So I've finally gotten a bit sick of running my batch files to update all of my character settings across computers (5-boxing currently and damn Nixi for making me seriously consider moving to 10 ;-) and tried setting up symlinks in Vista to make it easier last night. Here's my setup:
1 Mac Pro as the main computer running OSX Tiger
4 Shuttle PCs running Vista for the other 4 characters
I have my /World of Warcraft/ folder on the Mac shared using Sharepoints (http://hornware.com/sharepoints/) and I can see it and copy/read anything from it with the permissions set up as they are (my batch files use this to update each computer back to the mac, then I run a second batch file to copy it all back to each windows box so any character can be logged in on any of the computers and have the settings the same). I have the Mac WoW folder mapped to the y: drive on the vista boxes and when I set up the symlinks it all seemed to work properly. Here's the command I used:
mklink /D "c:\World of Warcraft\WTF\Account" y:\WTF\Account
This seemed to work OK as the game loaded all the settings properly and saves them when exiting, but whenever I logout or exit the game it hangs on the last view that the character was seeing (kind of like the pause in the world when you are DCing) and stays there 'till I hit CTRL-ALT-DEL to start up the task manager and force quit Wow (which at that time has gone to "Not Responding"). Does anyone have any ideas what could be going wrong? I've thought about picking up a Time Capsule so that I can just store all the WTF folder info out on the network, but if this isn't working I'm not confident that will. Thanks for any help you can offer!
