Why did I pay Paypal to pay for Keyclone with my CC?

It's not a big deal...it's only a buck. I was curious, however, why Paypal is making money off me when I did not use their services? I paid for keyclone, and I was charged 20 for it and a buck to Paypal?

I know it's just a buck, so please don't think im some cheap ass. But, a buck x how many keyclone users? I wish I could charge a buck everytime someone bought a hamburger from McDonalds!

Btw, awesome program. I only have 1 issue with it...

It takes awhile to switch between characters (using split screen). If I die on my main in Pvp, it takes quite awhile for me to switch to my second/third. Anyway to speed that process up? My rig can handle quite a bit more than this.

I've never experienced them over charging me before, but we're multiboxers... not Paypal support technicians. It's typically best where financial questions are involved to ask the people directly.

I would defiantly check but I think that paypal when you first setup the account with them to pay for something charges $1 to validate the card then within 10 days refunds it. (I think it just puts a hold on it)

I did not setup an account with Paypal. I paid Keyclone directly with a CC. I am asking here, because this is where you ask questions about keyclone account issues. It is the way Keyclone has their billing setup that is causing this billing error.

When I had mine verified it was around this ammount .0x cents and .xx cents adding up to less than a dollar. I know sometimes they will charge a fee for money transfers, maybe it was seen as a money transfer, not as a purchase

as for paypal making $$$... yes, they make $$$ doing the transaction. this is the way of the world... although i was unaware of them charging more then the normal cost to the user. (i'm guessing you set up an account... which you didn't have to do.)

as is, they take quite a heavy percentage from each transaction... since the transaction amount is so low (it's between 5..10% of the price).

Actually, if Paypal is over-charging you $21, when everyone else on this forum only pays $20, then I would assume Paypal is the culprit.

But... that's just me and it's just a guess. I would kill two birds with one stone -- see if Keyclone knows anything about it and also contact Paypal to dispute the additional charge.


I know from my past e-bay times that Paypal makes money off of CC transactions -- they typically just skim a percentage before giving it to the seller -- though I've never heard of them overcharging the consumer. Paypal doesn't make money off of e-checks. In addition, Paypal will charge sellers who earn more than a certain amount of $$$ per month by making them pay to be able to transfer more than a few hundred dollars into their private banking account each month.

So, from my personal knowledge of paypal, I don't see why they should've overcharged you -- they make their money off of the seller, not the consumer.

Paypal refunded the buck. I was only charged $19.99 for my license of Keyclone.

Now, I can buy those teeth I always wanted.

To be honest, Keyclone rep, I would have paid double the amount for this software. Awesome support, not intrusive at all and it might just have saved my sanity.
