Default Multi OS ( Vista 64 and XP 32) Network - Which Boxing Software to Use ?

I have a PC with Vista 64 and another with XP 32. I can't get boxing software to run between them.

Any advice from anyone on which of the tools (presently trying tog et Octopus to work) should work on them. Help on getting this working would be hugely appreciated.

    Thanks

there are no problems that i am aware of for keyclone to communicate between vista64 and xp32. (if there are, please let me know)

as a matter of fact, keyclone is being used on linux and apples as well, under emulators, to communicate between machines

i regularly use it to connect my xp32 box and vista32 laptop at home

    Ok mate, thankyou.

Keyclone is about the only one I haven't tried here. Does it just work like Octopus and the old Multibox software and allow me to move my mouse directly accross between two PCs and use my kb for both ?

you can use your keyboard to trigger your actions between all your windows, but no.. it will not work like synergy and move your move between the machines

(i use synergy or an extra mouse when i need to mouse into the other screens, which is about 1% of the time)

    Thanks for that

Should I use Octopus 64 on Vista server and 1.3.3 on XP client or will the 64 bit Vista server run 1.3.3 okay ?

I've setup 1.3.3 on both but can't connect from the Vista machine to the XP machine. I have run it as adminstrator and turned off Windows Firewall. Any other advice form anyone please ?

I'm using normal Octopus 32bit version 1.3.2 on my Vista 64bit machine and the same version on my Vista 32bit machine. I've not yet tried 1.3.3 or the 64bit version of Octopus. For the pre-requisites to installing Octopus, I installed the vcredist_x64.exe on the 64bit machine I'm using Octopus on. For .NET 3.5, there wasn't a 64bit version of the installation so I installed the same one that I installed on my 32bit machines 'dotNetFx35setup.exe'.
Once you have the required software installed, just make sure to run Octopus with Administrator rights. I have all my machines launch Octopus from the Windows Vista Task Scheduler and have them set to start with Administrator rights. I found how to do that from one of the posts on these message boards some where.
