At what point are you rerolling your resto shaman?

With 4 or 5 totem of wrath you'll realize you don't really need to spec resto as your "elemental-spec-heals" on one of your guys will be enough with so much crit. It does help to off-gear them with healing gear though, but you should never need to spec resto. The extra DPS helps during the initial pulls in bosses and trash.

For 5 shamans I don't think it really helps at all to spec resto on any of them. Honestly with 5 shamans its easier to let EEs tank and just use random shamans to heal them or try to outdps something before you need healing.

MAYBE in heroics it would become useful but until you start doing heroics theres absolutely no need to spec resto on a shaman.

Yeah if you're going to go ZOMG DPS you have to go ZOMG! DPS. When you introduce a tank you then obligate yourself to a traditional playstyle and need to pull in the resto. Can you do without? Sure, but it's decidedly more difficult. I was early 60's when I made the switch and my instance stress level dropped considerably on bosses. And for clearing trash the resto can do noticeable dmg to help move through quickly.

Although I speak in statements the reality is these are my opinions.

1) Pick a Shaman that will eventually become Resto.
2) Give all "healing" gear to this character, so you can stockpile it (use outfitter to build gear sets IMO).

When you find that you need more heals, put the "quasi-resto" Shaman in healing gear and try again. If that doesn't work, go respec.

And on this note - this speaks volumes of how awesome the "spellpower buff" will be in 3.0.2. Theoretically now we wont really have to have 2 sets - every shaman will already have more +healing than we have right now because our existing spellpower will also give something like 50% more healing - this will make chain heal x5 GODLY and having 1 shaman on heal duty during a boss fight will be super easy.

The problem I have right now is not how much I heal for but how fast I run out of mana. So simplicity sake I just spam down ranked lesser healing waves. Needless to say I am OOM after 30-40 seconds.

Im wondering if this is necessary as well. I run 1 pally/4shammy group and have recently hit 70. Ive run a bunch of the instances already and have had very little trouble. I imagine heroics may be a different story thought I havent tried any yet. I never pull agro from my pally and have a key for all 4 alts to lesser healing wave the pally. I just stop dps and heal when necessary. 1 heal will almost fill the pally completly nearly every time no matter how low his health is.

Its not needed at all, i have done every heroic out there, without a resto shaman.
In fact, I believe that loss of elemental would make them harder, I'm geared to the point now that I can usually kill a boss with zero to maybe 1 heals on me(of course not all bosses, but some).

Your tank is in heavy raid gear. You are severely outgearing Heroics. Your group formula is not going to work for most people here. Please don't misslead other was these kinds of posts.

Except i dinged 70 on 3 shamans and pally 4 weeks ago, and started doing heroic with pally having 11.7k hp and 487 defense, shamans had less then 400 spl damage. Started with sp/bot/mana tombs/ub, and did them just fine, i also opted in for every kara my guild did, and some pug gruul/mag, getting badges and gearing them up.
I was getting on average 12 badges a day, while my pally is raid geared right now, in my guild to run alt bt/hyjal you need gear, without at least all badge gear You wont be accepted into the run.
