    Default XP 'Analysis' and Questions

Calling it analysis is a bit strong, but some observations from the last 2 days of playing my 5 shaman team:

I find myself a bit bummed at the slow xp (I'm currently 32).

So, took a look at a few options and did some xp/h measuring:

    1) Questing in the Shimmering Flats - Gathering. (at 31)
The number here is a bit iffy as it was done over 2 sessions, but working as fast as possible just after handing in the last quests I had just below 11k xp/hour.

    2) Running SM GY (at 31)
With no rested, just under 18k xp/hour.

    3) Doing the animal hunting quests in STV (started at 31, dinged 32 during)
After hading in final Tiger quest, 21k xp/hour.

    Now for the questions:

Does this seem to fit your experience? To me, option 1 seemed quite a bit lower than expected.

The 21k xp/h run was lovely - Now, it only lasted about an hour - the quests there are now red and the mobs to kill are 38, which at 32 is quite doable but takes all my mana - So, what do you guys do? Grind out a quest area until no quests are available, or move on when mobs to kill start becoming red? (not saying they are un-killable, just questioning if it's worth the time).

    Hi Grin

Your experience of XP rates is a perfect example tbh. Kill quests are great for XP, Instances are ok, and collection quests suck.

That will always be the way. Sometimes I grit my teeth and bear the collection quests if the respawns are ok, especially in outland, as the XP from this can help you catch up from the fact that you are grouped.

As for quest mods, yes, Quest Helper points you in the direction of quests in your log, I used to use it, but prefer Carbonite quest now, because of the nicer UI and cool minimap.

As an aside though, I've rolled a new team on Silvermoon EU now, and have a bank char called "Silvermug" so if you see me, give me a /wave

Thanks guys, I guess there is no such thing as a free lunch?

I'll keep an eye out for 'silvermug' - [s]What team are you rolling with?[/s] Silvermoon desperately need horde players :P

EDIT: Scratched the question since I read your sig

Yeah those xp rates sound about right. If you have a 70 of almost any kind you can get better by boosting them. If you have a 70 paladin, warlock, or mage you can get several times faster.

I'm currently getting about 60-70k per hour average in the 60s. When I can pick up a set of multiboxing friendly quests, it's about 100-120k per hour, but once I run out it slows down quite a bit. If I'm completely unrested and have nothing but collection quests left, it's like 50k per hour.

Boosting is definately the fastest way to level. Depending on your team, if you can solo instance relatively wow, this is the second best option.

I was able to net about 60% of my exp ever 30-40 minutes or so at level 20 simply from boosting isntances. After about 3 instance runs subbing characters in and out, the hourly restriction usually resets, so it's relatively a good timing.

I was leveling 3 shamans through questing earlier. The pace seemed slow, as any collection quests ending in a pure grindfest, waiting for respawns, trying to get other quests done. When I was questing with my 5 shamans, I simply ignored all collection quests, unless it an item pickup, instead of chance to drop off a mob.
