View Full Version : Horde and Alliance Multi Boxing RAF 1-60 Leveling Guide
Horde and Alliance Multi Boxing RAF 1-60 Leveling Guide. No boosting. No twinking. No grinding. Just quests.
Everyone should be using this. It takes all the guess work out of Multi boxing toons to level 60 while on the triple xp. Its the best format for a guide (IMO). Its in game.
I didnt do any collection quests (Im 5 boxing). I didnt do cloth turn in quests. When your 5 boxing 6+ teams its not possible to get all that cloth. I didnt put in some zones because I out leveled them. The quests were grey. There are so many quests that are not collection, that there is surly many ways to get to level 60. This guide is one path to level 60. I put in many hours making this guide. I want everyone to know about it.
I would like to give credit to the people who got me started on this. See this post by Mendicant (http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=12142) . Thanks to Mendicant who got this started. Also Thanks to wougoose who made the first TourGuide files. Because of wougoose I was introduced to TourGuide. I totally got hooked on TourGuide. (If you leveling you need this add on, the default files are all done on normal xp and solo play.). Thanks to Upas and his work as well. Upass post made me want to post too.
Add ons you should have for this guide to work.
#1 TourGuide down load it here -TourGuide (http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/fileinfo.php?id=7674) and learn about it here TourGuide (http://www.tekkub.net/addons/TourGuide)
#2 LightHeaded down load it here LightHeaded (http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info7017-LightHeaded.html)
#3 TomTom down load it here TomTom (http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info7032-TomTom.html)
Also please get theses as well.
#4 QuestGuru (http://wowui.worldofwar.net/?p=mod&m=4855)(makes the quest log so much better)
#5 QuestHelper (http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/quest-helper.aspx) (puts quest info on you map)
#6 QuestAnnouncer (Lets me see that all my slaves didnt skip anything by reporting in party chat their quest progression.) (QuestAnnouncer is inside "QuestGuru" you just need to turn it on.)
I used SciTE-WOWInterface (http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/fileinfo.php?id=4989) to write and edit the files. I will be using TourGuide Recorder (http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/fileinfo.php?id=10499) to help write the Alliance guide.
Now youre ready to get the TourGuide files that are used for leveling on triple xp.
(Alliance) Install instructions: AFTER installing the above, delete everything in this folder: C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\TourGuide\TourGuide_Alli ance. (you can make a back up if you wish) Then un-zip the 2 Alliance files below in to that folder.
(Horde) Install instructions: AFTER installing the above, delete everything in this folder: World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\TourGuide\TourGuide_Hord e. (You can make a back up if you wish) Un-zip the 2 Horde files below in to that folder.
As requested here is the latest build.(Both are done level 1-60)
(Alliance) Update 4. 11-20-2008 (2 files due to size)
(Horde) Update 2. 10-13-2008 (2 files due to size)

Yes, please link the tourguide files in this post if you could so we do not have to scroll through the other post just to get the necessary files. Heck once it's all finished up I think this will be sticky worthy.
Nice ELBA :D
you beat me to finishing :) Now I have less work to do.
I just hit L60! With a /played 2days 7 hours. I was working on the guide so I'm sure many of you can beat that. I'll post the last file asap. It's 4 am and I need some sleep before work. lol

Without me trying to decode your tourguide file, did you skip most of the collection quests?
yeah ELBA did (unless possibly it was a super easy collection quest you'd finish on your own anyways without going out of your way/killing extra mobs)

I just add this whole zip file into my addons folder like any other addon right?
I just fixed a typo so the "58_60_Hellfire_Peninsula.lua" file will show up in game. Also added Install instructions to the "read me" file and the post here. I renamed the file too. This should complete this guide. I will read posts here to see if anyone is haveing problems. Also please give feed back even if it's just a /played time lol. Enjoy!

I've tried quite a few guides, both in addons and guides like Joanas and I have to say I'm very impressed with the effort in this TourGuide. Coupled with the addons listed in the OP, I managed to get a set of Shaman from 40 to 50 in about 6 hours. And that's with breaks, speccing, and fiddling with macros. Very good job indeed.

If you wanted to put that in the main post, so people don't have to scroll, I'm happy to host. Might also be a good idea to link this in the wiki.
PS. went ahead and added tourguide and this guide to the wiki. http://www.dual-boxing.com/wiki/index.php/Addon:TourGuide
I'm still finding some small mistakes/errors. I'll be uploading / correcting the files asap. My heart is really in this so I want it to be perfect. lol. I'll also put in notes when to use the TG macro for using an item. (/click TourGuideItemFrame) If you see (TGM) that means use the macro. (I have it on my action bars). And more hearth stuff to make it faster. Thanks for all the feed back and the wiki. Keep it coming.

I downloaded the guide that was capped at 54 do i need to download the file again for the newer version?
Just hit L30. 19hours 19 mins /played! I fixed a few things on levels 5-30. They are much smoother. I only added one quest “Old Whitebark's Pendant” while doing “A Somber Task”.
Also changing the file name to show latest version TourGuide_RAF_Horde_Update1.ZIP. The file is 2 files now due to size. (20KB is max for this site)
I decided not to add the (TGM) note. If the TG frame pops up, click it or use the macro.

yeah I suggest also making a guide for this part as well. I haven't played WoW in months, and coming back to this on trial accounts is gonna be a challenge.
Just a reminder I did add install instructions to the original post. “Install instructions: AFTER installing the above, (add-ons) delete everything in this folder: World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\TourGuide\TourGuide_Hord e. (You can make a back up if you wish) Un-zip the files below in to that folder.”
I just hit level 60 /played = 2days 4 hours. Not great I know. I was working on the guide and making it smoother. I uploaded new files. (Update2)
Update2= improved levels 31-60
Changes were to levels 31-60 this time. I fix a few errors that were mostly typos. I added more notes and coords. I did rename some files to better match where the user’s levels are during the guide. (34-37 is now 34-36 and so on) I did add 3 quests to WPL (Mrs. Dalson's Diary). A small chain that is right at the Dalson's Tears Cauldron. Fixed a missed quest turn in. (Hinterlands- Rin'ji is Trapped!) I added 2 spots use your hearthstone to speed things up.
I’m going to take a few days off for travel. I may take one more Horde team to 60 when I get back. My 90days is almost up and Nov. 13th will change everything. I am starting to doubt if I can make an Alliance guide like this one. I will try and keep you posted. My hope is that using the TourGuide Recorder will speed things up enough to make it happen.
Thanks for everything. Enjoy the guide. All feedback is welcome.

so im assuming this horde guide is for the trolls/orcs since it starts in durator? is there anyway to make other starting areas for taurens/undead/belfs?
ps. cant wait for the alliance guide! :)
Any race will work. Get to level 5 and start the guide. Start with “Eversong Woods (5-12)” On triple xp getting to level 5 is very fast. (3 kills and you level 2 lol) If you are not blood elf just roll a blood elf and use the RAF summon to summon your party there.

So I downloaded the addons, installed them and also your package. I have two questions:
1.) So my US Server was down after patching for awhile, so I decided to start a couple drainae shammies. Loaded up the proper TourGuide and off I went. Which addon is not letting me see my other quests? I can only see the text for the top quest that it is trying to guide me through??? Or is this some kind of 3.0.2 bug??? It is frustrating the hell outta me.
2.) I have a pair of level 19 tauren shammies that I would like to get into the stream of your stuff. How would be the best way for me to do this???
Thanks in Advance.

