Choosing between 8800GT and 8800GTS

First of all I have to confess when it comes to graphics cards I´ve never been entirely clear on when additional RAM overtakes GPU power so apologies if this is a daft question....

BUT. I´m considering buying either the 8800GT 1024MB or the 8800GTS 512MB.

To the best of my knowledge there is no GTS version in 1024MB.

I will initially be running 5 instances of WoW on a widescreen monitor. When I have the space, I´ll be outputting the alts to a 4:3 monitor and keeping the main on the widescreen. Or maybe vice-versa, not sure yet.

What would be the best of these two cards under the circumstances please? Bearing in mind also that I would use the widescreen for other games in the future where I won´t be multiboxing.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Personally, I use a 8800 GTS with about 600MB (don't remember exact number) on it running 5 clients of WoW on a 24" widescreen monitor.
Runs good enough for me, but thats all I know, have not tried the GT, so this is all I can say.

8800GTS - 2 22" monitors for 5 instances at 18x16

The performance difference for price points to the GTS unless something has changed that the price of the GT cards has come down that much.

If you get the GTS make sure you get the one with the G92 chip.

I have a 10 screen setup with 5 8800GT 256mb cards.

(I think its the Gt, but i know its the 8800 lol)

Got a 8800GT with 1gb ram, tests with 1x wow fullgfx on main screen (22" ws) and 4x wow on 19"(1280x1024) also high runs great.

For me today there's no reason in buying a 8800 GTS anymore(except a few bucks ofc).

I"m running 2 8800 GTS 640MB and two 22" monitors. Incredible performance!

Bang for the buck, you're better off buying a single ATI 4850 ($190) or 4870 ($310) at this point.
