Friend got me into one called "QuestHelper" along with another I can't remember the name of, but it places a red arrow on your screen and points in the direction you need to go, how far away it is and how long it will take to get there.
Cartographer is the addon you're probably looking for.
I use it together with Questhelper and works great,

It was kinda annoying that it was sending me off to do other people's quests whenever I joined a raid tho

Great point about not using it on the slaves tho,
but since I usually do some quests involving drops in stages,
i'ld like it to send me back to the place as soon as I get near it again.
So BackSeatQuester it is I guess
    Real-Life is overrated,

Thanks for the replies folks. I was using QuestFu when I wrote the OP, but I'll give the others mentioned a shot. Back Seat Quester looks fabulous.

One thing I would recommend is Lightheaded. This addon gives detailed notes on all quests in a box attached to your quest log, which are all the forum replies people have given to quests - advice, where to go, details about drops and mobs etc. With Cartographer, all the notes have clicky locs you can use to instantly create waypoints.

One addon I would love to have is something to tell me when one of my chars gets out of range (so I know its no longer on follow). The number of times I leave a char behind and have to run him to catch up is a pain.

For tracking alts I use quest announce, but then again, I only have one other character to keep track of. For quest help (waypoints, etc) There is no other mod than Carbonite. Anything else is a waste of time.

Really! I reckon Quest Helper saves me loads of time

I use nQuestLog. It's pretty lightweight, and is mostly just an on-screen quest tracking minion. I love it because it shows completion for the rest of my chars (ie: Kadone 5/10, Kadtwo 2/10, Kadthree 10/10). I can just mouseover the quest minion to see which alts still need what for quests.

I use tomtom + lightheaded for questing, but after reading some of these descriptions, I think i'm going to have to check out some of the alternatives.

I've used both Carbonite Quest and QuestHelper, but for me both of those have turned out to be huge memory drains, so I dont use them anymore.
My combination of JasonQuest and QuestsFu gives me the tracking I need, and if I dont know where to go I usually find that in Lightheaded (with TomTom), or if all else fails I'll get MobMap to show it for me on the map.
I'm going to live forever, or die trying.

QuestHelper I run to track quests in tooltips (I love being able to see WHO has how much of what, lol) I often turn it on and off depending on if I'm questing... Carbonite I run on my main for the wonderful map system... but I still run cartographer/questhelper anyway, lol.

I picked up QuestHelper last night and really liked it. It saves me the trouble of having to open the quest info up in lightheaded and click the coordinates. Right now i'm enjoying the route builder but as previously stated its not 100% accurate as to your best path to follow. Beyond the little flashing I get sometimes on the map and minimap its a great plugin.

I got sick of the flashing, as sometimes in large zones like the barrens and ashenvale it'll WIG OUT... so I just used /qh perf 10% to make it so it only updates 1/10 of the time it did, and now it just click's back and forth like a pendulum instead of like a metronome on crack lol.
