Ok, so I got my 4th account today, thinking "yeey, quadboxing! Now all I have to do is transfer my 42 mage to my 4th account and I'm ready!" So I got home and fired up account management, thinking it'd be a piece of cake.

I was wrong. I tried and tried, but the transfer-thingy kept claiming my accounts were inelligible for a cross account-character transfer. Eventually I called the billing support and asked what was up. Here's the call, based on my memory:

"Hi, my name is xxx xxx. I recently tried to transfer *blah blah blah*"
"Ok, gief account name and stuff"
"kek, xxx and xxx"
"The names don't match, one is xxxNxxx, the other is xxxBxxx"
"... Dammit, I must've misspelled it" (keep in mind, my first account is three years old T.T)
"Ok, then gief CDkey so I can fix"
"Um, lemmie search for it"
"... ... ..."
"I'm gonna call you back, can't find it."

So I finally find it and call back, thinking "YES, this is it!"

"Hello again, I just called regardning *blah blah*"
"Hello, ok what you need to do is send us an email with your:
- CDkey
- Name and adress
- The answer to your secret question
- Photo ID"
"kkthnxbye"

Photo ID? Secret question? O.o

Took me a while to get all the info, seeing as I had NO idea what the answer to my secret question was. One thing's for sure, though: I'll never ever EVER misspell my name.

Cheers,
Hippie

Are you paying by Credit Card?

How is a photo ID going to confirm that the misspelt name is in fact you...???

My friends account was stolen once. He was pretty bad with computers, had tons of Malware on his machine and would always download bad things.

Anyway his account was used for Gold selling spam. To get the account back he had to Fax in a bunch of personal information including his drivers ID. Took over two weeks just to get his account back.

On a good notes he’s been a lot better about being more selective on what he downloads or clicks. They mean serous business after hearing about your experiences

@Thinus: Yes, I'm using a credit card.

And seeing as the misspell is rather obvious, so hopefully the photo ID will suffice. Besides, I was just following orders (I'm a sheep :P)

@Bradseter: At least we know one thing for sure, then, that blizz checks up on things, which I don't mind. I just hope I won't loose two weeks of paid gaming on the account just because of one silly letter T.T

This is a clear example of how the lack of common sense prevails over rigid call scripts. One letter, same billing address? Same CC? C'mon now. Clearly you own both.

For any name change done by blizzard EU photo ID is required, even for a misspell.

Send the ID via email/webform and call them 30 mins after sent and they will amend it over the phone.
Have the rest of your account info to hand as they will ask for it too.

Xzin each account is looks upon on a individual basis by blizzard staff, doesn't matter if all details match on 2 accounts.

thnx for the tip, MC, gonna call 'em tomorrow to make sure they got my email and stuff.

Even though I agree with Xzin (I did find it a bit odd as I named all my four accounts and the woman on the phone didn't even stutter before she gave me an obvious "standard approach"-answer), I do think it's neat that they're that strict about it, as I can imagine many MANY ways of tweaking the system if all you had to do was make a call.

Even so, I want my accounts to transfer my charracter now, not two weeks from now :P

You won't have to wait for 2 weeks :P
Remember maintenance tomorrow I think their phone lines open an hour later than normal.
