    Default G15 Keybord setup guide

Here is a small guide to setup your G15 keyboard

First you need the mod G15 Buttons: http://www.curse.com/downloads/details/9562/

    Original description by eyyubvolkan:

This add-on provides groups of action buttons. In actual, there are 3 groups of buttons you can create. To use

this add-on you DO NOT need logitech G-15 keyboard or any other special stuff. This is just bar mod which

happens to have a default setup to look like the G15 macro keys.

So why the name is G15 Buttons ? Because of, the idea has come related to my new G-15 keyboard And button

groups are optimized for the keyboard. But also you can change all the settings via options form.

You can create upto 24 buttons per group and can change starting id of buttons. You can also change the row

count, offset, scale and someother options. You can create a group of buttons and move it where ever you want.

You can change all the parameters with options dialog (/g15).

Also you can bind keys (any key, even normal keyboard keys via 'Key Bindings' in-game menu.

    for options; /g15
and then follow the easy setup:

Howto setup key bindings for this addon:

1.) install the addon the usual way (download the archive and extract it to [WoW]\Interface\Addons\)

2.) launch WoW, log into your account and join with any of your chars.

3.) switch to windows desktop (press Alt-Tab), launch Logitech G-series Keyboard Profiler

    4.) assign unique key bindings to all 18 G15-keys, for example CTRL-ALT-A to G1, CTRL-ALT-B to G2, ... CTRL-

ALT-R to G18. Make sure to have the right keyboard profile "World of Warcraft" activated

5.) switch back to WoW, press <Esc>, open "Key Bindings", scroll down to section "G15 Buttons Addon"

6.) Assign key bindings to 1. group, buttons 1 to 18 by pressing G1 to G18

7.) close the key bindings menu, go back to game.

8.) open G15 Buttons options dialog by typing /g15, activate the 1st group.

9.) drop a cast from your spellbook to the upper left button.

10.) hover your mouse over this button, the tooltip should show "ALT-CTRL-A" in green letters in the last line.

11.) press G1 to test the key binding.

    12.) setup finished.

    thanks for the informative post,

I've been doing some testing with the G15 as well, last few days but...
    1) didn't download the addon, basically it does nothing trinity bars 2 can't do for me (create a few buttons that i can assign the same layout as the G15, and assign the G15 button for it)
    2) and this is the main problem...

I use they keys E (strafe left), R (forward), T (strafe right) & V (backwards) to navigate (don't ask, been using those for very long time, since old days of doom ).
    now i bind G1 on my G15 to <alt>+<ctrl>+R
I set my auto shoot button on my 3 hunters to the G1 key (hey... they are level 2 atm )
everytime that i hit my G1 button.... my leader does a step forward.....
now that's a problem, because some other stuff happens as well like that (opening bags, hiding user interface ...)

so at this moment i'm going over my keybindings, to make sure i don't "double" keybind a G15 keybinding to my "main" wow keys.
this is a pain, and i hope to god that i can find 18 keys that are free

ps. this also certainly eliminates the ability of switching the profile from M1-M3 so no 54 keys to use extra
if only those 54 G15 keypresses had their recognizable key in wow... most multiboxers wouldn't need extra comps

pps. a big thanks btw for explaining this, and a big thumbs up for posting a nice guide for people that are curious about initial setup

i appreciate all the work that you guys put into this information. The one problem that I have with the first generation G15 is that, even though there are a lot of keys on the sides (thus giving way to mucho programability options), i find that for the average ESDF user, the keys are a bit hard to reach. Does anyone else agree with me on this? I kinda like keeping my left hand on the movement keys and the surrounding areas (A, Z, X, C, V, W [MAIN NUKE BUTTON], Q, T, G, B, H).

Stretching out my left hand to hit the g15 keys is kinda inconvenient, because then i have to remove my hand from their resting position. I do however still use the middle bank of 6 keys for healing (individual, group and chain healing among the shamans in my group). I originally had intended to use all the keys on the side, but i ended up not doing that due to the facts that i mentioned above.

oh well. i love this keyboard anyhow, wouldn't trade it for the world. (ok maybe i'd trade it for 2 tickets to see The Dark Knight in IMAX, just saw it on regular theatre screen, kicks some major gluts)

Now to get my keyboard setup for my feet... not sure what kind of drawer knobs i need to buy though, and how to mount them....

Agreed, their not easy to reach from the esdf keys.
I have the lowest block set to an acceptall button and switching focus to toons (keyclone bound to it to swap my mainwindow aswell)
the middle is only used to go furbolg form, /follow and the formation
upper block is still unused, but will probably end up in 5 healbuttons

Yes, my middle block only has 3 working keys,
My cat thought it was a great idea to spill beer on it the day I got it (oh noes more gaming stuff, there goes my attention)

I'll end up with an x-keys pad soonish
    Real-Life is overrated,
in the end we all die and our family will be like "can i haef your stuff"

I bought a g15 and an xkeys pro. i don't use more than 6 keys on the g15 and I don't use the xkeys pro at all. :/ I have the same uncomfortable feeling moving my hand off the ESDF keys to push buttons. The g15 keys I use are the bottom set of 6. 1 is formation, another is follow, and the other 4 are just /emotes.

I was all excited to use the xkeys as a keyboard replacement, but the layout just drives me nuts. It only has 4 columns in the center, and as a ESDF user that hits A and G regularly that missing column (to go 5 wide to mimic my A SDF G) just feels completely unnatural. Ugh.
