Questions from a dual-boxer just getting started and lost already

Hello everyone. I'm new to the multiboxing but have been wanting to get into it for the last year or two. I recently just bought a laptop to accompany my desktop for multiboxing. I have my two accounts and have been playing around with using both computers at once. I setup macros on the laptop such as assist macros/casting spells and what not and I have to reach over and press that keyboards buttons as I do not yet have my KVM switch.

I have a few questions that I've been searching for for the last week but not feeling comfortible with the answers (not entirely sure what everything is). That being said I am truly sorry if I ask questions that have been answered before. It mostly seems like the questions I have have answers in various places and I was hoping to get someone to help me with this.

My questions are:

If I get a KVM switch is that all the hardware I technically need (I have a g15 keyboard, see next question)?

I have a logitech g15 keyboard. Everything I'm finding concerning xkeys and what not seems to me to fall under what I already have but I'm not sure that's a true statement. Let me rephrase. Will my g15 work the same as an xkey? Do I need to buy a second keyboard like the Happy Hacker? Or am I fine with that?

Formations. Are they macro controlled or keybinding controlled? I know this has been answered and I found the thread for it but at the same time I've found threads saying the opposite and I'm just confused now.

I got the Multiboxer AddOn but it doesn't display anything in game for me. It puts them on autofollow (not always when they should be and less often when they should) so for now I've been using the Followme addon which has worked quite well thus far.

I'm sure more questions will arise as this has been a brain frying ordeal for me as I know it shouldn't be but I'm so eager to learn it all fast which may be my problem. So everyone knows, I am Dual-Boxing. One account per computer at a max right now of two. Which may be why I'm struggling to find all this information in one place as most people seem to be 5-boxing.

I cannot seem to get multiple function macros to work. I've tried using the /stopcasting and tried using without to no avail. For now I am assuming what I'm trying to do will not work but varification on either hand would be most appriciated. My current desired macro is;

/cast Hunter's Mark
/cast Concussive Shot
/cast Arcane Shot

I was under the understanding that instant casts would work like this but I seem to be wrong. Whenever I use this macro it only places the Hunter's Mark, nothing more even on a double-click.

Last question for now; Can someone point me in the right direction for controlling both toons -pets- with a macro? i.e. Send them to a target together? I'm sure I could figure that one out but I've already started this thread and going with questions that have come up for me. I'm sorry if I've asked questions that I should have found answers for but I'm simply new to multi-boxing as well as macro use and I'm computer retarded.

Howdy Sydidex and welcome to the forums!

i'm not much of a hardware boxer... outside of using the network to coordinate remote keyclones... but i'm sure someone good to KVMs will chime in.

as for formations... they are basically just creative wow key bindings. pick a key you aren't using... and have each clone do something a bit different when you hit. having one strafe right while another moves left .. and your leader stands still.. will give you a triangle pretty quick.

as for controlling pets... i had rolled my imps attacks into my opening salvo macro (there is a bit of noodling with targeting... i use focus for targeting... but that's outside of your question). after you have the macros on the same action button... hitting that button will trigger all connected wows (and for my 5x warlock group... would send 10 bolts o' joy inbound to the target... oh, what a great sight )

Any chance you could list the macro you use for your imps? It would help me understand what needs to be in it. Thank you for your help Keyclone.

for a simple opening salvo.. i replace the standard shadow bolt with:

/cast [target=focustarget] shadow bolt
/petattack [target=focustarget]

that's all on one macro. i also replace the simple melee attack macro with:

/startattack [target=focustarget]
/petattack [target=focustarget]

Dumb question, what do you mean by Salvo? I have a feeling it doesn't necessarily pertain to me, just one of those curiosities, haha.

an opening salvo would be the first round of shots you would take at the enemy... usually your longest cast/biggest damage

I now have another question after reading something on one of the threads. Someone talked about Synergy. The description makes it sound (to me) as though you could go that route instead of the KVM switch route. Is this true?

you can use synergy to allow your mouse to move between screens.. very useful (i use it).

you will still need something to coordinate your key strokes... this is where keyclone enters the picture

I don’t know of any KVM switch that broadcasts to 2 computers at the same time. I’m sure something like that now exists but not many are going the hardware route these days. I don’t blame them.

Take a look at my hardware guide here. It may help you understand what Vectras are all about. I'd go the software route and save the cash. I started the exact same way your boxing now, using 2 keyboards and mice.
