Hello, Currently its impossible for me to run in Dalaran.

I using QuadCore 2.83
4GB Ram and graphic card 9800GT...

Is upgrading the RAM to 8GB will solve the problem? It's unbareable to log in 2 by 3 just to turn in quest at major cities...

Can you define impossible?
I have runned through Dalaran in dualcore with 4GB of ram and Geforce 8800 and it was laggy, but still doable. (older comp)
Have you toned down graphics in slave windows? If not, that would improve your framerate.
You should also limit framerate on slaves to 15-20 or so to make it more playable.

Hopefully doing those will give you more pleasant experience in Dalaran.

If you have tried these and deside to use hardware upgrade route (I took it) then you should get more memory.
If your graphic card is only 512MB version that could keep your dalaran experience down aswell.

My mate had the same problem when he hit Dalaran (it had all been silky smooth in TBC and in LK up until Dalaran).

He had a Q6600 (overclocked to 3.2ish) with 4GB RAM and a 512mb 9800GTS running Vista32.

I visited him last week and Dalaran was unbelievably bad, totally unplayable with 5-clients.

First thing we did was install the Win7-64 beta, which improved things a lot. The whole 4GB was available and Dalaran was almost playable but not quite.
So, he bought 8GB RAM and, in his own words...

8Gb installed and things are looking smooth. It's still not perfect though.

I ran around a very busy Dalaran with no follow drops, but my main hovering between 12-20 fps, while the rest sat solidly at 15 fps.
My memory/CPU gadget was showing RAM usage under 6Gb, but the three cores were all hitting 100% from time to time.
So it looks like I've gone from memory bound to processor bound.

The biggest difference for me was changing where and how I ran Wow. I moved Wow off of my windows drive and onto a Raid0 drive and I symlinked the Cache, Data and Interface folders to one main copy. That made a world of difference to me. 8GB of RAM will help too.

I will try the 15-20 fps and then its bad, i will buy 8GB ram tomorrow.

After that i will post the result i get...

currently if i load in dalaran with my 5 toons... it will taken 5+ even 10 minutes... lol...

Just so you know, you need to run a 64 bit OS to use more than 3.2gb of RAM.

I took Uliena ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=User&userID=1635')'s advise and i reduce the fps to from 15-45 to 15-20 in my keyclone setting and it helps.

Now i m able to load 5 client at Dalaran and "move" (with alot lags) ofc. But still manage to reach the npc i want to go, except that i waited about 2-3 mins for him to appear. I duno is that common or not. i still lost my "follow" afew times. I using minimum setting which i found in a thread. (4get what forum)

I looked at my task manager, i only using less thann 3GB Ram... so i m not sure upgrading to 8GB will help, since its not even reach the 4GB capacity.

And Lastly, Coltimar ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=User&userID=7431'), yup i m using XP 64 bits, thanks!

you guys are silly.
You realize WoW isnt the only thing running on your comp right?

and you have many other procceses running?
such as Explorer.exe?
and many other processes like even windows it self!
Thats where the rest of your ram is going!
To feed your other computers proccesses!
OTHER WISE YOUR COMPUTER WOULD EXPLODE.
so more RAM is in order.
6-12gb is a great amount.

5 wows, 4 slaves = 15fps, main = 30fps + terrain distance= max

8gb + 512video+ quad processor will do fine in dalaran (not perfect, just fine)

Now i can successfully load at dalaran on its busiest days!

There will be still lags and etc, but its shld be within the acceptable range!

Thanks all the Bros and Sis for info!!!

They broke something in 3.1 because I used to run my 5 guys through Dalaran easily and now its a slideshow. I changed nothing on my PC except the WoW build.

I have a feeling Dalaran is so slow because it's so small. Too much crap going on in such a little area it forces everything to be loaded/cached since its considered close by to your character.

Go into your video options and check out the new things added :S some may be turned on by default? (Playing one character on Ultra settings makes my pc QQ in dalaran lol)

According to that link the best you'll get is 4GB on a non-server 32bit OS with PAE enabled. I'd still go for 64bit.

apparently getting an SSD and putting the data directory on it and symlinking fixes all issues in dalaran including global warming and world hunger

Of course but with ..... 4GB Ram and graphic card 9800GT .... even SSD isnt enought.
it s better to buy fist big memory for runnning 5 wow in dalaran.
With 12 Go or much more you ll play smotthly

I'm curious if anyone running multiple comps is having similar lag issues to the ones described here.

I run 3 computers, 1 good one for the main and 2 very basic old computers as additions to run the slaves via keyclone (similar to what is suggested on the keyclone website). Dalaran is still chunky but doesn't drop follow or anything else.

I've switched from 4 Gb ram (with pagesys file) to 8 Gb ram (without pagesys file) on Vista 64 with an already build Raid0 array (150 MB/s read outpout) and it changed everything !!!
I also took a USB2 key drive for vista readyboot feature (works quite well actualy).

I'm running 4 copies of WoW and when I'm in Dalaran, the follow doesn't break anymore.. I can also flight (280%) over the city (for 8 sec) without breaking the /follow either.
Before my Ram upgrade It took 6 minutes to go from the Alliance Inn to the krasus area for my 4 toon, which were constantly breaking follow. I was considering changing my return stone to another Inn like K3 or the sewers.

Anyway ... be sure to upgrade to 8 gb of ram before changing anything else in your setup
And I think that a 64 bit OS is far easyer to install than a 32 Bitwith tweaks just to get the whole 4 GB active
