HOLA AMIGO
I told someone about dual boxing the other day and i feel like it's possible you may be him... but probably not
Anyways. i'm pretty new too, but i've been leveling up some classes and it comes down for me to my play style really. And what i like. I'm leveling a 2 rogue combo and a 2 hunter combo right now and plan to do others. I really like the way 2 rogues works, its a little difficult with 2 melee, but in the end you can stun lock pretty much anything from 100% to 0 so it's not hard to deal with (Clothies really don't even need to be stunned, dual ambush = win). And the thing about dual boxing is it isn't that hard to actually actively play 2 screens near simultaneously, and i think you can be much more effective that way. I don't even have a main, i switch between the two so much, i set it up so one button press and my other character is now the follower. IT works well. The hunter combo is really good too, fast levelers. I am not too experienced pvpwise there but the damage coming out seems too high for it not to be good but i'll have to see.
I really feel like playing 2 same classes doesn't necesarrily gimp you. I try to think of a 2 man arena team as a single class... If you think of it in such a way, a team with a healer isn't putting out as much damage as possible but they have a better defense. So technically if your offense>their offense, and you defense<their defense. It should be an evenly matched game. But obviously class combos, talent spec, etc. all make differences in who has that small advantage, oh and of course skill may be the biggest factor. If you think of an opponent being a healer class because they have a healer on their team, and you being a dps class because you have 2 dpsers, it's really no different from a 1v1 fight between a healer and a dpser. And i think that often times DPS can win.
So i don't think you are going to really be gimp. The 2v2 bracket really in the end comes down to who are the better players i think. The more players you add the more complicated things get, because you can't down a priest in 2 shots when 4 other people have his back. To be good at 2 boxing, i think you need to separate screens running equal size, and don't choose favorites. I can't stress enough how important it is dual boxing to play both characters individually and not just from the macroes.
If you do that, i think 2 boxers have a chance to get good in the Arena. 5 boxers don't really have that because they can't get that independent control of all 5 of their characters that you can with 2. You'd have to have super reflexes/brain
It takes a while to get the hang of any play style but once you do its easy. To be honest, i don't think it would be that much harder to figure out good ways to do pally/mage as it would be to do lock/lock. They all take a little work to set up, but in the end it's probably not going to be that big a difference. But if you want to play 2 of the same class i don't think you will be dissapointed.
