    Default Problems with 9600GT :(

So yeh, im having bad problems with my FPS for some reason. Im not sure what i should do to fix it, ive turned all the graphics down to minimum but i still get really poor fps. The system specs are

    Q6600 2.4ghz CPU
    6gb ddr2 ocz ram
    1TB Samsung 32mb cache hardrive
    Zotac geforce 9600gt amp edition
    Windows xp 64bit

Im running 5 clients on it, using symbolic links.

Occasionaly i get these wierd black things also:
Dunno what i should do, is it possible that my PSU isnt giving my gfx card enough power?

    What psu are you using?

Are you running the latest nvidia drivers?

Try putting your specs into this calculator and it will tell you whether it's enough or not.

Though, to me it sounds like you have a driver issue, or maybe a bad stick of ram. Does it freeze up on you once and a while?

I'd venture that PSU doesn't supply enough +12v on the rails. Try upgrading to a 600-800watt good brand PSU and I'm fairly certain you'll notice the diffrence.

How many screens are you running? If you are running more than 1, Are you using the Horizontal span setting or the Dual view setting?
XP has issues with Dual view, this is fixed in Vista, but if you want to use XP then Horizontal span is really the only way to go.

I get an occasional wow error, memory cannot be read / written. Firefox locksup at times also, just ran the calculater and it tells me that 450w is indeed enough and the drivers are the latest from nvidias website.

Ill order a new PSU monday just to make sure

Edit: only 1 screen and windows xp 64bit

So, at yesterdays hogger raid i was suprisingly getting 25-30fps and thats with alot of charecters on my screen. I thought, heh maybe its my addons (as i wasent running any last night) so tryed turning them off - logged back in no differnce at all. Very lucky if i manage to get a stable 20fps in booty bay with just me and my other 4.

Got some stuff downloading so when thats finished im going to install windows vista 64bit and see if a fresh install helps at all. If it does nothing then it has to be a hardware issue, so ill order a decent brand PSU - I dont know much about PSU's except how to install one so any advice would be appreciated - I seen a PSU and its 12v rails at 22a, is this good, great, crap? :P

Thanks in advanced, Carnage / Wonx

A quick update, the new powersupply got delivered via city link 30 mins ago - ebuyer ftw The powersupply i decided to buy is a Corsair 520W HX Modular, set it all up - booted up my multibox. when i logged in with all settings to bare minimum i got around 40-50fps, so then i decided to turn up the draw distance on my main char and the fps dropped between 20-30fps. Not the best in the world but i suppose it will have to do, the best test will come tonight when im raiding M'uru then hopefully KJ

As to if i get anymore of those horrible black squares, only time can tell :< With anyluck the 280GTX's will come down in price some more.
