Default Broke down and started a shammy team.

Well, I've commited... or should be commited... don't know which yet really.

I have a team of 70's that I am not really interested in playing anymore. Warrior (should have went Tankadin), Priest, Mage and two locks. The combo seemed right when I started and it does work but I don't think I understood MY goals when I started it. My original team was the Priest and four Locks but I switched out two of the locks for a mage and a warrior, the mage for some cc action and the warrior for tanking as I was told you need a REAL tank for outland instances. They were right but I still should have just stuck with the locks and the priest as I don't CC enough to make it worth while and I don't enjoy doing instances by myself... so the tank thing is a wash.

I had started a full shammy team and left them after the novelty of ghost wolf (or ghost PACK as I liked to call them) wore off. They were 21 a week and a half ago.

They hit 44 last night. (Hooray for the next level of Lightnign Bolts!). I did NOTHING but play them over the long 4th of July weekend. Massive sessions... fastest levelin I've ever done.

I am having a blast! (LOL Blast=CL+LB+FS) I can't wait to get these guys to 70 and into some good gear so I can help out my guild.

You see, my guild is small. We are less then 15 players stong (all really good guys and gals who don't take the game too seriously and are there just to have fun) and a few of them don't even have one level 70. I've seen the inside of Kara exactly once, and only for the firey draggon dude, by tagging along with another guild. I am hoping that the shammans will allow my guild to see some additional content. They will be the DPS force for the guild. Want to Kara? Just add shammans. Want to see ZA? Just add shammans. I have high hopes for this.

Hope to reach fifty by the end of the weekend.
Hope 2.4.3 comes out soon as the team is 44 right now and I haven't purchased mounts in antisipation of cheaper riding skills. (Would not have been an option without ghost wolf.)
Hope to be 70 by the end of the month as my brother gets home from the Warp tour around then and I want to surprise him with being able to do Kara finaly.
Hope to be able to do ZA enough times to get my guildmates and me the bear mounts before the expansion takes the drop away.

    Hope hope hope hope...

Hope you all are having as much fun as I.

You're the exact opposite of me. Tried shamans but then wound up rolling a pve focused team very similiar to the one you just abandonded (extra priest and a paladin instead of tank).

Didn't like the shamans at all. Something about totems I just absolutely hate.

At this stage of the game I only use totems for big fights. Looking forward to my 41 talent point and the crits that come with it.

Don't get me wrong.. I had fun with the mixed team for quite a while. But found there was really no subbing in my guild mates. Also found that I wasn't fond of doing instances by myself. They were super fun (and effective) in world PvE.. had a lot of fun questing and getting them to 70. Once I got those flying mounts though (and did a few dailies) got kind of bored. Found that it was becoming something of an obligation to do my dailies to get them gold. Felt like I was not doing my "job" if I didn't do my dailies.... sounds sad I know but it really discouraged me.

I also didn't like saying no to guild invites to doing heroics but when I was playing my group I wanted to play my group.

So I am hopeful that the shammans will solve a lot of my problems... if they don't... meh.. I'm having fun leveling them.

Do you have any more info on how your warrior was while leveling and instancing? Don't mean to de-rail the thread. But pallys are nice for multiboxers because you pretty much only use consecrate for aggro. Whereas with a warrior you gotta switch stances, shield block, revenge, sunder...etc.

The big reason I want my pve team to 70 is because they will be immensley (sp?) useful for boosting other characters, allowing me to try more crazy setups like 5x pallys, or 5x rogues.

    That's great!

I'm stuck right now, my full cloth team may have some problems end game, I saw it once I started doing out land instances. I think a lot of it has to do with macros and CC I need to take care of. It's a great deal to manage, running 4 classes i think i'd go crazy.

I really like the thought of trying out the x5 Shaman setup. Right now i'm waiting on my friend to gather the funds and he would like to start boxing. I plan to reroll with him and level a setup with him. My dream of my friend and I having 10 toons raping towns will be complete.

Due to Blizzards position on Hong Kong, money > freedom. I stopped playing.

I would NOT recommend the warrior as a tank for your five box team. Warrior is a great tank if that is all you are playing but takes WAY too much concentration to keep agro on large groups.

They do take a hell of a pounding but I would recommend sticking with your pally. What is your team makeup?

BTW: You can't really derail this thread as there were no real rails to begin with. I just felt like posting what I was up to.

I have pally, discipline priest, shadow priest, lock, and mage. For right now thats what the priests are, but as I level I'm sure it might change. This pve group has been much more fun to play than the 4 hunters I leveled. But the hunters are much more fun in pvp of course.

Yeah I couldn't imagine having a warrior for a tank while 'boxing. I played one just solo and it requires alot of attention to build/keep aggro, especially when more than one mob is added to the mix. They have so many abilities I would need like 10 hotkeys just for the warrior.

@Bradster - Multi-classing (new term? lol) is not that bad when you actually do it. The nice thing about the mage priest and lock is that they all have a very quick spell cast, and a long spell cast, instant casts, and channeled spells. So you can bind smite, fireball, and shadowbolt to one key, then scorch, searing pain, and mind blast to another. All those spells have very similiar cast times. The channeled spells are cool too: arcane missiles, drain life, mind flay, and if you have a nelf priest - starshards. Instant casts would be corruption/curse of agony, shadow word pain, and then fire blast on the fourth key. See what I mean, not too bad. Unless you add a druid to the mix....then that REALLY starts to suck.

Funny, before I started the multi-boxing crusade, I was a raiding Tankadin fighting the "you need a REAL tank" crusade. Equally geared warriors and paladins will have paladins taking 4% more damage; defensive stance reduces damage by 10%, paladin's talented is 6%. Nothing really huge, but sometimes my healers would know the difference.

The big thing for me was that I was, naturally, the resident AoE tank for large pulls in TK, SSC, BT and the tankadin paradise known as Hyjal. I would constantly get shit from the healers on how much more damage I took over our warriors. Of course this was, almost without fail, at the same time I've got 3/4 of a Hyjal wave beating on me and each of the warriors were off single tanking 1 mob; I'd just roll my eyes, laugh and carry on. There's nothing you can't do with a warrior that you can't do with a paladin that doesn't require maybe a couple extra heals in exchange for a lot less CC.

    Anyway, I digress...

Can I beg or bribe you and your friend to roll alliance on my server? I'll supply start up funds. Much like your avatar... I'm totally serial.

I took my mixed group Pally, 2xMage, Priest, Warlock all the way to 66/67 before I decided to try a 5xShaman group. I've never looked back!
