Heroic Cataclysm dungeons difficulty

I know its old content but still wanted to know. Yesterday my team of Prot War, 3xMM Hunter, Disc Priest reached 85. They are more or less enchanted, glyphed correctly and with working DPS rotation (for now). And I am having a lot of problems in Heroic dungeons. Basically any of them. First I did a random heroic, which resulted with Zul Gurub. I had my doubts if I could do this cause my gear on all my toons are Mostly Heirlooms (till 90) and the slots without heirlooms are equipped with more or less adequate gear. (Bad luck on drops) Average item level is around 333-340. If I recall heroic dungeons dropped 345 gear but I don't remember.

The issue I am having is... well my DPS went down by half compared to normal dungeon. The damage I receive is beyond ridiculous. The jump was huge, and at first I thought it was my gear and the instance itself (troll heroics being harder than others), so I tried Vortex pinnacle heroic. Trash hitted for less but things died slowly. This was clear to me when I fought the first boss. Simply put, dps was horrendously low. My hunters who were doing around 4-5k (and I believe this is low too?) on normal were only doing 1.9-2k. Same boss, just different difficulty.

Now obviously I am not asking things to be easy. I do welcome the challenge. But the 10 tries I did on the very first boss, with every member buffed, flasked (potted, MoP potions. one of my hunter is an alchemist) and with food buff, the closest I could get was about 10%. Previously with my Cata Team which consisted of Prot Pld, 2xArcane mage, Ele Shm and Disc Priest could pull off with I Justice gear (forgot item level) without any issue. Skill wise the hunters has nothing new in the past 2-3 levels. Could it be the composition issue? The famous Number crunch thing they implemented in WoD? item level? I will try again tonight with best possible enchants and some MoP gear on non heirloom slots, but it did surprise me the difficulty jump I had from normal to heroic. I never expected my dps to be halved from what I did in Normal.

DPS rotation is a modified version of what Mercurio has provided in the Macro Thread. But I have my cooldowns on a different key. Used mostly on Bosses or heavy packs of trash.

Reason why I wanted to do these heroics is well... I am sort of a completionist. Just wanted to finish the content with adequate level before moving on. But if things get grim I will come back after gaining some levels.

Replying since the original post is just long as hell. I have checked all my gear and yes hunters has pretty bad gear appart from their heirlooms. There weren't many upgrades for them unfortunately and leveling speed was so insane by just doing dungeons some items were left behind like 200 item levels. Which is bad.

I have re-run normal mode just to see if the drop of DPS was real and no it was simply the hp of each boss were close to 5times more than normal mode. Hunters on each boss they are doing around 2.5-3k dps which in my opinion a bit too low for my taste and no wonder on a 2million hp boss it takes forever. So solution would be gearing or simply level up 1 more and try again now that getting justice gear / valor gear is not an option like back in the day.

EDIT: Ok now this is starting to get ridiculous. I have ran 2 first MoP dungeons and leveled up. Went back to heroic cata dungeons and... boss hp shrunk from 2million to 560k. And my DPS are doing back to what they are suppose to do. 5k dps. In any case problem solved I guess...

Interesting that the cata heroics are still that hard, even with the best, team combo in the game.
