multiple monitors?

I have had some fun doing 5 man teams on trial accounts and recently got access to a 5th full account so i wanted to really get into this but i had a problem with using only 1 monitor (17" LCD at 1280x1024) i tried showing several resized windows at a time but they are simply too small to use properly.

Now I saw a setup here that had on main monitor and one sideways LCD on either side of the main monitor which would work perfectly but i dont know how to do this with one computer, my gfx card has 2 monitor slots but i dont know how to go about getting the 3rd, is it as simple as using one port on my second card or a splitter for on of the ports or is it just not possible to use 3 separate monitors on one computer?