I just realize the only issue I had with this guide. Only two/Five accounts have BC. Gosh darnit X(
I did that because at the time I wasn’t getting the pop up on my slaves for the escort quests. (Do you want to help on the escort quest? Yes or No). Now I do so I assume everyone can too. So test it and see if your other party members get the pop up.
Also Quest Helper has been updated and works ok on timed escort quests. The turtle one in Tanaris (Tooga's Quest) would crash wow. So you can disregard that note too. It should work ok with everything on.
I am working on my 1st draft of the Alliance guide. My 1st team is; 1 Dwarf shadow priest, 1 Gnome mage, and 3 Gnome warlocks. I’m in my 40s and will post a 1st draft when I’m 60. (2-3 days I’m sure) However 2 things are going on that where not going on when I made the Horde guide. All the zombies are killing me and or my quest givers. It’s not easy to just quest and level right now. The other is, all the xp I’m getting from the Holloween Event. I’ll be running a 2nd team to 60 and avoiding that xp. The 2nd team should be my 2nd draft. I will be doing what I can in the horde guide on alliance side. Booty bay is both sides so that part is done. The mastery quests in STV and the WPL caldron quests will be done too. Oh and Mudsproket. I like pets so all those xoo chicken quest will be in the guide.
Again many thanks for all the feed back! Keep it coming. Alliance side is now a work in progress. Bookmark this post and check back soon.
Thanks for this awesome guide, I'm new to multiboxing and it helped me bring my first double-mage team to 60 in 2days5hrs /played. I decided to skip most of the escort quests, but with all the trick-or-treat turnins everything evened out and I dinged 60 ahead of the guide.
One thing I noticed is that you skipped the stealing knowledge ('http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=3517') quest line. I know, I know- it's sort of a collection quest... but the 4 tablets spawn in the same general area and it yielded around 130,000 exp total. Also, it might be worth mentioning that cloth turn-ins give you a very decent amount of XP with RAF.
Again, great work! I can't wait for your alliance guide.

I wanna dualbox 2 gnome locks, and I only have one TBC account, so I think I'm gonna try to make a draenei toon on main account and summon the alt gnome lock, then delete the draenei and make the gnome lock on the main account and summon him with the alt. Very nice, love to see this community help out each other. Makes me proud to have joined this community of dedicated boxers. But if think 2 days 4 hours is bad try 2 days 18 hours which is how much time it took me to get my 4 man team to 60. Lots of running around and afk time :(. Just finished using the Horde guide for my first Horde group. I had 3 diff classes which made things lil hard when it came time to train.
/played to 60 1day 22hrs
Boomkin, 2mage and 2 locks
Not bad considering I have played Alliance the last 3+ years
Umm, I might be mistaken but you didnt have the step in the hinterlands to turn in the blood..no big deal but might want to wedge it in there in that onslaught of quest turn ins.
Also, the quest you pick up in UC sending you to the Plaguelands. I'd add a note that he pats the middle ring of the city. I looked for a while and finally had to use wowhead to figure that step out.
If I realized that quest could of been picked up in the other cities when I was there by the Warcaller guy. He pats in all the cities.
Good job overall on the guide man. I give ya 4 stars :)
Oh man, that last robot escort quest took a half level of griding mobs to drop..omg
But that was actually the first time I did all those and got the chickens lol

ELBAELBA,
Great work on this guide. I'm newly back to WoW and I'm giving multiboxing a shot with two Draenei Shaman. I think I started using your guide around level 10 or 11 and it is working great. I'm currently level 26, so I'm eagerly awaiting the 33+ level areas.
I really like what you've done with the various addons and my only real issue was between your recommended addons and Jamba's. There is a slight amount of overlap, but not too much.
patag
Update2 is 1-40. I added levels 30-40. I left "Ding" notes in so user can see when I dinged a level. I added "The Missing Diplomat" to Duskwood (29-30). Please go back and redo that file. It’s a sleeper of a quest chain. I woke up at the end (Part 17) in Dustwallow Marsh when I got 26,250 xp!
This update is a 1st draft. No playtesting. However my 1st drafts are much better nowadays. I’m sure you’ll find some errors. I am pushing to get done by the 13th. However 20 levels in 4 days will be tuff. Rest assured I’m hard at work here, for you guys and myself.

Aw too bad you take the BE path, i only took 2 extra accounts and didnt make them tbc activated, makes that part quite useless for me. Still ofcourse, a thumbs up still!
After playing some WotLK, I’m back at it. I added levels 40-51 and the Night Elf start area levels 1-5. I’m almost done with the The Hinterlands and will add it after play testing.( 2 days)

Sorry for double-posting, but I need an answer. I don't think Its working right.
All races can use the guide. Get to level 5 in you start area, then go to the Blood Elf start area. You can’t take quests in a start area that’s not yours until level 5. That’s why it’s like that. Later I’ll go back and add level 1-5 for each race. ATM the horde has one 1-5 file the Orc/Troll start area. The other start areas are missing. So that’s what you’re getting.
Thanks for posting I’ll add some information regarding this in my “read me” file. So others are not confused, when they start the guide.
Start any race and pick your start area file level 1-5 and skip the other level 1-5 files. Once you’re level 5 all races go to the level 5- 12/13 file. Horde “5-12 Eversong Woods” Alliance 5-13 Azuremyst Isle”
We want you to get to the new start areas as soon as possible. They are so much better for xp, time, and quest rewards than the old start areas. Take Mulgore for an example, that map is so huge and such a time waster. We want you in the most up to date areas to get the most “bang for the buck” so to speak. The same goes for Dustwallow Marsh and Mudsprocket. That whole map got reworked and updated with new quests for both Horde and Alliance.
I’m about to add more levels to the Alliance, up to level 58 later today. Atm I’m play testing it lol.
As always keep the feed back coming, good or bad, PM or post.
Thanks and enjoy!

good stuff
keep up the good work!!
One question...
How can I read the guide file?
It's not working as I pictured....
I just uploaded an update. The Alliance is now complete to level 60. Whew.
It’s been one hell of a ride making this guide. I wish I had this guide at the beginning of my RAF. However, I have learned so much by going thought the process of it all, that I’m glade it turn out the way it did. I may just RAF again.
Therefore for all you new RAF’ers I have some advice. Think big, real big. Plan out 3-5 teams at least before you start. Play times to 60 are so that you can make a team level 60 with in 2 weeks. Make every class so later if you need to play that class it will be there and be level 60. Make a team of “mules” that are warlocks and or paladins; they get the free level 30 mount. Save money, don’t train every spell just a few main ones. High level mules are great for camping a rare spawn mob or vendor item or even a resource node. Make a team on the opposite fraction. See how the other side lives. (You may want to keep it a secret) If you’re on a pvp server go to a new server and roll the team there. Also try the other types of servers PVP, normal, RP, or RPPVP. I found it fun to do just one team like that. Don’t spread your self too thin. Later when your server is off line play the new server until yours comes back up.
Just like the solo player we all once were, we will have a “main” team and “alt” teams. Before now no one wanted the burden to level up an alt team. With RAF that burden is gone. We now can have many alt teams.
After you have your teams planed out, make sure you have room for all those toons. I found it hard to decide who to delete on my main account to make room. So have a plan for that as well.
As to the guide, there is always room for improvements. In the beginning I wanted a guide to get me to 60 with out having a lost feeling. Not knowing were to go. I wanted a path to 60 that was multi boxer friendly. Then I thought, forget about me what do the masses want. I want to give a guide that works for the most people. How can I make everyone happy; the 5 boxer vs. the 2 boxer? What if you’re starting a new server and don’t have high level toons there? You would have no money or the ability to farm money. So I ruled out boosting, instance runs, and the cloth turn in quests. Later speed became an issue. One thing we all want is it to be fast. What’s the played time to 60 using your guide came up. So I worked in hearth spots the best I could to speed it along. I like pets so all the OOX chicken quests are in there. However for some that could be a time waster if you don’t find the [Distress Beacon] right away. Another example of catch 22 came up in the Barrens Horde guide. I thought for pvp servers. The guide should get the most xp out of the Barrens before having to leave. In the Barren you can’t get ganked so I wanted to stay there as long as I could; besides it’s the best chat channel in the game. However killing those semi rare spawns (with sometimes big patrol areas) for the loot item that starts a quest, was a time sink if you couldn’t find them right way. In summery, there is always room for improvements, I’m just trying to keep as many people as I can happy.
As always keep the feed back coming, good or bad, PM or post.
Thanks and enjoy!

