Default [wow] Need a gameplay opinion

Hey all, first time post here. Ive been lurking the boards for awhile and finally decided after multiple posts on other gaming boards, im not going be able to get the answer I would here.

I decided I want to try dual boxing. It will be one computer, two windows. Its going to be a plain jane set up. No programs to communicate keys to two instances or the such, just some good ole alt-tabbin.

I want to box a fury warrior and priest. I havent decided the spec of the preist yet, but the preist obviously needs to have the capability to heal, so holy might be my route. These are two chars I both have leveled up to around 20 or so, but simply bore me to death. I love the concept and end game roles of each char, but since I already leveled up a few other chars, its make the grind that much tougher on these slow levelers. Im hoping to spark some renewed interest in them.

My question, lies not in suggestions on my setup or my char setup. I just want to know the viability of these two chars regarding group quests, lower level instances, etc. Ive leveled a handful of toon through azeroth without ever touching some of these lower level instances. I want to experience them firsthand, without drama of a Pug.

To me, this combo seems unbeatable, but not playing them past 20 really instills doubts. A good fury war, smashing thunderclaps, cleaves, or any other threat generating skills, while the priest throws a few SW:P's and some good heals. Plus since Im alttabbing, I just plan on macro'ing all my usable spells to either /assist "main" or /target "main" reducing the need to even glance at my second window.

I just want to do some of these instances at decent levels. I dont want to have to be 35 before I can run SFK, or 50 for SM. Anyways, I apologize for the long post. I hope someone out there has played this setup or can can at least comment on the viability of it. Thanks for any help in advance, and keep up this great site.

you can 2-man (war+heal) sfk at level 27 or so but you will never be able to do it with alt+tabbing so you better get Keyclone or some other software

I guess thats the answer I was looking for, though I hardly agree I need keyclone. TY tho.

I've tried the alt-tabbing route for two dps characters (moonkin and warlock) and for normal quests found that things were pretty much dead before I had a chance to do anything on the second character.

In instances obviously the mobs will die more slowly (if you are close to the correct level). I still think this would be quite hard though, even with TC and cleave on 3+ mobs my warrior is prone to losing one of them to the priests healing agro. Also I'm not sure alt-tabbing would be able to give you the reaction time needed sometimes to get heals off.

For outside instance I'd say you'll mainly be killing things with your warrior and using your priest as a health top-up (spec doesn't really matter at low levels for healing).

I'm not saying it won't work for you (my comp is fairly minimum spec wise, so I get a bit of lag when alt-tabbing), just in my experience it wasn't efficient levelling two characters via alt-tabbing.

Your not playing on a pvp server are you? if so that will be some big issues down the road with alt tabbing.

The problem you will have with alt tabbing to tank and heal on an instance is some times the healer will have to spam heals to keep the tank up. Either because too many where pulled, you got an add that you didn't notice, or your fighting a boss fight where the mob just hits too hard. Im not saying this can not be done, in EQ when i 3 boxed, I did it with no special hardware or software, but that was easy 2 on 1 boss fights that only had a tank and spank strat. Further you get in the game, even lower level instances are not tank and spank.

If you still want to use no hardware or software to help you box, it can be done, just like it can be done without using macros, but then again, I "can" walk to work, its just a lot faster in a car.

Tried this, as my first ever dual boxing... (pretty much) alt+tab or in my case two monitors, can work but issue I always had was that, to hold agro in an instance I needed to drop fury and go defensive, but then I don't have the damage to kill. If I stick to fury (arms/berserker) then while I can hold the agro on two or three, any thing else slips past and kills the priest (in my case druid). And this was stockades so nothing especially high level.

Main issue is though if you're doing your damnedest to stay alive on the warrior, you don't have the depth of awareness to keep an eye on the priest to make sure it doesn't have a stray add beating on it. By the time you notice it has an issue it will be too late for you to alt+tab back heal priest, and pull the add back into the group you're playing with.

Instead of alt-tabbing, you could try playing in windowed mode, and have one screen in the top-left corner and the other bottom-right. There will be some overlapping, but you'll be able to see most of both screens at any given time, and instead of requiring alt+tab to switch, its just a fast click to the window. Thats how I 3 boxed and it worked great for me. The only macros I had were /follow, /assist+/cast(+/petattack), nothing advanced.
