I started a Wiki page with the framework Xzin suggested (http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums2/viewtopic.php?p=1268#1268) to help newbies get into multiboxing and provide tips and tricks for experienced multiboxers.

Multiboxing (on WoWWiki) (http://www.wowwiki.com/Multiboxing)

I added discussion page to help people who are editing there to talk and figure out what they woudl liek to add. I'm not to good at wiki editing justs learning so if there is a better way let me know and annex the discussion page.

P.s... could we get a sticky on this....

Awesome.

I threw (very near literally—it's a mess that needs to be edited through, but the content is gold) most of Xzin's FAQs up on that page, too.

Cool, I will start editing those pages with revisions/upgrades. I prob should forward the old one too.

Hmm, all in one page is probably not the best approach, but its a start =]

Yeah I talked to Zach about it. Plus I figured we ould tlak about the layout more as it got larger. I did mention the shear size of the wiki page is intimidating. Some more though on the layout and what is similar between then create seperate pages that each link to I think would help limit the size. Also creating seperate pages for each header may help.

I think the best idea is to spread out the content into 3 sections:

What is "Multiboxing"?
Dual Boxing
3+ Boxing

I've not gotten into multiboxing very deeply, but from an outsider's point of view, two-boxing is the first step, then anything after that could be another. Dualboxing can be done with one computer (sort of), but when you get to 3 or more, you're looking at multiple computers. (Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong here.)

So, I can set up two additional pages, maybe title them something like Multiboxing_(2) and Multiboxing_(3+) (although I'm not sure how the Wiki naming scheme will take to that.

Any other thoughts on idea organization?

I am writing a beginners guide for 2 boxing. Will post here and on the Wiki soon.

Perhaps even have 5 boxing as a separate section.

I only 3 box, but from what I've read 5 boxing might differentiate itself in the fact that you have a full group that can do instances more readily than 3 or perhaps even 4. It appears 5 boxing lets you use instances for grinding out levels much better than you can with just 3.

I don't really go into instances much with 3 until I'm a bit overpowered for them. Maybe I'm just chicken!

This in itself may not be enough to have 5 boxing as a separate section but it just seems from my viewpoint that 5-boxing is a big step up from 3-boxing on how you set it up and what you can accomplish in the game.

Hi guys.

I guess I'm a pretty lightweight compared to some of you; I have a dual box set-up I used to level a pair of warlock/priest duos on two separate server.

Anyway, I thought I'd post here, because I contribute to WoWWiki a LOT, mostly in copy editing pages and cleaning them up--I am a technical writer and copy editor in real life.

There's a lot of information on one page, like others have mentioned. The format is also nonstandard, and because the page is currently a hodgepodge of copy/paste jobs, it's a little hard to read and a bit intimidating for a reader considering dual boxing for the first time.

I would strongly encourage you to consider the following. If it's reasonable I'll do the work it takes to do this:

Create a separate page for dual-boxing, and set up links between both the multi-box and dual-box pages. Currently, the link for "Dual Box" is a redirect to multi-boxing. For most novices, wrapping their head around the concept of playing two games at once is more than enough to digest.

Reformatting the existing text so it's not a wall of text. This is the kind of thing I do the most clean-up in in WoWWiki, making it readable for the audience.

There are also typos and grammatical errors sprinkled through the page that could use some cleaning up.

Finally, if people are OK with it I think it would really help the readers if we could post photos (thumbnails with a link to the full size, uploaded to their server, per their style) of a couple of typical set-ups, as well as screenshots.

As the text gets massaged, one thing to think about is, who is the intended audience for this page? For most people, the top two questions they will think of is:

- OMG you must be nuts. Why do this?

- Isn't this against the EULA?

The second question is at least addressed, but it's also buried in the middle of the page. Reorganizing the text or presenting it in a way that addresses these primary issues might make the page more interesting for someone who might otherwise never consider dual boxing.

Just my $0.02. :D
