Stupid Crashes

ooh k so this is frustrating the crap out of me and I have spent 2 days trying to solve the following problem.



Everquest will run for a month if I only have 1 toon logged on: Within 10 mins of logging on a 2nd toon to box my PC reboots.

I have all updated drivers and re installed EQ.

I originally thought that my GPU was overheating. It is a Geforce 8600GT 1gig memory. I downloaded SpeedFan and tested. The CPU and GPU both run at about 60C when I have both toons logged in on (one on each monitor). I also ran a program called HeavyLoad that to stress my system. I got the temps of the GPU and CPU up to 80C and still no crash. I also downloaded a program called Video Card Stability Test and my PC ran both of those stress programs fine. My video card benchmarked with a score of 140.

The only WIERD thing i can find is when I do the "Test 3d" in dxdiag. The cube that spins that is supposed to have the Nvidia logo on it spins in hyper speed. Super Super fast.

My System: Windows XP

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+

3.01GHz, 3.00 GB of RAM

-Key Points

Everquest does NOT stress my GPU or CPU to the extent I have and Not crashed.

Everquest only crashes when I load up two toons.

Hope someone has some ideas!

I would highly recommend purging and then reinstalling your video drivers, then rebooting your PC. If that doesn't fix the textures on the Direct3D logo, you may have more serious issues. Also, have you tried grabbing the dual/quad core version of Prime95 and running that on "Torture Test" mode overnight? If that passes, it isn't a RAM/CPU/bus issue.