I am a new multiboxer and leveling two RAF mages. With this guide, I was 20+ and out of ghostlands in no time. Quests yield great xp and leveling is a breeze due to lack of time consuming collection quests. I haven't gone past ghostlands yet, but if the rest of the guide is like this, we have a gem of a guide here. Finally I can have a way to level to 60 without being bored to tears.
As you mentioned, there is always room for improvement but I feel that the guide is pretty damn good even without future touch-ups. The only minor inconvenience so far is finding which NPC hands out which quests (sometimes there are no tomtom coords). Again, not a biggie since most players are familiar with quests by this point.
Thanks for the time you have put into this. Just one question: How long /played do you think would take my team (2 mages) to get to 60 with this guide? I'm guessing a couple of days or so... Any other tips for a new dual boxer would be appreciated.
cheers mate

if i check the posts here it would probably been between 2/3 days :P
I openly ask for people to PM me with their play times for each file. I would like to add those times to the “READ ME” file. Once I have them all I would post them here as well. Just use the in game stop watch (click the clock on the radar) while playing though the file non stop. It’s just tricky because the next file auto loads seamlessly. Here are the 3 Alliance files I have so far.
Searing Gorge, (51-52).......... 0 hours 40 mins
Western Plaguelands,(55-58) ...2 hours 50 mins
Hellfire Peninsula, (58-60)...... 1 hours 20 mins
Any feedback on the “Ding” notes? I started leaving those in at level 30ish on the Alliance guide. I used the TG recorder and noted when I dinged for myself to help write the guide. I thought they would be good for people who didn’t start the guide from the beginning.
If anyone has played the guide all the way though, would you post your play time to level 60 please? Also note team make up and server type. (pvp servers always take longer) I hope to have some played times for each set up. (2, 3, 4, and 5 boxer times)
To: joekirk; Please keep us updated on your progress. You being a new multi boxer and a 2 boxer, I’d really value your feed back. We have a lot of new people coming in and using this guide. I find it amazing to see someone’s 1st post here on this topic. (Your played time to 60 using the guide exclusively should be 2 days +1-8 hours, or less is my guess, start planing out team 2,3,and 4 now lol. RAF is 90 days!)
As always keep the feed back coming, good or bad, PM or post.

One little thing I see is that you seem to push into outland at 58 (I may be blind, missread, something)... why? RAF x3 xp goes away as soon as you go into outland (is what I've been told anyway), so why not just level from 58-60 in azeroth?
Outland quests are easier to do at 60 anyways.
Hmm how can I say you’re so wrong in a good way and not hurt your feelings? We have PM’d each other and I really like you. Don’t take this the wrong way. It’s the opposite of what you have said in that post. I’ll just give a few facts on the topic. RAF ends at level 60. You still get triple xp in Outlands. Outland quest rewards and xp are 10 times better than old world content. Most of the 1st few quests are just pick up, run here, turn in. The 2 bombing quests are so easy, fast, and fun. I always hit 60 before the guide ends. I just kept the guide going to finish that last quest chain. At level 58 you can pick up the quest “though the portal” and do Outland quest. Once you hit level 58 its all down hill. You should be level 60 in 1.0- 1.5 hours tops. Hope this helps. Again I hope I didn’t hurt your feelings. PM me again and we’ll talk.

Nice guide Elba. Wish i had a similar guide going from 0-60 the umpteen times i did it.
I think the community would benefit from a 60-70 guide and a 70-80 guide that is:
multibox friendly
tourguide friendly
no grinding
I have started looking at the alliance quests by zone for that purpose. Have you figured out a way to ferret out the quests that the collected item can be picked up by all in the party? These really shouldn't be skipped as they are essentially a one player collection quest.

This guide has been a big help to me, giving me the flexibility to have wowhead type data avail without alt tabbing, and questhelper wasn't real user friendly. Several of the chains that carry over from the lower level guide weren't available to me since my night elves came to the area at 13, but that's on me.
Might make sense to expand the notes to warn of which quests are long chains not to skip. I didn't do the annoying stillpine totem chase of doom so I couldbn't talk to princess stillpine is a minor example. Being L13 and not talking to the admiral guy on the southern shore as a result cost me a handful of easy quests (the dead captain and naga to the far north for example).
Some inaccuracies in locating NPCs I saw, lots of times the crazy taxi arrow was telling me the NPC was 100+ yards away when I was standing at them. A couple of collection quests I didn't expect to see (Dragon Bones for one), and the order of when quests are turned in was a little non intuitive. 9 hours to L22 isn't bad for me, especially with fairly frequent interruptions from my wife and kids.
All in all great guide, great effort. Thanks.

Sojolly Oh I would love those guides too. I’m hooked on TourGuide. I may RAF again though. So it’s up in the air as to when I’ll be leveling 60-80. I’m sure I’ll want to make a guide for those levels if I can’t find a guide already out there. Leveling for levels 60-70 was improved. (I have to research the facts on that.) For 70-80 I’m reading here in the forums that there are a lot of collection quests and we have to grin and bear it so to speak. Right now there are guides out there for 70-80 and cost big bucks.

I’m sure they’re great guides. I’m sure each one will make a lot of easy money. I however will be using the free guides. There are so many on the web now it’s silly to pay for one. I’ll just pick one of these FREE guides (see below) for 70-80. I’ll follow it exclusively and have the TG recorder on. Then edit the thing and make a TG file. However I’m sure someone has done that already.

TourGuide has files for 1-70 and I’m sure 70 – 80 will be added soon.
In summery I think for levels 70-80, we will be doing most of the quest to get those “Achievements” (Nothing Boring About Borean) and the like. 60-70 was “improved” so we should be able to skip some of the collection quests in Outland.

I have zygors guide if ya want eeet.
Not very good in my opinion. Its a guide, but too much grinding.
I leveled faster just using questhelper lol.
Just started RAFing a 5 box (Paladin, 3 x Mage and Priest all Belfs) Haven't hade time to play much but made lvl 18 in 7 hours i think. Could have been faster as i have never levelled past 11 in the Belf starting area. And i haven't trained that many times. If i remember correctly i visited the trainers at 2, 6, 12 and 18 :)
About the guide all i can say is i love it. Let me rephrase that I LOVE IT! Questing is easy, fast and fun! Thank You so much for putting it together and for sharing it with us!
I'm planning on doing several parties to lvl 60 using this guide. Going to do some teams with 5 characters of the same kind. 5 hunters, 5 locks, 5 shadowpriests, 5 mages, 5 druids, 5 shamans comes to mind. Yep looks like i want it all. I'm also planning on making a team for pvp at 29. Maybe hunters or druids.
I'm also pondering if i should boost my main team once or twice in WC. Actually might have to do that to gear up my paladin a bit for the AoE tanking will do in the future. Boost him in WC for gear and then i can do SFK the proper way.

Elba;
I have Joana's guide and Kopp's guide from back when i was single boxing. The last team that i brought up, i just used tourguide and skipped the quests i didnt want to do. I wanted to see a different path through the levels and enjoyed the journey.
My second team was on the Borean on launch day and the collection quests seemed to go forever. Especially the quests at the fizzcrank airstrip. So far i have quested a bit and instanced a bit (then i moved to a new server with the free move). I will not be RAF'ing again. It was fun, but i would rather enjoy WOTLK than mess around with the old content. I have been using Jame's guide for ideas, but really havent been following it that closely.
Nah; just thinkin it might be fun to map out an optimum (or near optimum) path for multiboxers to take 60-70 and 70-80. Including doing quests that a single boxer couldnt do due to the difficulty.

