Maybe it's just me, but i find the end game rather boring. I dinged 55 on a mage and then rolled DK. Got the DK to 80 and ever since then i've hated nearly every minute. I was rejected from heroic groups because of my gear. After finally managing to get some good epics i still do terrible DPS. But i also find running heroics and just doing dailies boring. So i created an Alt but i'm thing, it's going to be the same. All i seem to enjoy doing is leveling and then get to end game and go yawn. Am i missing something?

I have a second. I'm thinking of duel boxing from the start. Maybe 2 Shammys.

Hunter / Healer ( I prefered shammy ) combo was always the easiest duo for me.

I'm running 2 Gnome locks. I have over 2 months of RAF so i can easily do 2 teams to 60.

The end game raises the difficulty bar. When leveling you only need to press some buttons that light up when you fight mobs and they go down like sacks of potatoes. In the end game you need to worry about hit caps, what stats that are optimal for your spec and optimizing your rotation to deal the maximal possible dps. It might be frustrating in the beginning but pretty fun when you start to get the hang of it and see results.

If you have some good epics you should be able to deal acceptable damage. Read the class forums on elitistjerks.com to find advices on spec, gear and rotation. You can also download Rawr to get help choosing gear, enchants and gems. One of the joys of this game is to optimize the dps and see how it increases when you get new gear. (Everytime I get a new piece of gear on any of my chars I go to a training dummy to check the dps difference.)

End game wow gives you two basic options...

a) PvE
b) PvP

There is a progression for each.

In the PvE game, you need to decide on a spec (talents), learn your optimal rotation for the spec, and gear towards your strengths. Some classes get a lot more from crit then others, who might be better off stacking haste. In general, everyone should hit cap for their content (Heroics is a lower cap then Raids) first, and then worry about things like Expertise, Crit, Haste, Penetration etc.

Most of the crafted AH gear is item level 200, which is on par with heroics. Dailies or farming for gold, and running heroics will get you "entry-level" gear. There are also Naxx and Ulduar gear which is either BoE or crafted from patterns that drop there. On my server, they range from 900g to 12,000g (average price), depending on the piece. While expensive, they are massive ups.

Once you're mostly in Heroic (or 10-man Naxx) level gear, you can progress to other instances such as Naxx 25, Obsidian Sanctum, Vault of Achavon, etc. Even if you're not geared for Ulduar yet, its worthwhile doing a pick-up Ulduar 10 and Ulduar 25 Flame Leviathon only run each week.

Even if you have no interest in PvP, you'll want to run 10 arena games (in a 5's team for maximum points) each week. Go in with no expectation of winning anything, unless you're willing to battleground for pvp type gear a lot. With some battlegrounds and 10 arena games per week, you can buy a lot of pvp gear cheap, which when starting will be decent for pve stuff.

The PvP game is similar but a bit different.

The basic gear is crafted for each class. It is blue and level 78. It's optional; it will cost a fair bit, and is only so-so, but you'll be much stronger with it then without.

Strand of the Ancients and Alterac Valley seem to be the best honor per hour. However, you'll want to do the mark turn in quest as well, which requires 1 AV, 1 Strand, 1 Arathi Basin, 1 Warsong Gulch and 1 Eye of the Storm mark. I'd recommend doing whichever BG you have the least marks for.

Also participate in Wintergrasp at every opportunity. The honor there is so much faster then anything else, plus you get Wintergrasp marks, which is used for different pvp gear.

You can purchase a lot of Deadly Gladiator gear, on straight honor, either in Stormwind or Ogrimmar. This gear is much cheaper in the Dalaran sewers, but also requires Arena Points. You should arena 10 games a week, just for this purpose. Try to win, because even your losses will teach you a bit about pvp, how they beat you, what you did wrong, what can you change etc... a lot of teams will outgear you, so don't be upset if you lose all of these.

Over time, your stamina, crit and resilience will go up from the BG gear. Hopefully, you also learn the strengths/weaknesses of your class and play to your strengths. With more experience and the gear that goes along with it, your arena rating should gradually rise. As it does, you'll be able to purchase better pvp gear.

Treat the first season you pvp as a gearing up season. Try to get as much gear as possible, even if you're not going to be competitive with players who already have all of the best pvp stuff from the previous season. As the season goes on and your gear improves, your chances of winning will go up as well. By the start of the next season, you should basically be even with everyone else going in.

Friends.

If it weren't for the friendships I have with people in-game (both that I know irl and that I've met through WoW) I wouldn't be playing anymore.

i know some people who love to level and hate the end game. if you dont like the end game, just level something else. this game has so many aspects to it that you cant possible get bored of the game itself. try something new, or try what you know best. the game is tricky tho, making you think the game will forever be the same, but once you hit 80 its a totally different game with many different options to go.

remember that at 80, the leveling game turns into a gearing game, and skill is required more to actually get better gear, altho persistence (in the form of emblems, marks, rep) will get you gear as well.
