UOAssist: wouldn't it be possible to extract some kind of unique ID based on your WOW account?
not exactly. UOAssist played with the TCP stream... and was able to recognize when UO was logged in. blizzard would flip if i did that. besides, which account would it hook to? i run mine with 5 wow accounts running on the same machine at the same time.

Rob are you using a third party to check the license or your own computer. If it is your computer when was the last time it was rebooted lol.
?( i paid big money for the OS on this computer (and the 3 others)... and moving it to another machine is iffy. they also track the system-id (or whatever microsoft calls it) and attach guids to them. those guids are in every word doc and excel sheet you create... so they can track which machine a doc came from (i believe the guids may also be embedded in the .net produced code). and if i tried to change my motherboard / cpu... the OS would just stop working and would require a full re-install, which would lose all my registry settings.

and don't forget, wow checks your account every time you log in. so does yahoo, icq, aim, and even vent. only difference here is, i'm not requiring a log in
You should also consider HotKeyNet....Free at the moment
if you don't like keyclone verifying itself once at startup, then you won't like HKN's constant calling home (every couple of minutes)
and if you don't like paying for keyclone once, then you really wouldn't like paying $3.95 for HKN every month.. which is the plan once they get enough users using it (another reason to call home every few minutes)

oh, and don't forget the bit about how it could get your accounts banned...
