Default Deleted thread about botters using multiboxing

I had posted a video of someone who is using <ninja edit> software to multi-bot. I was thinking it is something that the boxing community should be aware of. Is something like this not allowed? There are a lot of professional botters out there and if something like this does get popular I think it may cause extra problems for us. Anyways.

edit: ninja edited out that which must not be named

as an fyi... we multi-boxers have struggled to insure people understand we are not bots, which is against the EULA/TOS.

our efforts have been rewarded by the acceptance of multi-boxers by blizzard and sony.

as such, we avoid promoting any type of botting... and do not mention nor link to tools/videos that would make such illegal behavior possible

Just for clarification, are you saying people have set up bots that mimic what we're doing legitimately? As in, I need to keep an eye on other multiboxers I don't know? I've always assumed that almost nobody would bot multibox because we're already under so much additional scrutiny.

Ya I snipped it Blast3r, it was not against you - but I want no association with botting at all on here

You have to have a zero-tolerance for that kind of thing, MBing gets enough abuse. We have too many anti-social gits from the WoW forums looking for things here to jump all over and post over there, any discussion of botting is just a bad idea.

The guy in the video is using bot software to control a 5 man team and is even using keyclone, etc. I didn't do a lot of research but yes, he is using multibox techniques and adapting it to botting. Sure isn't a good idea for them to do that. As you say we (multi-boxers) are already under scrutiny and I imagine adding a bot mechanisim would probably make them even look more suspicious. If they get banned I imagine it would be a ban to the entire group if a GM witnesses it. Hopefully that will happen and the botters figure out it isn't worth it.

I don't agree with this statement but that is just me. I think you should always discuss things that may impact you and your playstyle and this is one of those things.

Personally, I don't see the point of multi-box botting. The purpose of botting is to have your character farm/level with no required input from the user so there is no real point in linking those toons. Botting multiple toons on one box at the same time, I see the point, but again, linking them doesn't seem like it would give any benefit. In addition, botting is pretty obvious if you ever come across it, even more so when you have multiple toons doing it.

I think that this forum has a zero-tolerance policy regarding the promotion of illegal activities, and that is fine. Discussing these issues is important as long as there are no links or explanations/suggestions on how to break the rules. I am not concerned with giving anti-MB people ammunition either way. But I think it can help people who want to multibox avoid some pitfalls that they may not be aware of. I think that thanks to this forum/site, people are aware of the need to have your account ownership in proper order. I believe that due to this, there have been at least a few multiboxers who straightened out their account issues before it became a problem. I think that at least a few of those cases would have led to the bans of accounts of family members or friends and thus we helped avoid some very bad situations.

By taking a responsible stance on the issue of cheating, we can help multiboxers, both existing and prospective, stay on the correct side of the line and avoid running into trouble. Considering how often we get reported for "botting" and accused of "cheating," it's important to continue to discuss these issues without allowing anyone to promote them.
