Default What are you think about 5 Shadow Priests (I would say helllo to this great community)

    Hello Guys

Im Sneech and i come from Switzerland. Im sorry about my english, its not very good. so i try to wirte that you will understand.

first.. why i dont wirte in the german topic? simply the german community form Mb is too small.

last week ive got my UHDDES! UltraHighDefinitonDamageEntretainmantSystem, what means iv got my Q9450, 8gigs ram, 2 9800GTX, 3x500GB on RR1740 in RAID5.
I created 5 accounts on a Server you are instantly lvl 70 to test a 5 Shadow Priests Box. Unforunatly a lot of the SP's Spells was buggy or didnt stuck what they would do on Blizzard Server. For Example, Shadow Word: Pain, Vampire Embrace/Touche and Mind Flay just one of the SP's will be able to hold this up. Note: Shadow Word: Pain is around 30% of the SP's DPS, so i loose a lot of DAMAGE! Note 2: Vampire Embrace will heal all Party Members equal to 125% of one SP's DPS if i play with 5! Next: a long time ago i calculated that if i would have a party with 3 SP's, every SP would cast every spell for Free, if they have allways Vampire Touche UP! finnaly i used only Mindblast followed by Shadow Word: Death!! ;P ----> every one became a onehitwonder, it was very funny. The AoE fear works also very nice. In 26 sec iv got 5 times 8 second fear.

Now my wish is to lvl up this setup to lvl 70 on the Blizzard Server, but im not sure that the SP Setup is pwning enought to get a high raite in 5on5.... what are you thinking guys? have everyone tried it before? any experience?

On my main account i have allready i warlock, so i can implimate it when the SP's are 70. Cures of Shadow would bi very nice xD

    your sincerely Sneech

I only 2-box, so I don't know how well five shadow priests would work, but it sounds quite interesting.

I also want to point out I found your English to be easy enough to understand
Stopped multiboxing to experience raid content with friends.
    Was 2-boxing warlocks until Wrath.
    Regularly lurks, very occasionally posts.

I wouldn't rely on priests alone because:
    - When you go out of mana, you die. There is no melee alternative and armor like shamans have. You could use Psychic Scream 5 times in combination with wands, but it's not going to be effective enough when attacking multiple characters.
    - How are you going to do instances on your own? Just using Psychic Scream won't work, especially not on bosses.
    - When your whole team wipes, you don't have wipe recovery.

Welcome to you from Switzerland, Australia here, I take it you were enjoying the Euro?

also ur english is better than mine

5 priests? why not throw 1 lock in there for good measure and have, or atleast try and use void for tanking? this way u could do instances as well. Questing 1-70 would be annoying and boring

    btw, nice rig

That could indeed fix some of the problems. The soulstones could also assure wipe recovery for the priest.
I would personally go for 1 holy priest and 4 warlocks though.
    (I'm currently doing a 3 warlock + 1 priest team and it's epic .. only level 28 though)

    1 SP + 4 Locks

    1 HP + 4 Locks

    5 Locks :P

Anyways, i've seen videos from a insane holy specced priest doing A LOT of damage with smites and holy nova, imagine that with 5 HP, not to mention the healing going around

if i were u, i would go for 1SP+4Locks, thats what im going to try after put my shamans at 70

i'm running 3 sps at the moment, and only mid thirties so i cant say for certain how it will be at 70. Right now, its awesome. i have my fears on round robin, and i can take on a nearly unlimited number of mobs. 3Ve's running lets one of my priests tank a red, so i'm sure once i get shadow form it will flow even more smoothly. Another thing to consider is the spec. how many points into shadow weaving? and only one needs misery at 5/5, not to mention spirit tap is pointless...it makes for interesting spec choices.

As far as instances go, i can solo the library at 35 with only 3 characters, so i'm pretty pleased with the combo so far. Its not as easy or as high in burst damage as my shammies, or a pile of locks. But i'm doing this with the intention of grouping with a couple of mates at high level so i dont need to worry about higher 5mans and heroics.

Another topic about this huh? Open world PvE is great for 5 shadow priests. Open world PvP is great for shadow priests. BG's are great for 5 shadow priests. Arena sucks for 5 shadow priests. Instances vary, but in general are not doable by 5 shadow priests. Clothies die easy and you will have mana issues.

Using a smite spec basically turns you into a mage (you get eaten easier by rogues too without mind flay) who can heal and rez without having good CC. Smite does hit reasonably hard however, and the heals (versus being in shadow form) are much nicer. Still lots of mana issues and cloth survivability issues.

Discipline spec means you hit softer than either of the other specs but gain more survivability via PS. Micro managing PS on a 5box setup is a pain however. If you run an assist round robin and hit some latency you can pop PS on the wrong person. Still have mana issues also.
I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself. A bird will fall frozen dead from a bough without ever having felt sorry for itself.

I like the idea, but personally I would throw in a warlock or two (that's what I'm doing) for a bit more synergy. Adding some warlocks could afford you the following:

    1. 13% more shadow damage across the board with imp curse of elements
    2. Curse of tongues and/or exhaustion
    3. A pet to intercept/spell lock/devour
    4. A class that can get mana back if needed
    5, nukes that don't have a cooldown
    6. A castable fear

Of course, this is all theorycraft at the moment as my four alts are still in the 40s and I haven't tested all the angles in PVP yet. But it was just some of the ideas I had.

I have a 5 man SPriest team but they are only level 10 and I have no idea when I will get back to them but please explain your statement to me. I'm probably showing my nubeness by asking but oh well...

I'm guessing either because you kill so fast not much mana is used but everyone talks about the mana issues so I'm not sure. Or maybe you are referring to in the long run because of Vampiric Touch. Just curious, thanks.

Edit: Forgot to mention the killing blow part of this also may be a turn off.
