I talked with Ellay and it was the link that was the problem with the first posting. And btw, for the record, I wasn't 'promoting' it. just worried about it.

Botters have been multi-botting for ages.

It has nothing to do with multiboxing. Botting is botting.

Multiboxing is defined as controlling more than one account at the same time.
Botting is automating the control of ONE account. You can run multiple bots on one computer, but typically you do not run one bot which runs multiple accounts, because each bot needs to maintain "awareness" of each WoW instance since they typically do not group (due to the nature of grouping/multiboxing getting more attention). Granted, one bot program can have multiple threads, but each thread has a dedicated "brain" to each wow window. We have one brain, dedicated to multiple windows.

They are very much different. Multi-botting is akin to multiple players all playing off of the same physical computer, but each with their own terminal/keyboard/mouse.

Of course, I didn't see the link (nor do I care to), but if it was indeed a botter attempting to multibox bot, then I'm boggled. He'll get banned in short order with that amount of attention being drawn to the group.

Sorry about that, I didn't intend to imply that you were promoting it. I just tend to consider links as a form of promotion, since people can click and visit the site(s).

In this case they are using multiboxing technology such as keystroke cloners, etc. I guess you could say he set up his multibox team and then added botting technology to it.

I am going to guess some of the botters may try it but will quickly find out it isn't worth it. I guess I was concerned that singleboxers who see these entire groups getting stuck on things, etc, will cloud what they initially think of boxers. This is probably not going to be a huge problem but just wanted to bring awareness.

Well, it looks like we won't have to worry about this anymore. However, this is opening a can of worms as far as copyright goes.

Vnydree-- It was a multiboxing bot, 1 brain 4 buddies.

Overall you guys really have nothing to worry about, this wont be something you see. It was just a setup some buddies of mine did, to see if it actually worked. It did, but its not efficient, it was risky as is I get to much attention on my real 4 box team and doing this with 5 bots would be the closest thing to a instant ban you can get.

Blast3r- Botters that try this, are smart enough to not get stuck, and use the right tools to not do it. But again, they know it's to risky and I don't expect anyone to proceed much further then this video with it. And for it going away, I doubt that man. Appeals processes take a *long* time, the next game could be out before any final ruling goes into effect I would imagine.

Multibox-botting is the most stupid way of botting that one can do:
    - It draws a lot more a lot more attention with multiple characters following you.
As a legit player, I've been reported at least half a dozen times before hitting level 60 and that's only counting the reports from people in the open world(non-bg) and people telling me they had reported me.
    - When 1 account is banned, it's VERY likely that the others will be banned too, since they are in range and doing exactly the same.
