Default Moving around on a PvP server

I'm sure this is going to sound like an idiotic question to everyone who has been living on a PvP server for a long time, but this is my first so its been a learning experience. Over the weekend I attempted to move my team from Badlands to Swamp of Sorrows and it was pretty much a disaster. Here's what I did and maybe someone can tell me where I went wrong.

    - First off I walked into Searing Gorge and opened up the flight path at Thorium Point. There were some 70's there who wiped me repeatedly but I was finally able to hit the bat handler on all 5 guys.

    - My plan at this point was to run south through Burning Steppes and Redridge, then through Deadwind Pass into SoS. Given that all my guys were dead I thought I could ghost run down there and rez in a graveyard in SoS.

    - So after like a 30 minute run I finally get to the graveyard in SoS and accept the rez sickness and boom I'm back at my corpses in Searing Gorge.

Clearly I'm not understanding basic game mechanics here as I thought this was how people generally moved lowbies around a PvP server. What am I doing wrong? ;(

    Thanks.

I would suggest you get flight points at off-hour times. Generally - run instances during prime-time (you can't get ganked in instances), run world quests during off-times (i.e. when a ton of people aren't playing).

If you get ganked more than a couple times in one spot - leave the area and go somewhere else.
    Sweet* teams - <unGankable> - Kil'Jaeden US Alliance - 10x Shamans, 9x DKs 1x Pally, 10x Drews

Yea unfortunately with my schedule I pretty much only get to play during US primetime hours lately. Hence looking for a more creative approach.

Just keep trying. Lowbie ganking is not as common as you may think. Use suicide and spirit ressers to your advantage - they can be used for mini-teleports.

That's what I tried and it didn't work as I thought it would, hence my question.

This is what I was missing...just found it in WoWWiki:

"If you run to a Spirit Healer at another graveyard and ask her to bring you back to life she will do so. But the resurrection sends you back to the graveyard that you originally spawned as a ghost. However, if you log out and log back in, your character loses its association with that graveyard's spirit healer, so you will be able to return to life at the graveyard of the spirit healer you speak to. Thus, it is possible for a character to die in one zone, reach a spirit healer far away, relog, and resurrect safely at the nearby spirit healer."

I had no idea that was possible. It sounds like something blizzard might frown at if done repeatedly to explore.

That is another reason why I rolled 3 warlocks. I then only have to to the FP runs once, and can play the summoning game for the hard to get ones (like Southshore for alliance, what a run! And if you are Draenei/NE and want to go to human/dwarven lands)

But going on off hours is a good plan for those without locks, or if you are leveling those locks

A lot depends on your team and lvls. I lvled 4 locks and 1 shadow priest on pvp server to 70 with no other toons on that server. I lvled in Hord areas to 30 then went out side of horde space. many 70s would try to gank but 16 dots and fear always worked . soul sard on priest and 4 locks is a must. I did not know what class you are. If hunters you have other opotions. druids would be easy.

A friendly mage coulld teleport your grp to stoneard.

Yea it occurred to me last night that I could have part of my team teleported to Stonard then summon the rest of them with the ST meeting stone.
