Default Switching Leader / Focus Question.

Ok, as of now I have 4 level 61 shamans on the realm of Illidan. Before now, i would get into some trouble, have my leader die. . . and then the rest of my group would just stand there looking like idiots. So, what i did was i Keybinded my F8-F11 buttons to make each one quickly direct one of my clones as the new leader and focus. This is the macro i use for each character to be promoted and refocused.

    /promote [Playername]
    /target [Playername]
    /focus
    /assist
    /follow focus

Now, that being said, i ran into a bit of a problem. . . Not necissarily a problem, but a bit of an annoyance, which could be crucial when coming to 5v5s later. Before i had these leader redirects, my main shaman would not have any binds to his spells, becuase normally he does not need to target, focus or assist anybody when opening duels. . . However, now, if i ever had to switch leaders for some reason, he would need to have macros on his spells now, to focus on the main leader, assist him, then cast. This is where i run into my problem.

    /target focus
    /assist
    /cast Lightning Bolt

It is a simple macro, however when i am fighting mobs, i will hit the button, and sometimes it will stay selected on the mob and cast, but sometimes when i click this macro, it will stay selected on the focus. . . and not on the mob anymore. . . then it will make all my clones focus on me as well, becuase they assist me and deselect the mob. . so i have to reclick on the mob, click the macro again and hope it doesnt select me instead of the mob. . . idk, any solutions to how i can fix this?

    Ok,

since you are using both party1 and focus as your main designator, why not modify your macros to take advantage of this?

I use http://www.dual-boxing.com/wiki/inde...with_modifiers to select which party member is leader (there are some automatic failover leader macros, but I like the ability to choose my leader (and pip swap is bound to the same key combination)

Using Trinity 2 (I should be on commission) and every action on every character is a macro. They all use [target=focustarget] or [target=focustargettarget] except for targeted healing macros, which use [target=name]... I haven't set up failover to party1 yet but will do before I start high level instances where CC may be required.

as all 5 characters have the same focus and party1, [target=focustarget] works even on the main as it resolves to [target=target] = []

    hi

I'm sorta new to this multiboxing thing, but I saw that problem arise right away, especially with collection quests, some of which I like to do...

I made sorta the same setup, with F8-F12 (got 5 shamans) - using PiP switching from Keyclone.

I've made 5 macros, for focusing each of my 5 toons. They are focusing by name:

    focus1:
    /target toon1
    /focus
    /cleartarget

    focus2:
    /target toon2
    /focus
    /cleartarget

    focus3:
    /target toon3
    /focus
    /cleartarget

    focus4:
    /target toon4
    /focus
    /cleartarget

    focus5:
    /target toon5
    /focus
    /cleartarget

I then keybound 5 spots on one of the alternative actionbars, to F8-F12

To avoid the leader having itself or others as focus, I made a 6th macro:

    /clearfocus

Now, on Toon1 it's like this:

    F8 - clearfocusmacro
    F9 - focus2
    F10 - focus3
    F11 - focus4
    F12 - focus5

    Toon2 has this:

    F8 - focus1
    F9 - clearfocusmacro
    F10 - focus3
    F11 - focus4
    F12 - focus5

    Toon3 has this:

    F8 - focus1
    F9 - focus2
    F10 - clearfocusmacro
    F11 - focus4
    F12 - focus5

And so on ... this makes whoever I make leader clear his own focus, and the other 4 toons focus him/her.

I then as an example have 1 macro bound for dmg, and direct healing:

    #show Lightning Bolt
/cast [target=focustarget, harm, nodead] Lightning Bolt; [target=focustarget, help, nodead] Healing Wave; [harm] Lightning Bolt; [help] Healing Wave

First, it checks if your focus has a target and lightning bolts it if it's evil, heals it if it's good. If you have no focus, it just evaluates your current target, and does the same - LB evil, Heal good

This works rather well for questing, I generally only push one button for everything, just let the leader target a partymember if it gets low.

I will probably tweak the macros further, as I progress and level up, this is just a fast fix I came up with for changing leader in battle. The switch takes about 1½ seconds, and can be done midcast

take a look at the wiki link in my previous post (which I have fixed). It lets me use one macro per character for setting focus to any character. I bind the / key to the macro on each client and set it on the G1 Key then I set shift-/ on G2 and ctrl-/, alt-/ and shift-ctrl-/ on G3,G4 & G5 respectively (why miss G2? it is legacy from when I ran 2 windows across the top and 3 on the bottom
