2 video cards
as of now I would like to add a third monitor to my setup so I need a new video card. as of now i have the 1900xtx but i was wondering if I could improve and get a better card along with this one.. for example... can i mix a 1900xtx with an 8800/9800 or is it better to stick within the same setup and run 2 1900's which i dont know how well it would work do to drivers... ANY help would be appreciated.
From items I have read you are probably better off sticking to the same chipsets for multiple cards (ie. both ATi or Both Nvidia) mixing chipsets would probably cause driver conflicts
I tried to run an older ATI card with my 8800GT and it refused to recognize whichever card was not in primary PCIE slot. I don't think mixing and matching cards from different manufacturers is a good idea.
ok well since I dont have the money for two 8800's im stuck with the 1900 thx for the help
get two new nvidia cards or two new ati cards of the same type. I am running two ati 3870 cards.

kinda cross posting here, but I didn't see this thread earlier.
So, 2 diff brands/chipsets not a good idea, how about two diff models?
I have a 8800gts, wanted to add a third monitor, should I just get another 8800gts, or go for the latest like the 9800gtx, or will having that difference be a problem?
two different models are fine - I have run an 8800Ultra XT and GTX260 in the same system without any problems
