seems like a really limiting option and costs more than many sub-$10 or free software options.
Some people dislike the obvious reference to Third Party Applications. If Blizz decided that Multi-boxers are bad, then those using detectable key broadcasters and scripting software (read Multibox/Keyclone Autohot Key) would be the first targets. Hardware solutions are for those purposes all but undetectable.

Some I think use hardware for speed. With any of the software solutions you are adding latency to the equation. One keyboard with two wires (effectively what we're talking about) Has the same latency to both PCs (with some increase due to resistance and wire length) but still lower than putting the signal through at least one processing unit or through several network cards and possibly a router/switch (or all three).

Me I just go for use and price, we can't all afford the hardware, but if I could I would.

Keyclone does not work with Everquest unless you start fiddling with yet another piece of software.

Autohotkey is too complex for me.

I never got Multibox or Synergy to work over my network.

EQwindows and other software apps constantly get broken by patches.

It just never works the way I want, so I am going all hardware from now on. I want to spend more time playing and less time troubleshooting on forums.

The only software app that I have used extensively was Xylobot: not for its complex macro-ability (I know it got used for all sorts of illegal stuff) but for the fact that it had a feature that kicked ass for the way I box: it reads the EQ logfile and then can trigger a keyboard macro of text. So all I had to do was make a social for my main with some text like "/group Nuke em, guys!", then set up my boxes to react on this text trigger or not. Totally customizable for what you wanted each box to do, and I just needed my own keyboard for it. Well, and 6 computers, since there is no way to do this with several instances on the same comp, I think.

Off course in the end some EQ patch broke this app too and the maker stopped supporting it. So back to hardware.
