Default Has this ever happened to your characters when you got into formation?

The most unusual and unique thing happened to my shamans when I clicked my formation macro. I have NO idea if I clicked something else in the process to cause it or not.

The formation macro was that a diamond:
    ....X
    X.......X
    ....X

When I hit the formation button, the two in the middle who held the outside suddenly started running in large cirlces around my main. Problem was, while interesting, I couldn't stop them from doing it. I had to eventually log out to get them to stop; so I placed it as a glitch.

My question... is there a way to get your characters to run and circle a target like they did? I'm thinking that would be a kick ass method to handling moving enemies if so? Or... was it simply a glitch?

    are you using keyclone.

If you are it happens to me from time to time. Usually hitting the follow command snaps them out other times mouse overing there window a couple times stops them

Yes I do use it. I was interested if there was any viable way to do that with some sort of setup. It'd be useful to press a button to make my team circle the target and stop them but looks to be more or less a glitch.

    Oh well lol...

Sounds like somehow they have both Forward and Turn Left/Right pressed at the same time. That would cause them to run in a circle..

However, you come to the issue of 1 keypress = 2 actions if you use 1 formation key..

Definitely going to 4-box Diablo 3 after testing the beta for how well this would work.

Are you using "focus follows mouse"? I got all kinds of freaky deeky things when using that in conjunction with my movment keys. When I disabled it they all went away.

if you press and hold your strafe key, then hit a follow macro, your clones follow in a circle, usefull for making the v charge formation, or trying too get yourself flamebaited lol, dont know why it does this i am gunna try with vanilla wow, no keyclone and see if it still does, if it does i guess its legit woot, (finaly a way too make melee classes viable)

from what i have seen with keyclone, if i am pressing strafe left and switch windows they will continue to strafe left till i go back and press ALT-strafe left,

havent really brainstormed strategies for it, it was really just kinda annoying.

If something like that happens, then there usually is a key stuck... to stop them from running in a circle, or un-stuck the keys, simply go to that toon's client and press one or even two of those stuck keys... that should solve it..
My problem usually is a stuck modifier, like Shift, CTRL or ALT... I simply hit all of them one after another, what solves it for a while, until something weird happens again (has to be something weird to get them suck, cuz my accessibilty options for locking keys are off)
I could imagine, that this might happen, if you activate a window, press a key and while the key is pressed, the window loses focus again..

Never running in a circle, but every now and then (maybe 3 times in levelling from 1 to 69) the four followers will go running off in whatever direction they're currently facing. No macro commands stop them, no matter what I do, and the only fix is to click into each window and manually stop them (by which time the last guy has invariably aggro'd something...lol)

But like I say, only 3 times in basically 70 levels, so maybe once a fortnight or so.

make sure your shift/ctrl/alt + formation key, are on ur dnpass list. the reason for this (I am 95% sure ) is that if you happen to press one of them what can happen is that the Upstroke (release) of your formation wont register, as you intended

    For instance:

If you hold shift and press W:

    Downstroke : Shift + W

    Then you release Shift:

    Upstroke: Shift

    then W:

    Upstroke:

    W

basically now all your toons still have the initial Shift + W command and you have no way to stop them moving :S

If you were using multiple ones it's possible you managed to get them stuck in the forward and turn position.

To stop them from running I have found double-tapping each direction key seems to do it. If they are running forward, doubletap your up arrow key etc (the reverse of what you instinctively would do )

If you don't want to use ur modifier keys with formations I suggest you put the combinations (Shift + formation) on the Do not pass list too.

    hope that solves it
