Spore!

Is anyone else looking forward to Spore? I don't think I've been this excited about a new game in a long time. For those who are unaware, it's a new game from Will Wright, who created the likes of SimCity and The Sims. It's nice to see that there are still new and unique ideas out there, as this doesn't really fit neatly into any single category. They've recently released a demo of the creature creator, which is pretty fun to play with. Release date for the full game is Sept 5 or 7, depending where you live.

As a long time simant, simearth, simcity player from back in the dos and win95 days I gotta say at first glance I was extremely disappointed. I thought, damnit, what happened to the truly in depth and complicated strategy games I remember from back in the day, this just looks like some damn kids cartoon. Then I watched the 45 minute google video showing the game from start to finish... and while it looks kiddy, Ill definitely be picking a copy up.

I've been waiting for Spore ever since I was announced back in (tries to think that far back) 04 / 05. Its been a long long time coming. After downloading the free Creature Creator last night and messing around for a good hour or few I'm even more interested. I think Spore has been delayed more times than Stalker.

I don't think Spore ever set a date, so they haven't precisely "delayed" it lol... But yeah... been waiting since they first announced it at the GDC years ago.
