Default Did this type of Macro used to work in WOW? And was it legal in the first place?

    Found this on a site

Supposedly Heals the person with the lowest health. Were macros able to do stuff like this at one point?

    /script M=UnitHealthMax H=UnitHealth a="player" b="party1" c="partypet1" x=M(a)-H(a) y=M(b)-H(b) z=M(c)-H(c) t=a if(x<y) then t=b end if (z>y and z>x) then t=c end TargetUnit(t) CastSpellByName("Healing Touch(Rank 5)")

Hmmmm, probably not, I just looked farther down in the menu on the site and noticed stuff about [things that shall not be named]

    oh well

    Ah OK, thanks.

Wow, it WAS pretty amazing the stuff you used to be able to do with a macro though!

But with all those options, I can see why they removed a lot of it.....

Pre 2.0 yes. You can basically spam a single button and it would automatically target & heal the person with the lowest health. There were a number of 'heal bot' macros and mods designed like this. Someone could watch a movie/TV/porn during a raid and hit a button mindlessly.

And for those who remember *THAT FAR BACK*.. Cosmos (a common mod suit) had an alpha release that would automatically navigate mobs, obstacles and run you to a location. Yes, back in the day a macro could even make you run. Infact there were a number of legit in-game mods that allowed you to set way points and automatically run your character there - AH... the good old days.

I remember the week or two after 2.0 was release there was a huge up-roar from all the people who now had to think about healing and actually click / press the spell themself. It was laughable how many people actually relied on those mods, and it explained why they were REALLY shitty healers.

Pre-BC Raids REQUIRED spamming anti-debuff spells.

    Magic/posion/desease... etc.
Blizz, because decursive existed, designed encounters around it, requiring you to get it, while saying it was against the rules... it was a really messed up combination.

Glad that's all over now. I was so sick of "is decursive against the rules" arguments.

There was a piece of software, can't remember the name, but you could basically make kick-ass scripts that would let you pretty much pound the space bar and do just about anything based upon facing, energy levels, their hits poitns, your hit points, etc.

It was neat - but was also a prime example why it had to be stopped. My rogue was practially automated other than my having to hit the space bar when I got in combat. It actually made the game a bit boring.

I remember a toolbar mob developed by a guy called 'Laz", unfortunately I can't remember the name of the mod. You could apply logic to your tool bar and buttons and change the spell applied to that button to anything dependant on the logic script you setup. (And this was back in the day when you could change a toolbar/spell during combat).

I could play a Rogue with literally *1* button press and the mouse for movement. The toolbar was setup in such a way it would take into account the mobs health, your health, adds (& # of adds), combo points, energy, cooldowns etc.. All I had to do was literally BASH space bar and the scripts would change the spell on the toolbar and it would cast whatever spell I had scripted to appear for a given event. I even took it one step further and setup my G15 to bash the space bar every .5 seconds for me. I would kill mob after mob after mob by simply moving the character with my mouse, right click the mob and the "bashing" would take care of the *entire* combat sequence. Needles to say it was a boring as you can get and it didn't last long.

Ahhhh.... the good old days of in-game automation

LazyScript - that's it. It started out as LazyRogue and he eventually kept modiying it til it was usable for any class. It was a very impressive addon - and as pointed out, made the game even more of grind than it already is.