I've got a psychological block (quit snickering).
I find myself bound and determined to finish the % completed files, though I'm ahead of the pace.
Over the weekend I got a few SM boost runs and then a ZF run (took an hour but over 2 levels). Last night a guildie's 77 ret pally just ATE ZF whole in under 30 minutes.
So now I'm right at the ding 44 point (1 has dinged, the others are a few % behind, badly timed deaths caused an 8% spread) and trying to decide where I want to go now. Have to break that psychological habit of continuing on the guide I have been, the quests are all green :)
The debate isn't just me dithering, I also lost out on some quests early in this team when I came into Bloodmyst having not done azuremyst quests, so I lost a few chains that way.
How far is ZF boosting really viable anyway, I never planned for it in the past so now I can get it I'm startled. Suppose once in the 50s my pally buddy can destroy strat or scholo.
My RAF ends the 10th, going to be down to the wire I think.
Call this a ramble, call it a bump, call it no more feedback for ELBA from me for a while, as boosting has kicked my pacing off track.

Really enjoyed the guide but also are now wondering how to tackle Outlands. Looked at the guides elba but nothing is really for us i feel due to the collection quests if you could do a tourguide to 70 it would be great.
The guide worked great..I've used it three times now..and my last set (2 shamans and a mage) hit 60 in 1 day 12 hours, and thats with no instancing with high levels. I find 20-30 takes the longest time, alot of running around..maybe alot of that had to do with the stupid water totem quest :) I appreciate the effort. 58-60 in like 30-40 minutes is nice :)
There are times, I pick up other quests as well. For example there is a nice chain in eversong woods that the guide doesn't do. All kill quests. I generally follow it to the T, but at times I change the order the quests are done to save me some running :) Overall, the guide and the RAF benefits are soooo addicting :)

Since RAf stops after lvl 60, ELBA might not want to spend the time since it would take a lot longer but you can use free ones or even paid guides or even use guide addons to help you threw those long grinding. :)
Guides:
Free - Jame's Guides ('http://www.wow-pro.com/')
Paid - Joana ('http://www.joanasworld.com/')(Horde), Brian Kopp ('http://www.briankopp.com/')(Alliance), Zygor ('http://www.zygorguides.com/')(Alliance&Horde), Team iDemise ('http://teamidemise.com/').
Addons:
Questhelper ('http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/quest-helper.aspx')
Tourguide ('http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info7674-TourGuide.html')
I would like to say thank you to all the people who have posted here and have sent me PM’s. Thanks; I really appreciate it. I want you all to know that I’m still looking to improve this guide. Please keep the feedback coming. I hope to update both Horde and Alliance until I am very happy with the way they play. Quoted from Vix “Questing is easy, fast and fun!” I want to make the whole guide that way and take out anything that can be improved.
I have thought about doing levels 60-70. However it would be some time before I could start that project. This is what I tell myself. This guide was 60 levels a 60-70 guide is only 10 levels. Should be easy right? Well I’m not on triple xp. So that’s 10 levels x3 so its like 30 levels (kinda) The outlands map is one choice for your level 2 at most. So I know what map to look at. I would think we be doing the least amount of collections quests and the few we have to do should be the easiest ones. Here is a level for each map.
58-63 Hellfire Peninsula
60-64 Zangarmarsh
62-65 Terokkar Forest
64-67 Nagrand
65-68 Blade's Edge Mountains
67-70 Netherstorm
67-70 Shadowmoon Valley
So I’m guessing 67-70 we would pick the best quests out of Shadowmoon Valley and Netherstorm. But as I recall there were some epic quest chains in those maps that went on and on. Shuting down all the mana forges comes to mind. Also some quests were Aldor / Scryer only in Shadowmoon Valley.
If you are leveling 60-70 please send me your notes. I’d use them when the time comes to make a 60-70 guide. I’d also take any TourGuide recorder files as well.
On a side note I thought about making a small guide (TourGuide file) on the “Achievements” [To All The Squirrels I've Loved Before]. It would be multi boxer friendly. It would be a fastest route to get to all those critters. Then a simple assist macro and emote macro. Then I thought, what other achievements could be done easy with TourGuide?
As always keep the feed back coming, good or bad, PM or post.
Thanks and enjoy!

A bit of an aside, but from what I gather, does this mean there is no limit to the originating RAF account in terms of receiving gifted levels?
IE, If account X referred new accounts A, B, C, D and they all hit 60, can account X now be gifted two level 60 toons? 60 levels earned x 4 accounts (ABCD) / 2 (gift a level for every two you earn) = 120 giftable levels = 2 60s right?
Also, the blizzard page made it sound like RAF benefits end the moment any character on the new accounts (ABCD) hits 60. Does this mean if I want to maximize my benefits across multiple sets of toons, I need to temporarily stop at 59?

I wanted to express thanks for this guide. The wife and I just moved from DAOC to WoW and are doing the RAF setup. After struggling with getting familiar with the game, I got my shamans up to 38 in about two months. After finding this guide, I rolled 5 hunters and they just hit 59 last night after about a week. 8|
So anyone doubting the guide, don't. It's very helpful and makes things very quick for those of us that aren't familiar with zones or quests in WoW yet.
The only thing I've had a problem with so far is horde 26-28. I was wayy behind at the end of it and I only skipped the group of level 25 elites and the rare harvester (because I couldn't find either of them). I made up for it though by doing one Blackfathom run.

I like the parts just some quests i passed, or passed a zone and did a different one.

For the alliance version, so far there is tons of unnecessary running when you could set an inn point and hearth or use a closer flight path, regardless thanks for supplying it. If I ever level as alliance again I'll consider changing huge portions of it though. I've also skipped a few of the elite quests and I'm still 1 level ahead of the guide

I sure hope this is true! 20-30 was just brutal on my current RAF attempt. My current tri-boxing RAF team (mage, warlock & priest) just all dinged 31 in about 19 hours /played. I've noticed several people dinging near 60 with UNDER 2 days played. I'll have to pick up the pace if I hope to achieve that same goal.

I really love this guide.
There are a few problems with it, mainly with coordinates being wrong and some times I don't catch the error and run to the wrong area. Other than that this guide was excellent.
My highest character I ever got in WoW was a 39 Hunter on a server with a datacenter on the opposite side of the country. With this guide I started on a new server with a datacenter <200 miles away from me so I could play with <50 ping. I made 2 Blood Elf Hunters and my /played time to 59 for a newb on a new server with no money or gear is: 1 Day 20 Hours. Just to give you an idea on how much this time could be improved, I used the blue bow you get from one of the quests in the Ghostlands all the way to level 50, as well as pretty much all the armor. Grey gloves until level 45? LOL
Thank you so much for the awesome guide!
To add to my other post I did this guide in 1 day and 24 hours about playing as rogue/druid alliance.
I went afk a fair amount and did not try to maximize my played times by logging out.
Since this was a brand new server for me I was still using level 5 daggers at level 58 (until I got outland ones) and I finally got my normal ground mount at level 50.
There are is a great many optimizations someone can make to the guide and I will probably toy around with tourguide recorder myself.

The gear comments in the two above posts seem to echo what Joana wrote in his leveling guide: gear simply doesn't matter for leveling. Sure, if matters if you're trying to clear BRD at 52, but to fly to level 58 using RAF guide, I think you can do it in grey gear, or naked for that matter. Blizz was very kind in that the first handful of quests in outland basically re-equip you with level 58 gear and you're all set. You can save a ton of money by only training a bare minimum of spells, don't waste mana buffing. Use level 1 toons in the major cities for 'friend' summons to cut down travel time. It's nice not to have to worry about logging out in an inn too.

