Default 6 Questions for a newbie (5 shaman) that did check wiki etc ;)

    So, I'm at level 8 :P

    1) Now, how do I set up healing normally? Using focus somehow?
I've been following the 5-mage newbie guide in the wiki, that uses focus for nuking and following, but somehow I think that is needed for shaman heals?

    2) Earth Shock
How do I normally set it up to be nice for interrupting spells? All 4 doing it on main target at once? or something more clever?

    3) Totems
I only have 2 totems so far, but how do you guys usually do totem macros to make sure that you get the "right" totems down?

    4) Follow Lag
I seem to run all 5 instances just fine, but I do get follow lag - meaning the 4 on follow will slow down and gradually fall behind - Is this normal? If not, how do I fix it?

    5) Relating to 4 - What does the maxfps setting in keyclone do, and can I use it to help 4? Also, how do you recommend spreading 5 wows on a quad core?

    6) Is there a need for a 'spread' out type of macro? If so, how would be easiest to do it for a 5 man shammy team?

I did try and search on the above, but no luck - sorry if it is a repost.

    Thanks!

Adding a 7th question: Do you usually melee at earlier levels? if so, how do you set it up? (so far I've not meleed more than once when I went oom - close to death as I had to manually set and position all 4 to melee)

I focus my main. Then my alts use:
    /cast [target=focus-target] DPSSpell for DPS
    /cast [target=focus-target-target] HealSpell for healing
It ends up damaging whoever the main has targeted and healing whoever has aggro from the mob that the main has targeted.

You can use castsequence and dummy commands to make only 1 spell at a time.
    (alt 1) /castsequence [target=focus-target] reset=7 Earth Shock, , , , , , , , , ,
    (alt 2) /castsequence [target=focus-target] reset=7 , Earth Shock, , , , , , , , ,
    (alt 3) /castsequence [target=focus-target] reset=7 , , Earth Shock, , , , , , , ,
    etc

I will just skip to the end, and you can leave out the parts you don't have yet. I have 3 resto, 2 melee. I put them down in schools (fire last, since it might pull a mob).
/castsequence reset=combat/16 Stoneclaw Totem, Healing Stream Totem, Grounding Totem, Searing Totem (for resto's with 1 using mana spring instead of healing stream)
/castsequence reset=combat/16 Strength of Earth Totem, Healing Stream Totem, Grace of Air Totem, Searing Totem (for 1 melee)
/castsequence reset=combat/16 Stoneskin Totem, Healing Stream Totem, Grounding Totem, Searing Totem

Then I put searing, grounding(1 grace of air), healing (1 mana) on my broadcast list so I can lay 5 down at once. I mean I put all chars have searing on F5, so I can push F5 and get 5 searings.

Just use /follow on the alts to follow the main. If they get really behind (you can see in mini-map), then just slow down a sec and let them catch up.

Is there a particular reason to spread out? If you need to target someone, you can just click on their portrait in the party area.

    Hope that helps.

Here's a link to a set of shaman macro's that should help you out with your healing, totem and shock macro's:

Thanks guys, as for healing - do you have 1 dedicated healer, or does all do it?

Maxfps sets the maximum frames per second, this so your alt in the background is not running actually faster then your main - basically helps to balance performance. Usually I have 60 FPS on active window, and 30 FPS on background windows (depends on your system as well, I use the holy trinity Q6600, 4 GB Ram, 8800 GT).

As for affinity, one misconception is that you have 4 cored and you can spread it evenly across all four - one thing to remember is that you need this one thing called Operating System (OS) to be running if you want to play computer games - so I leave core 1 free for that, and other such things such as firewfox, keyclone, EVGA precision (speeds GPU fan), HWMonitor (monitors temperatures).

    So here is my setup:
Core 1 - OS and other windows applications
    Core 2 - Main toon
    Core 3 - 2 alts
    Core 4 - 2 alts

There is more technical details such as how intel quad core is really 2x dual core (if you use intel) and how that affects affinity, but I won't get into that.

In the future, don't bother with using the search function built into the forums. It pretty much sucks unless you know exactly what you're after.
