Here's the short version since I had a long version that rambled on and on:

Eat less calories than you burn.

Doing so will cause you to lose weight. If you want to be all buff, add exercise. Exercise /= weight loss

Stop eating things that come in a bag or a box. Eat more things you can find on a old family farm.

Sleep at least 7 hours a day if you can. If you can, it will cause you to lose less weight or actually gain weight. Sleeping more than 8 hours will not help you lose weight.

The big one: Don't buy junk food. If you don't have it, you can't eat it.

That being said, if not having enough time to work out for 1.5 hours a day every day comes from having a wonderful family and working hard at my job, then I don't mind packing on a few pounds.