Hi ELBA
quick question this guide of yours will it still be worth while if I dont have RAF setup. Basically I have 3 accounts already I have setup 3 mages just to test out macros and things. Now im ready to give it a test run with a lvling guide. But I found that collection/drop item quests are very time consuming as I have not found a way to be able to loot corpses with all my toons. So ofc when I saw your link about you skipping those quests I downloaded all the bits and put them on but failed at first to see the RAF thing. Any help will be appreciated
('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=User&userID=7555')
It's useless without RAF, because the quests will quickly outlevel you.
BTW, the worst by far is 25-27 in the Barrens, I can't stand all these "find rare spawn" or killing those elite Ally's. Great guide though!

ok so it will not work unless you are setup for RAF so heres the next thing if I wanted to set up raf how do I do it exacly with so many toons/accounts? Will I have my main account and make up bogus email accounts invite them all from my main account then get them started like that? or can I just invite one. I want to 5 box thats my goal and I want to do it from scratch. I have Keyclone and I have already gotten 3 mages to work so another 2 cant be hard :) and to what lvl does the raf xp thing work too?

Thanks for the guide it's great :D I'm not doing it really quickly because I was too high a level for a fair while :(
Two tips:
You might as well get A Noble Brew while getting skills in Stormwind at level 30 you visit the two locations almost straight away(Stalvan's Hut, and the Stonewrought Dam)
http://www.wowwiki.com/Quest:A_Noble_Brew_(1)
I gained the same amount for that(~7K) as I did for the other large quests I was doing at the same time
On your way back to Southshore to hand in The Ensorcelled Parchment after killing the Dark Council, you're loads better off going to Chillwind Camp in the Western Plaguelands as it gets you a Griffon point, and is loads quicker than Riding back to Southshore.

A few comments about the Alliance Tourguide. First I'd like to say thanks again for taking the time to create the guides and sharing them with the community. Now that I've used both the Alliance and Horde guides, I can say that they both do the job but the Horde guide is much more polished. While using the Alliance guide, I would somehow fall behind the leveling steps. Like I would be 49 and 3/4 and the guide says I should ding 50. I also feel that Hinterlands should be sooner in the guide. That place is just amazing for multiboxers but as I turned in some quests, I lost some XP because my level was a tad high for the area.
All in all though, these are excellent guides. After doing the Alliance version I'm a little tempted to submit an updated version but I need to get one of my groups to 80 first! 8|

Moar starters zones!
I passed whole 1-20 because i was a tauren :P
I like the parts just some quests i passed, or passed a zone and did a different one.
-Totemic
you missed the part where it says : make a l1 blood elf and summon your team to ghostlands ?Sorry i'm a little confused by this please bear with me.
I've got a belf and 4 trolls, all lvl 1. Someone mentioned that you can't do quests in other starter zones until you're lvl 5. Does this mean i need to lvl my trolls to 5 then use the belf to summon and go from there?
Or can i summon them at lvl1, group them and have the belf do the quests so they all lvl with the RAF xp bonus?
I just thought that to get the RAF bonus you had to be within 5 lvls?

Hmm...am I doing something wrong here?! As noted below, I'm tri-boxing a Warlock, Mage and Priest using this amazing RAF guide. Both the Priest and Mage are linked (account wise) to the Warlock. Save for the Warlock Voidwalker quest, I've stuck to this guide exclusively. In addition, I think I've done a pretty good job of "maximizing" my Primary's character's (Warlock) /played time by avoiding AFK time, etc. Somehow, I'm still only at level 44 with 1 day, 20 hours /played?! Anyone else finding it a much longer trek than advertised on this thread?! Based on what I can figure with my avg xp/hr rate at 60k, it'll still take me another day and a half to get these toons up to 60?! Does the XP ramp up CONSIDERABLY between 50 - 60 or am I just REALLY slow. :(
I've been using this guide on my first attempt at 5 boxing and its been going great. I have a few lvl 70s already and a lvl 80 so i know most of the areas. There are a few spots where the guides coordinates are off but other than that its been a great guide. Currently my team is at lvl 38. There was alot of running around that sucked but it got better at 30 once i got mounts for all 5 characters. Oh and when you see the <ZZZ Visit Inn> on tour guide, it means set your hearth to that inn, i didnt catch that at first and had a little extra running to do. Looking forward to doing 40-50 in less than an hour as others have mentioned!! I actually out leveled a couple of the zone guides, but i was doing the shaman totem quests and paladin quests as they came available. And yes, finding the Rares in barrens does suck, never did see that dam red wind serpent thing...
As for the summoning, accounts that are RAF linked can summon each other once per hour, just right click the party members portrait and you will see "summon friend". Or if your summon is on CD you can create a new toon and use it to summon if needed.
And yes you have to have BC to be able to go to the BE starting lands.
Thanks for the great guide ELBA!

Huh?! That can't really be possible, can it? Maybe if they're being boosted...right now, 40-50 is going to take me about 10 hours or so?!
^ I've read it on a couple threads that 40-50 can be done in about an hour. To me that sounds too good to be true but we shall see. I just hit 40 with my 5box team this morning and got them all trained up and bought a few new peices of gear. I'll start the 40+ guide later after work and see how it goes.

After reaching 50 over the weekend, I just don't see how it's possible to go from 40-50 without boosting. My number was just under 8 hours from 40-50 using this RAF guide with my current tri-boxing team. I'm currently doing the Hinterlands set of quests and should be dinging 53 after I turn-in the 14 quests for what I figure to be over 325k worth of experience. By the way, I'm lagging just a bit behind the intended levels because I skipped most of the chicken quests...just didn't want to be bothered with grinding mobs looking for the drop.

can you clarify something for me, when you have the escort quest and it says "turn off multiboxer" what exactly does this mean?
Multiboxer is an addon, if your using it you need to turn it off so all your toons can accept the escort quest. If your not using it, then just ignore the message.

I wonder if that does the same thing with jamba?
I've had one other of these and I had it open on all my slaves plus my main and when i accepted all slaves accepted too (standard behaviour), however when I handed it in I'm pretty sure only the main got the completion.
So I guess the solution is for all toons to accept the quest manually? Or turn jamba off, accept the quest on all then turn it back on?

Been using this guide for a few days with my multiboxing group (RAF). I would like to thankyou for all the hard work placed into this guide.
i do have one question though. I am using the alliance version and i am in bloodmyst isle, I might have read wrong but i thought that no collection quests were used (unless 100% drop rate or single item) However i have done a few collection quests following your guide in tour guide. ( yes i have deleted the old files) i am curretntly doing the irradiated quest and they are not 100% drop rate. as you can imagine with 4 chars this is time consuming.
so i guess i would like to ask is the alliance guide full of these as opposed to the horde version or will it get faster at a higher level?
my group is lvl 15 and /played is 18 hours.. no where near what everyone plays and i play atleast 6 hours per day.
Apart from that i think the effort and time you placed into this guide is ACE and i am grateful that i didn't have to make the guide
myself :-)
I await your favourable reply ^^

Question about the addons: do I NEED lightheaded and tomtom, or is only TourGuide (+files) necessary? I currently have questhelper.
I got lvl 19 NE druid + priest, currently in darkshore, and loving RAF :) Where can I best pick up the tourguide?
parallax
01-20-2009, 12:13 PM
@Rufio: just Google it.. "tourguide warcraft" and it's the first site I think. Then you have to manually download the files at the BEGINNING of this thread (page 1) and put them in the TourGuide addon folder.. the folder is TourGuide_Alliance or TourGuide_Horde depending on your faction.
As for LightHeaded and TomTom.. with apologies to the creator of the guide, it is not 100% polished: there have been several times where I have resorted to using LightHeaded's WoWhead feature to getting the correct coords.. so I strongly recommend getting LightHeaded. I also recommend getting TomTom, because the TomTom "crazy taxi" quest arrow seems to be less buggy, and because it also puts the current quest coordinates on your map.
General comments on the guide: great guide, started using it friday with my brand new 2x warlock team and I am lv31 in around 22/23 hours /played. That seems to be slower than some of the other times being mentioned in the thread, but in terms of my previous leveling experience with a solo char, its blazing fast thanks to 300% RAF EXP and this guide.
As I said earlier, there have been times where the coords are incorrect.. and since I'm familiar with many of the zone quests, I've done a few that are not in the guide and perhaps should be. LightHeaded usually takes care of the problems with the coords, though. On average a very handy guide to follow, I'm quite satisfied with the speed at which I'm leveling up.
Thanks for this fantastic guide! You made me wanna try out RAF:) But I have a question, are you supposed to accept and complete the quests with both your veteran character and your "slave" character or just one of them? Cause looting quest items with both characters is kinda annoying:D
Thanks in advance!

