Default Event suggestion - Multiboxing awareness day

    Hi everyone.

After reading a lot of posts about how people react to us and not, and getting some of that action myself, I thought I'd suggest that we arrange an event where multiboxers on all servers get together and "put on a show" for everyone.

What I'm suggesting is that we agree on a day/date and time, where we all, on our own servers, meet up at an easy to reach location, and allow people to watch us in action, ask us questions and in general just show off our "skills".
We make people aware of it by everyone who are attending, posts a new thread on their home realm forums, informing their community about the event, and what location it will happen.
In the background, we prepare by sharing our best show-off macros, tips and tricks, making sure we give the world our best.

    What do you think?

A dog and pony show? Hmmmm....not sure I'll be attending that.

Picture if you will one of those old black and white newsreels from the 60's where folks locked arm in arm and sang "We Will Overcome", while getting the living shit stomped out of them. I avoid cities whenever I can just so I can avoid that kinda shit. Running past the mailbox in Org is about close as I wanna come to the belly of the beast.

Sorry, but I'll pass. You guys can do it thou and let me know how it goes! :P

Personally I won't be doing something like this - but I do commend you on wanting to better the situation for multiboxers.

I figure the vast majority of people will be tolerant or at least indifferent to multiboxing. (In fact the vast majority won't even know you exist).

The ones who really need the educating won't be receptive to such displays - "Not only are these cheaters getting away with it, but now they are rubbing our noses in it in the major cities. Something needs to be done" Would probably summarise their feelings (but would probably contain smaller words and swearing).

Ultimately though I figure I am within the Terms of Service. The opinion of a blinkered few doesn't matter to me.

I think it's nice that you want to improve the situation as mentioned above.

But I'm of the opinion that some (not all) people are just stupid, and I'd rather just avoid them.

I had a conversation with someone last night that backs up my theory. I call it a "conversation" because there were "words", and at least I was using punctuation.

Well.. I got the idea from a post on the Nagrand EU forums about me, where someone were asking the question about if I was using a 3rd party program or hack, and was I cheating. Most people went to my instant defense, which was great, but my thought behind this was to minimize this kind of reaction.

After all.. what we are doing is not against the EULA/TOU, and what would be better than if people knew and accepted that. Personally I believe that secrecy and hiding only brings out the bad in people..

But I guess you're right.. It was not such a great idea after all. :P

What if we schedule a once a month event where we pick one server/faction/race and just create new toons (unless you already have some on there) and meet in a major city? That would be insane. How many toons could that be? hundred? several hundred? How much lag would that be? I imagine a horrible amount but would be so much fun...me thinks.

In any event, I'm game for something like the OP says.

Given the growing hysteria against multiboxing and Blizzard's tendency to make knee-jerk changes when people yell loudly enough, I just don't see the point in continuing to advertise the community's accomplishments. I am afraid that we are hastening the day when this party is over.

Not sure hiding in the shadows is the answer. Imagine all the people that have never seen multiboxers who would see it in a very cool way. They would then be on the bandwagon of hey, leave that boxer alone it is legit. I personally think it would be cool to program a skit for an occasion like that letting the toons tell a story or something.
