A lot changed in a year!

As some of you may remember I took a year off and came back a few weeks ago, also just hit 70 this weekend x5 woohoo.

Anyway, MAN things have changed since I’ve been gone. Before (a year ago) a lot of people would think 5 boxing is cool and have some positive things to say. I’d get my fair share of “OMG HAX, WTF”. Now, a lot of people know what it is, and instead of OMG HAX, the most common things I hear during my time is the following.
“Hello Virgin show us a trick!”
“Looser”
“Basement Dweller”
“Dude get out more”
Etc.

What’s the most surprising is the duration between insults, this weekend the record for longest time gone without some insult being thrown at me is about 15m, with the most common being 5m. Even after soloing a small Crossroad raid clearing them out.

I’ve already adjusted to all the new hate. So I’m guessing since all the whiners can’t do anything about it and blizzard approves of boxing this is the result? Just trying to figure things out.

Weird, I did get some hate while leveling but I haven't gotten any for a long time since I hit 70 (well a few times in BGs, but I don't generally watch BG chat anyway). US-Crushridge/Cyclone is pretty multiboxer friendly.

I was on pretty much all day yesterday and I only got one questionable comment. All the rest was positive or people didn't say anything at all. And it wasn't like I didn't go places where people were. I spent time in Shatt as well as Stormwind. So if anything my experience has gotten better over the last few months.

I think a lot of it has to do with how common multiboxers are now. Many in PvP have been rolled by 5-boxers enough to hate them, and it's only worse that Bliz tells the whiners to STFU about it. Get used to ignoring 90% of the people you run across. I started 5-boxing in January when I joined this site, but I was dual-boxing way back around March/April of '07 and I didn't receive at all as much negative crap for it then.

My nephew is over for the week, so he, my wife and I decided to roll up some orc hunters just to play around with for funzies. We named them all close to the same name, but each of us were only controlling one toon.

We still got the hate... even though we were obviously moving and acting completely indipendently, we were haxors, and bottors...

It was kind of funny to me... my wife has never multi-boxed and she didn't care for the hate.

Some people are just plain ignorant.

It varies a lot by server I'm assuming. I've got 5x 70's on Blackhand and no one hates on me... I'm also the guild leader of a prominent guild who's always had good relations with most of the server... that may help in it's self.

My guild accepts my hobby, the folks I ran into while leveling most often were cool with it, a few zomghax here and there, but nothing suprising or overly rude...

My favorite to date is the guy who told me it was illegal to have more than one account at all... I thought "Gee, and Blizzard has the character transfer service why then?"

I know... my first 70 was a hunter. It can't be wrong when it feels so right.
