I like Axolotls, this is why I have one as my avatar.

Axolotls are fascinating creatures, they are RL pokemon, have dreadlocks AND have a really cool smile. They also change colour and can EVOLVE into fire salamanders.

Axolotls are available in around five colour variations; black, white, wild type, albino and a golden colour. They grow to approx 30cm (12in) and will live for approx 12 years in captivity. Axolotls are studied around the world, due to their ability to regenerate a new fully functional limb within two months of losing it.

I used to keep African Albino Aquatic Frogs when I was in college but I think the Axolotls would be a much better looking pet. :thumbsup:

They're fascinating, genetically one of the most complex organisms on the planet.

they regenerate limbs.
they start life as amphibians but can turn into reptilian Fire Salamanders should their enviroment change (anything from the PH of the water to just thinking 'screw this, I'm going topside')

There are also places you can get the lecustic ones, which are slightly more expensive. Your best bet is to go on an amphibians classifieds website. I'd suggest doing a fair amount of background reading, as they can be difficult to keep (apparently) although everyone I've spoken to says they are very low maintainence. They're probably cheaper in the US than in the UK as well.
