So I'm pretty new to dual boxing and loving the community around here. I've toyed with a few ideas and the one I've got now, I'd like some input on.

I can only run 2 at a time. Only 1 machine and 2 accounts. I've tried 3 (using a friends account), and it just doesn't really become enjoyable since my system is being dragged down. I'm fine with this.

So, for the moment 2's the tops for me.

Things I've tried:

Shammy (main) / Druid (slave)
--I wanted to run the shammy as main since totems, to me, become a bit of an upkeep. I can easily click rotation macros and such. I figured the druid would be restro / balance and the shammy was elemental.

I got them both to 11 and decided to try something else. Yes, I know, 11 isn't that high to make a decision. I'm just trying to get a feel for it all right now before I really decide what to level.

Shadow Priest (main) / Holy Priest (slave):
Granted, they're both at 11 as well and it's not like there's any separation in duties. However I know it's likely to be a pain to get groups later on. Which, brings me to my next thought...

I have a 70 warrior tank and at times it can be a chore to tank as a warrior. There's a lot to do and it's fairly conditional. Plus, I'd just like to try a different tanking.

So, I was thinking Druid / Druid, Paladin / Paladin, or Paladin (Druid) / Priest?

What do you think would be the best 5 man (or even 10 man) dual boxing tanking pair? And by best, I really just mean the "easiest" learning curve and maybe "least" to keep up with.

I'd personally love to do druid / druid because I've always wanted to level druids. However, with all the shape shifting, I'm not exactly sure how I'd pull it off. Or well, how easily it'd be to pull off. I could just be psyching myself out too. I'd also love the HoTs instead of relying on straight single heal hits.

I'm also trying to keep with the same class (druid / druid or pally / pally) because then I can see what debuffs others have and act on them on the healer.

Which brings me to another thought. Which is easier to do in the background, tanking or healing? I've been running with my healer in the background and it's gone pretty well so far. Again, I'm taking into account that the projects I've tried, I've only gotten to 11.

So.. sorry about the wall of text. Just trying to get some ideas.

Paladin tank for sure...

The key thing about paladins when dualboxing is they are easy to tank with compared to warriors(warriors are basically doing something every global cooldown.

Then for the healer I'd do - Shaman, or Priest, or Druid

BTW, Paladins can AE tank very well... Add in a healer for tons of fun ;)

Edit:

I missed this part..

Then do druid/druid :)

1) You like the combination
2) It is playable without to much effort (aka, not like 2 rogues)

Shifting isn't a big deal. Unlike warrior stances, you don't change stance much at all in PvE (a lot more for running in PVP)

For example, if your tanking your in Bear (not Bear then Cat then NE then bear again... It's just plain Bear) If your DPSing, your in Cat unless you get an add on you and need to tank or something... If your healing your in tree, unless HoTs are not enough for that fight, and in that case your a NE.

Some things to think about...
2 druid = both characters have stealth! (sneak to bosses and assassinate them)

My first dual-boxing experience was when BC first hit. I had a Holy/Smite priest and a Prot pally. I actually just used 2 keyboards and 2 mice and had no problems. Once you get Holy Nova on the priest, and Consecrate on the pally it becomes almost trivial to level. Run in with the pally, consecrate, and then spam Holy Nova. Drink, repeat. As the pally and priest level it becomes easier.

@Laeelin:

The stealth runs to bosses is pretty much what I had in mind. A little clunky at first but with some practice, no problem.

And much of what you bring up about druids tanking / healing is what I had in mind.

@Ghallo:

That's pretty much what I was thinking of before. Just a holy AOE madness.

I think in time I'll try both. Maybe coin flip to decide on which to start with. :)

Thanks for the input. If anyone else has any ideas or suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

Well I'm currently running with a Drood as the MT, with shammy and 2 locks as the "minions". Healing is fine so far. My setup is as follows:

F1=Heal main or main's target
F2=Heal shammy
F3=Heal Lock1
F4=Heal Lock2

Just charge in or faerie fire pull the mobs with the druid, 2 or 3 seconds to get some aggro, then let loose/commence heals.

My various DPS cycles are just attached to Mouse 3 and Mouse 4 (with shift or Ctrl as situational variations). E.g. for hard fights, the shammy doesn't lightining Bolt, the locks do the dps and he just heals.

Works a treat for me so far. I've run with various 5th party members through various instances, and done quite a few as 4 man. Lots to think about, but practice makes perfect.

I have two druids one resto and one feral. It is very effective for doing stealth runs once you have the gear to do it. I can kill quite a few bosses in heroics with just the two of them.

I didn't level them together though. I leveled one the old fashioned way(and before the 1.8 patch :cry: ) and one following a hunter. The druid/hunter was one of my favorite setups. A warlock would work too as there is a good synergy with the dps/pet classes and druids. Roots, pets, hots and quick killing make it a snap to get xp/hr.