Well, I finally made it to 60. 2 days, 20 hours, 12 minutes and 6 seconds was my final /played time. Not too shabby...but by no means a record. However, as all have mentioned, it sure beats leveling up the "old" way. And the best part is granting all of those levels to alts! Nothing like going from 1 - 60 in just a few mouse clicks!
As I mentioned above, I skipped the chicken quests and came up a bit short on my grind to level 58 before I could head over to Outlands. So I ran over to Western Plaguelands and ran a couple kill quests there (Demon Dogs alone got me over 58!).
Also, be sure and grant that 60th level to your main ONLY after they're at 99% EXP at level 59. Since the grant levels does not reset the experience back to zero, you can technically get your main to 61 with one kill after granting them to level 60. You'll have to keep your eye out on that experience bar, since even simple zone discoveries can cause you to ding to 60! Do it right and you save yourself a 280k XP grind back at non-RAF speeds!
Good luck to the rest of you!
Now, onto 70 and beyond!!

If you think that's annoying, then multiboxing is not for you.
You have to do on one character what you do on all characters. That applies to whether you are playing 2 or 20.
Good luck, and welcome to the forums.

HI, I have just started with the RAF guide for horde and I just have a question that im a little confused over.
I running a tri-box (1 main Priest and 2 Mages), I wanted to play undead but as the guide starts in Durotar I thought Ok pick troll, started off ok, then the last past of the Durotar guide is to create a BE and summon group to eversong woods....
Now suddenly im thinking.... HOW? I only have 3 accounts so I cant do the summon and how do I even do a summon to a different area with a BE anyway? Read about the refer-a-friend program and noticed the friend summoning... but that still doesnt help me... ARRRGHHH!.
I suppose I need to know when you guys multibox with this guide did you create all of your toons from the start or did you leave room for the summon? Do you guys just use classic accounts for your slaves or do you all play TBC and Wotlk enabled accounts?
Other than that how do I get from Durotar to Eversong? im assuming I can go to org, get the airship to UC and then teleport to Silvermoon and then walk from there?, but then as I have typed this last line im not going to be able to get to Eversong as I dont have TBC for my slave accounts... Ahhh... Actually edit that last night, Im running 3 copies of WoW with TBC and WotLK installed but I am only on 10-day classic accounts with only classic client bought for the 2 slave accounts.

Any ideas?

Hi, I've started using this guide yesterday and its looking very well made so far.
I have a question tho. In the passed I've only been using questhelper and thats still working as intended. But questhelper is the only thing thats showing icons on my map. I am guessing/hoping that with TourGuide, LightHeaded and TomTom installed it would also show the questgivers that start a quest. If so how can I make it show the location of the NPC that starts the quest thats listed in TourGuide as the next quest to go to?
If there is no such option its my bad ?(
Edit: Doh, just got home from work and I see that I extracted TomTom to the wrong directory. All is working as I had hoped it would.

I used the alliance side one from 40-60. This is my first run as Alliance, I know the Hoard very well. It was fairly nice. There were a handful of mistakes but nothing major. I was disappointed that at level 58 it said to go to outlands. My RAF accounts were just vanilla wow. However it only took an extra quest in WP, 4 quests in Burning Steppes, and 4 quests in Winterspring to ding 60.
Ive considered writing my own for the hoard side but meh..

Found an error in the alliance side tourguide.
Tourguide: Cannot find zone "Duskwood,", using current zone. This appears after you fly to Westfall from Darkshire, on the way to finish the Stalvan quest line. It then places the waypoint marker way off in the ocean, in Westfall, I suspect because "Duskwood," was read instead of "Duskwood" (without the comma) and it put the coords that should have been in Duskwood, in Westfall instead.
Great guide, btw. Really enjoying it.

I find 20-30 takes the longest time, alot of running around... I appreciate the effort. 58-60 in like 30-40 minutes is nice :)
All-in-all, however, this guide is excellent. Thanks ELBA for putting this together!
20-30 is the most brutal and time intensive. 50-54 is really nice and quick. At 54.9 and just starting on the 54-58 guide. I hope that works as well as the previous!

Don't want to be mean, but I downloaded the guides and laughed.
Talk about painfully lacking. No coordinates for many quests.. no hints, nothing. In other words, either know the quests before hand or go home. I guess being used to a professional guide makes all other guides look really lack luster. The link to WOWHEAD the QH gives is pointless as most the time all it knows is where the quest starts and ends which 99% of the time isn't where the quest task is, just the giver.

Don't want to be mean? That's exactly the point of your post. You offer nothing to help others......just bitching about the guide.
If you follow the instructions, it does have all the coordinates mapped out, and even marks your map with the locations. So if you open your map.........mouse to the point.........holy crap.....it gives you the coordinates!
After doing it as many times as I have........I'm quite sure it's not "lacking". If you find it hard to follow, then maybe you're just......slow. Give the OP a break. This was posted to help, not for you to give him a hard time about.
Some people have nothing better to do than complain about others trying to HELP you.
And my wife and I just started WoW 4 months ago, so I was not up on quest givers, locations, etc. I was a noob and was able to get the guide worked through just fine.

Why don't you just ask someone to power level your characters since it takes so much brainpower to do these quests

So I'm currently level 44 and I'm at the point where I have to farm mobs to try and loot the distress beacon for the Feralas chicken escort quest. This part of the guide seems to be a very stark contrast between the rest of what I've done so far.
I've been farming for the random drop for around a half hour now. I understand the XP reward for the chicken quest is pretty nice, but it seems like the grinding time could have been easily used getting other quests done.

Yeah it really depends on what level you are, because sometimes you can skip that quest, but if you're kind of behind, it can set you behind pretty far if you skip it. The last toons I'm leveling just skipped it and as a result, I'm 1 full level behind at level 43. Had I don't the chicken quest near Camp Mojache, it would have kept me pretty close. Now I have to go grind out some XP as a result. I have always been able to find the beacon, except for the first one near Camp Mojache. In all the toons I've leveled with this guide, it has never dropped once for me. ?(

How ridiculous - "I know alliance inside out, I've levelled so many characters, I used professional guides therefore this guide is worthless to everyone".
Seriously - why did you even bother to download the thing, other than to pour scorn on the effort of others.
It sure looks like you went out of your way to belittle someone elses work.
Did you even bother reading the thread from all the people that have actually benefitted from it.
I'm sure if you went back and read some books that you read as a five year old you might find they are beneath you now, but they were a good solid foundation for what you know now.
You are just a bit further ahead of the learning curve is all.

It's made questing past level 40 much easier since it now feels like I'm doing more "go find and kill this named mob" kinds of quests.

First off; thanks for taking the time to help out!
I just began multiboxing(5s) again tonight after having a long break from my last and first time.
My characters are only lvl8 at this point after having finished the 1-5 Durotar quests, now my question before I go on is; is it correct that 5-12 is in Eversong Woods? And then Ashenvale (I think it was, after ghost place) and THEN barrens at 25 or something?
I'm just a little confused seeing as how that is _a lot_ of running around and seemingly a slow way to go about it?
Granted I've never used RaF before nor have I leveled an entire multiboxing team before (my first time I only got to lvl15 before quitting due to lack of beast computer etc), but I have leveled a lot of characters to 60+ (mainly 1-60 pre-TBC though, so sure a lot has changed) and yeah.. never went with that approach.
Just wanted to make sure before I go on, so as not to waste my time seeing as how there are more resources out there for leveling quick.

using the Tour Guide RAF MB addon is as fast as any method. You can boost your toons, using a high level to run your team in dungeons. Most people find they can level a team to 60 in 2 days played just using the TG method.

