not every situation in which you need to recover HP is critical. there are any number of situations where it might be preferable to bandage over sitting to drink or using a castable heal. you might be short on mana, you might still be combat flagged and unable to drink, your healer might be unable to cast..

all first aid does is provide you with another option.. which is a good thing.
