4 box!

I was watching some vids a few hours ago, and I saw a bunch of videos of people who were 4 boxing, who completely owned face. And I thought to myself, 4 is the perfect number. I can almost solo instances, and will only need one person for a full 5. I got a trial account and gave it a go on 4 locks. and all I have to say is WOW. 4 is so much more fun than 3!! And within the hour or so I played I got way more attention from other players Everyone I saw was bowing haha.

Anyways I am currently running my setup on 1 computer, a laptop. My rig is a Alienware m9700, Geforce 7900gs. AMD Turion 65 mobile. 804 MHz, 1.00gb of RAM. What could I improve on my current computer to help the computer run smoothly without having to buy a new computer? Its definately playable right now, just wondering if there is any small things that I could change to give her a little boost. One thing that I should probably note is that with all 4 wow's running I'm not using 100% of the CPU. It bounces from about 85-95%.. Also, would it be possible to set up a 2nd monitor to a laptop? 4 Wow windows on 1 17' inch monitor is not to pretty

the single biggest improvement would probably be to add 2+ gigs of memory

Would I have to get some kind of specific memory? Or could I get any laptop memory?

i did a quick google and believe i found your system specs:

alienware m9700

memory says:
2GB Dual Channel DDR SO-DIMM at 400 MHz — 2 X 1024MB

so either your a bit off on your current memory, or you got it when they were shipping with 1G instead of 2G.
(run dxdiag from the start/run menu to check system specs.. just type it in and run)

i'm not exactly sure what the max memory capacities would be for this box, but hopefully someone else will chime in. otherwise, call alienware directly and ask them what the biggest single chip it can take would be (1.800.alienware)

you could also ask the alienware rep if they would ship you the memory... insuring you get the right stuff (hopefully)

installing laptop memory is usually easy... a couple of screws on the bottom of your laptop, pop out chips (gently) and put in new ones (standard caution against static, of course)

I did the dxdiag and it is indeed 1024mb. I will look into calling them, but wont they have to install it? Last time I ordered something from them they said opening the laptop would void my warranty :/

Typically there is just a screw at the bottom of the laptop for adding memory. You dont "open" the whole case - which could void your warranty...

There's usually 1 screw and a small plate on the bottom of your laptop. That's where memory is installed. I've done it to a bunch of laptops and there has never been a way of them knowing it was opened - there's no "warranty if seal removed" sticker on that plate.
