Frame Rate Problems -- Happened overnight! Need help! PLEASE!

Hello!

Since I have been traveling all over lately from one of my homes to another, I've been playing with a MacBook Pro (15-inch, 4 gigs of RAM, best configuration available from Mac). It has all been fine multi-boxing four characters, with no lag or frame-rate issues, until today.

My Set-Up:
-MBP
-Keyclone (Running Maximizer)
-Four World of Warcraft
-One additional monitor (My "main" is on the laptop, and the slaves are on the monitor, that has a resolution of 1280x1024)

THESE ARE THE SETTINGS I USED BEFORE THE LAG:

I would have the BACK-FPS at 5 and the Active-Window-FPS at 45. I would achieve around 35-40 in Ironforge/Stormwind, and obviously higher outside these cities.

I woke up this morning and started up my WoW, like I usually do. But, once all my characters were logged in, I was barely achieving 10 FPS. So, I logged out and set the graphic settings on EACH window to the absolute minimum and I turned off every add-on on every WoW application. However, I was still barely getting 15 FPS. I have not downloaded or changed ANYTHING since yesterday, so I do not know what is going on. I also have CORE affinity set-up and that has not changed either.

However, I did notice one thing change. The multisampeling changed on EACH slave, before it was 16-bit color 16-bit depth 1x multisample, but now it is at 24-bit color 24-bit depth 1x multisample. I have attempted numerous times to change it to what it was set to before, but everytime I reload the game it changes back to the new setting. It just does not "stick." I was thinking that this might be what is causing the frame rate problems, but what do I know!

Since this has occurred, I have reinstalled everything, and even reformated my Windows partition. Even though I have done all this, I cannot "stick" the multisampleing back down. I have even attempted to play with each screen on only the laptops monitor, but still, the FPS sucks!

I really have no idea what to do, or how to fix this!

This sounds like a hardware problem from what you have outlined. Did you install anything extra after the wipe or did you just install the basics? I can only guess that either some of the ram went bad or there is heat build up from dust or a fan going out.

if your frames have drastically decreased there are a few obvious things to test and a few that will be almost impossible with alaptop.

check your registry and make sure nothing has been installed on your PC from the time your frames were working good till now. Virus/spyware ect....( trojans are known to mess with your frames if they are streaming )

In some cases, i have seen video cards onlaptops continue working without a proporly functioning fan.... temps will rise and the performance of the card will diminish but still "work" . ( IE : your pc will still have video and post but the frames drop )



open the back of your macbook and make sure none of your fans have unseated during your travels.



update your drivers and byond that youw ill need to send it in for depo repair. X(

Oh God, that would be quite frustrating! I recently got it BACK from repair from a cracked display.

Does anyone have any solution for the "sticking?"
