.

That's why Reglar, I need a solution I can control :).
Hope someone will help us.

Redid wizard, things are much better, panick is passing. Most issues come from the fact that I have azerty and not qwerty what messes up a lot with default bindings, so I'm just looking a bit everywhere where problems can "spawn".

The Shift+Alt+R hotkey is set up in the Control key map if you used the Quick Setup Wizard. If you're not looking through any of the key maps when you're looking for hotkeys in use, then you're missing a lot :P