Hi!
I was wondering... I have two accounts now. I have a paid and a trial. The trial got linked as a friend, cause I thought RAF had to have the friend linked to give levels to the trial...
So... would it be possible to use RAF if I canceled my main, and had the trial invite my main back, and then use the higher level charas to give levels to the one on the trial account?
alcattle

Not sure what you mean as a trial account but you can RAF 5 people from your main. If you want to RAF dual box, just send yourself the invite using the same info as your main. I had the same idea at first so some of the "frozen" accounts have different names and emails, last 4 I made same as main and worked great.

I didn't read through this whole thing yet, but I like what I see so far. I have been 5-box boosting instances with an 80 for the most part and might try the non-instance quests a bit for a nice change of pace. If you want a decent instance grind 5-box, try a WoWHead thread I made back in January and let me know what you guys think:
5-box Recruit A Friend leveling 4 toons with a 70+ (quests to get) ('http://www.wowhead.com/?forums&topic=68405&p=723614')
As I am reading through more of this thread, I see that ELBA was trying avoid the kind of writeup I did (like I said above, I have a 70+ boosting) so I thought a "compromise" of sorts would work:
If you are 2 or 3 or maybe even 4-boxing the instances would be nearly impossible without outside assistance. But if you have *at least* 4 and you waited until the quest(s) inside each instance was on the lower end of yellow or green it would be very do-able. If you have a decent grasp on how to handle all 4/5 of your characters, you could fly in and do all of the quests with ease if you waited for the right level.
Just as a guess, here's a listing of when you might try the quests I listed (I just went to each quest and looked at what level the quest turns yellow):
RFC:
~14 for Searching for the Lost Satchel
~14 for Slaying the Beast
~14 for The Power to Destroy...
SM:
~36 for Compendium of the Fallen
It would go against my guide a bit, since I always move to ZF at 40 since I'm boosting, but...
~40 for Into The Scarlet Monastery
ZF:
~43 for Scarab Shells
~45 for Divino-matic Rod
~48 for Gahz'rilla
LBRS:
~57 for The Pack Mistress
~57 for Operative Bijou (and all the followups)
~58 for Mother's Milk
~58 for Urok Doomhowl
After doing the above, I am now even thinking of checking into the instances I normally don't bother with while boosting and adding them in here. If I decide to just level 5 at once instead of boosting I'll try it out and see what comes of it!
EDIT: I want to add that I was slow (*am* slow really) at the 5-boxing for a while, but now that I have gotten myself a little more polished at it, I can get 4 toons to 60 boosting with my Mage in about 1 day 6 hours, and probably less. I have a BAD habit of looting when I shouldn't bother, so I could likely get 4 to 60 with barely more than, or less than, a day played.
P.S. Sorry for the many edits. I do that a lot when I type something and don't read it through well before hitting [Submit] 8|!

Then you each start a new character and go to town leveling insanely fast!
Remember all the small things though:

I've noticed a few errors in it, but I wouldn't say it's off like a mofo.
I just started using it for a pair of horde shammies and noticed that it says to pick up two quests in Senjin Village (Mishima's Skull and Zalazane), but never to actually go and do them. It also says to "grind up to level 5" at one point, but I was already level 8 by then.
One key thing it doesn't include is class-specific quests. Shaman take note! I'd gone all the way to Eversong and started questing there before realizing I'd forgotten to get my earth totem. No biggie though, since I'm now at level 11 and need the fire one as well. I've gone back to Durotar and The Barrens to take care of those before heading back to Eversong to keep on with the guide.
I'm finding the guide wonderfully useful and wish I'd started using it sooner on my other pairs (2 ally, I horde). I'll be using it for any RAF stuff from here on out.

Then you're doing something wrong.
I followed the guide with all of my teams and had no gray quests along the way.
The level 1-5 guide is a bit bloated, but you follow the level ranges, not the actual quests.
Obviously the point is to get the levels, not all the quests. So if the guide says 1-5, then level to 5 and move to the next guide.

No one can answer that question. RAF lasts 90 DAYS, you can level a team to 60 in 3-4 days played. How much time do you play? When you get to 60, you have 29 levels to gift another set. (note: do not gift levels 1-30, do it 31-60. Alot more exp for your money).
As for the guide, there are a few things wrong, I do missed the Earth Totem quest. He states somewhere the Horde guide was not as polished as the Ally one. I am still working with it, I do am not a horde veteran, still better than running around clueless. I find it you follow the guide, and the quest goes grey, delete it. But there are times you follow 3 guides before you do a quest.

I can also confirm that the collection quests still in the guide are there because they have reasonably high drop rates and/or low collection requirements. For example, the moongraze tenderloin drops very regularly (at least it did for me) and on the Horde side (in Thousand Needles) the guide includes a collection quest for some special dirt that appears to drop at 100% off Thundering Boulderkin, and you only have to pickup 2 per character. All in all, very reasonable given that there are so many collection quests aimed at the "typical" solo-levelling in WoW that just become a pain for us multiboxers. Sadly, there seems to be no solution to the collection questing in WotLK...

so using this method of 4 accounts via RAF and 1 vet ho wmany 60's do u get out of it 4 or 2?If you mean you start a level 1 on the vet account, and then level four other level 1's along with it, and ONLY level the 5 toons - you will end up with a total of *at least* seven level 60s:
Vet account + four others all level to 60 = five toons.
Then, if you log onto the vet account, make a level one, and grant it levels, you will use two of the other accounts and grant 30 levels from each.
Repeat it with the two other accounts and now you have a total of seven level 60s.
But...if you do it the smart way, you can have a plethora of toons. Here is where it can get very confusing:
Since it's very very fast to go to level 30...
1. Level the five toons to 60 like you would normally, and then
2. Create 5 more and level to 30 with them, then
3. Repeat and make 5 more level 30s.
4. Again, get 5 more to 30, and ... wait for it ...
5. Make 5 more!
This way you can log on the four other accounts and grant 30 levels from EACH of the newly made 60s to the FOUR you have on the vet account.
Like others have said, when you level the four guys on the vet account to 30, make it to 30.99999, that way when you grant levels they end up at 60.99999. When you go to level them it's one kill and BAM your 61 in one kill!
P.S. You don't HAVE to make a level 30 on the other accounts if you don't want to, only on the vet account, but it's going to be much faster with the 5-person bonus and the RaF triple XP.

did you download quest helper too? I had the locations for the quest where to go and where to turn it in at and locations of mobs/items. Did you install everything correctly?Questhelper doesn't lend itself very nicely to TourGuide. It's bloaty waymarks covers
anything under them, and it tells you to do quests in a different order, not to mention
it takes every single quest in your quest log and puts it on the map, something that you
might not want. Unless there's some clever way of configuring Questhelper to follow the
TourGuide order of doing quests, it's just not cutting it.
The guide itself is nice though. Just missing some co-ords.

I love the program and the MB files. Wondering why Tour Guide will complete quests without me turning them in. Is it another program giving bad info or do I have it set wrong somewhere. ;(

I'm not the fastest leveler ever but with RAF, and these addons its goes by fast. Level 9-10 doing quests, 10-12 handing in. Thanks so much!

The addon works perfect.
I have leveled an Alliance Warrior and a Priest to 60 PRE BC using Jame's PAPER guides, and to 70 after, using Jame's too.
I have leveled an Horde Warlock to 70 post BC using QuestHelper, leveled an Alliance Shaman and a DK to 80 post WOTLK using Zygor.
Yes, they are GREAT guides/addons, but, WHEN YOU KNOW the game, TourGuide is all you need (well, TourGuide + Carbonite will be the perfect and ultimate guide/addon to level).
Just forget about Lightheaded, you only need Carbonite... If TourGuide says "Do XXX quest" just click with your mouse on the Carbonite Quest Track thing and you have your arrow point set (or in your map/minimap if you prefer).
About the OXX quests... normally you will get your OXX items just doing the quests in the zone (I take 2 of 3 tonight without ANY grinding to find them).

