    Default RX700 - stay away

I'm not sure if it really belongs here or not, but here's my cautionary tale:

The StarTech SV431USB keeps disconnecting from slave machines when switching. It'll just stop responding to both mouse and keyboard until the USB cable from the KVM is unplugged and plugged in again. Not necessarily anything to do with the KVM, just FYI.

Logitech RX700 mice seem to ship with *different* RF keys. So I can't find any way to make them all slave off of one mouse. I tried resetting and so on, but no luck. A quick google didn't turn up anything on getting the keys to sync to a new mouse, either. AFAICT, I'm screwed and need to buy new mice or buy the usb mouse splitter from Vetra. I've got a support question in to Logitech about this, but no response yet.

It might be useful to get the precise brands that people have had success with (or in this case, failure).

    :cursing:

For WiFi mice, I used Logitech Cordless Optical Mouse model #M-RAT95a. For keyboards, I used Linkworld LK-1000 wireless models. I use Octopus these days but those should get you up and running with a minimum of cash outlay.

    Logitech's response:

There is no workaround in having one mouse to establish connection with multiple receivers.

The reason for this is because each of our products has a special Radio Frequency ID (RFID) tag embedded inside the receiver and the devices. The receiver will only be able to recognize the mouse or keyboard that is already pre-paired to the receiver during manufacturing.

Therefore, it is not possible to pair a mouse to multiple receivers at the same time. Each receiver will only be able to recognize and sync with the mouse that came together with the package.

This was done to avoid interference among different devices should they be connected within the same area to work with.

I hope the information above was able to address your query.