Yeah, I have been using this guide for my RAFing adventure, but I'm finding it to be disappointing at the beginning of the Horde guide. Just like others are saying, we didn't buy TBC for our RAF account so we can't just summon ourselves to the Blood Elf starting area. Last night I had to stop in my tracks because I got to level 7 on both chars in Mulgore and then couldn't proceed. SO now what do I do? I'm sort of stuck at level 7, and I just want to get these guys to level 30. But I enjoy using the TourGuide because when I just go gather quests and use Quest Helper I waste huge amounts of time. Right now I"ve got two level 45s at almost 2 days played, and it should have been faster than that. Anyway, if someone can post an easy way to get past the TBC part of the guide, where should go at this point sort of thing, it would be very helpful.

alliance too could use non-TBC starting areas to avoid having to buy TBC for RAF accounts. Right now it expects you to go to azuremyst isle and bloodmyst isle from levels 5-23...couldn't we do that in old azeroth somewhere?

You can try the standard Tour-Guide files for that part of leveling, skipping the ugly colection quests. I want to work on some of the Tour files, RAF would be nice.

I appreciate the effort that must have gone into this guide.
The only thing I kind of dislike about it is that I'm up to level 30 now using it and I've been consistently doing quests aimed at people who are about 5 levels lower than me.
I mean, I can understand the concept of trying to play it safe, but shouldn't you still be doing mostly orange quests for the xp and not quests that are barely still doable for triple xp.
Everyone thinking about using this guide will be packing 2-5 times the dps of a normal character and is likely a very good player anyways.. the guide to me seems a bit easy and in a round about way timewasting.

From the link:
"You get full experience for everything but gray quests. Gray means that you'll get less experience for every level that the quest has been gray. The amount of experience you get for completing a quest will drop as you get to higher levels. This prevents people from going back and doing a bunch of super easy quests with high level characters"

this is with A LOT of AFK time (I have a 10 months old baby that wake's up 2 or 3 times between 22:30 and 01:00 -my play time-... baby wake up = wipe xD).
I started using this guide at level 40 aprox. AND have been loosing too much time with stupid quests (like the collection one from Shimmering Flats that you have to kill murlocs on STV that take a lot of time and that I never turned :P).
Leveled a Warlock and a Druid in the same computer with PiP (Autohotkey+Jamba+Tourguide+Carbonite).
Today I will start my new pair: Mage+Priest until lvl 35 when I will switch the Mage for a Hunter that I have sitting at level 35.
For the first 23 levels I'm using just Zygor guide (yeah, with only 2 chars+PiP+"Interact with target"+"click to move") is VERY easy to do this part.
On a final note I have to say that I skiped the 51-52 Searing Gorge chapter of this guide and it was just fine... Becasue it was toooo many time consuming going from Tanaris to Searing Gorge without a char to do the summoning (it was on CD in the only char that could go to Searing Gorge at that moment) .
I have to say that I never went to Wetlands nor Hillsbrad nor Arathi nor Hellfire...
Only: Northshire, Westfall, Redridge, Duskwood, STV north, Dustwallow, STV south, Feralas, Tanaris, Searing Gorge and Western Plaguelands, that was all.
And PLEASE... you have to put the 5 quests from The lost pages of Stranglethorn in the guide!!! each page costs between 50 silver and 1 gold (between 8 and 15g for each toon) and there is a bunch of XP doing this quests, about 40% of level 30.

I gave tour guide a try last night with a new brand RAF linked toons, a Mage and Paladin. I level 8 real quick but then the guide was a bit lacking. Are there data files for the 10-20 range for Alliance? I am at lvl 10 now and just questing around Sentinel Hill killing defias, not sure if that is the best approach.
FYI - I used carbonite as well.

Well, I just hit level 60. Was a bumpy ride taking 5 horde shamans through but I came out with 2 days and 15 hours of played time. I did this on a fresh server with no alts, these were my highest levels until I ran the DKs real quick. This lead me to having to pick up and auction everything I could get my hands on. Thank god I did shamans as they had ghost wolf form.. I still have no mounts for all of them and I was too poor to be able to buy all of their skills. Granted I have a guild with a bank tab and probably 100g sitting around. But with how expensive the skills were I saved it for other group runs.. Warlocks up next! Oh, this was my first attempt at serious multiboxing (I had a group on another server I got to level 10 ish or so when I was seeing if I wanted to do this or not :))
Good guides horde side, a few gathering quests I think I will skip next time around though, even if they are just picking up stuff off the ground.. its still bothersome to pick up 100 of em! :D

Nice guide. Thanks for all the time you put into it. New to multi boxing and I got my first set (only a pair for now) ever from 1-60 in /played 2days 3 hours and skipped an entire guide and barely did any quest in EPL , I went to Outlands and made it from 58-60 in less then an hour. Palys for the win.
Oh and I saw it asked but never saw an answer. Can Carbonite be used in replace of Quest helper?
XLMEG
07-23-2009, 05:17 AM
Can Carbonite be used in replace of Quest helper?Yes, absolutely. I have done it with a pair of toons, and I'm doing it again with other two chars.
Is as easy as... when TourGuide tells you to do X quest, you simpli clic on that quest on the quest track of Carbonite, and instantly you have your arrow showing the way, your minimap showing the path and the minimap showing the EXACT ZONE where mobs/things are. I've leveled with both QuestHelper and Carbonite and I think that Carbonite is FAR superior to QuestHelper. Maybe the original idea of using QuestHelper was from when Carbonite was an addon that you have to PAY for use it, but now that is Free....
About the lack of a 1-23 guide for those of us that do not have the xpac I have to say that yesterday, only using Carbonite and picking up EVERY quest in the starting zone (human) I leveled TWO characters (yes, with more toons it is a different thing), from 1 to 10 in just 2 hours (and to level 12'5 in 2 hours and 40 minutes). The bad part is for those of you with 5 toons when you go to Redridge Mountains...there are too many gathering quests :(

An excellent guide!
I have a quest suggestion to add for the Alliance side for future versions (if you're planning any). When you turn in the Thadius Grimshade quest in Nethergarde, pick up the Fallen Hero quest from the Blood Elf NPC in the same room. You turn the quest in at the Fallen Hero of the Horde NPC who is at the border of Blasted Lands and Swamp of Sorrows, only about a 30 sec run, and you get 19K XP, plus another 2700 or so for the follow up which is just clicking through some dialogue.

I too was wondering if this guide were still relevant - I'm guessing, since people are hosting it for use, that they're using it as well, or have, so it should be, but I wouldn't mind a definitive answer.
Edit - It seems the horde guide at least is incomplete - the Mulgore starting area doesn't exist - and it's not really useable by tauren characters until levels 26 and up, I think, when the guide goes to barrens...

The guide still works well for leveling RAF toons.
I noticed the missing file(s?). On his blog, he admits the Horde section is not as complete as the allianance part. You could use the normal files for the missing parts, but it would be nice if the RAF update were complete.

Heya,
Been using this guide a bit lately on Horde Side, and it is, for the most part, really good.
Unfortunately whoever wrote/recorded the guide is very attached to the OOX quest, and they've been driving me crazy when I've come to them. Also, those sort of escort quests are not easy for a pair of single target focused mages - we're too flimsy to take the punishment when the mutiple adds spawn, particularly if we already have multiple mobs aggroed on us anyway.
Not sure what I'm going to do in the future, as otherwise the guide is very nice and very efficent.

I am still in the process of updating files. I did not know how much was involved to check the quests, much less make new files.
goals
1. make leveling match the area. i.e. level 5 in starting area, then level 12 in rest of first area. Right now it is almost double that and I am killing grey mobs to finish.
2. Add more of the other areas, like Silverpine so you can level without BC. The barrens is a hell hole to level in but what choice is there for some?
3. I will also look on the Alliance side, to cut the fat there.
